Hi everyone!

I am Darfinkle, aka Liz, one of your Municipal Liaisons. I am coach, moderator, liaison between you and headquarters, event hostess, casual writer, accounting student, tutor, and origami nut.

I joined NaNo in November 7, 2005. My job was ending, I was considering returning to college, and I had written very little in 20 years. I stumbled across this rather interesting but strange site called nanowrimo.org while surfing the Web. I signed up, wrote like mad and finished in the nick of time. The following year, I returned as Municipal Liaison. I love it.

Please introduce yourself. Tell us what you want us to know about you. I look forward to getting acquainted.

Hello!

I'm Katica Locke, aka edwardsledge on here. Long story. Anyway, I live in Springfield and this will be my sixth NaNoWriMo. My day job is as an Educational Assistant Substitute, and in my spare time I write erotic M/M fantasy stories, hence the pseudonyms. My first novel, Magebound, was released in August, and I have several erotic short stories coming out through Shadowfire Press.

I love animals and nature, I collect stuffed animals, especially frogs and sharks, I have three tribal tattoos--a turtle, a hammerhead shark, and a swallow--and I like watching movies and sporting events with my family. I can get so busy writing that I completely neglect the forums, so this may be the only time you hear from me, lol. I hope not.

Hi there, I'm Kokotankuu, or Koko as most people call me. I've been doing Nano for..3 year including this one, failed my first time, but Won last year. I tend to lean towards fantasy/scifi stuff. I live part time in Eugene and Part time in Albany, so I'm hoping that board will get up and running too ;p cause I'll need to write-ins during the week ;pp

Anyway, I work at a doctor's office as a Medical office assistant and I also take classes at LBCC in Albany or Corvallis both. I love movies, and music and Video games. I am a Gamer girl ;p I never leave home with out my DS or my Rubik's cube actually lol.

Pleasure to meet all of you and I look forward to writing this year.

Cottage Grove signing in.

I've always been a writer, I have trunks of stuff no one has ever read. And then I found the NaNoWriMo, and I thought, I can do that, that would be cool. I never know what my story is about or how it ends until I write it. That's why I write, I get these things stuck in my head and they won't go away unless I document them, little snippets, choreographed scenes, phrases. Sometimes I write the ending first and work backwards. Seat of the pants, stream of consciousness, whatever you want to call it. Somewhere between splatterpunk and comedy. Keeps me relatively sane.

Cheers all!

-Bob

Cottage Grove here as well!

My name is Jasmine, though I go by Verity Moonshine quite often. I'm 23, pagan, a mommy, and a musician. This is my first NaNo. I love writing but have never written a novel or anything close to it, so this will be a jump for me. I'm excited and determined though, and pretty confident that I can do it. I've written many short stories, mostly erotica. I've got tons of details and ideas and such that have needed out of my brain for years, and NaNo seems like the perfect place to do that!

Hi everyone,

I'm Reyena, real name Sarah. This will be my 6th year participating, and my 3rd in Eugene.

I was always a writer, but I was having trouble finding time. Then one of my friend's referred me to Nanowrimo, and I found out that I could MAKE time to write. Ever since then I've been able to find time to write throughout the year, but I always come back to this wacky, insane month, full of endless fun (and frustration).

Hey everyone!

I'm Bahnree, otherwise known as Bahnree. I live in Eugene. This is my third year participating in Nanowrimo, and hopefully my third win. I write science fiction, fantasy, thriller, and/or literary fic.
Right now I'm going to LCC, an English Lit major, and working toward my AAOT.
I like reading, writing, everything Star Wars, everything Lord of the Rings, manga, webcomics, and Stargate. I'm not sure why Stargate got added in last there. Haha.
I tend to WAYYY over-think these introduction forum posts, which is probably why it reads like the nutrition facts off of the milk carton.

Greetings all!

My name is Astrid, a.k.a. ellejohara, and this will be my first NaNoWriMo. I've been interested in writing fiction since I was in elementary school, but I've yet to simply sit down and write something start to finish. (Actually that's not true. I have a finished story, but it has been in editing purgatory for at least ten years. Oy vey!) So I bit the bullet here and signed on to commit myself to 1667 words per day, everyday, for 30 days. I know I can do it!

I recently graduated the University of Oregon with a B.A. in religious studies. I'm interested in religions, ancient languages, science fiction, archaeology, and technology, and many of my stories have incorporated some (or all) of those subjects. They all certainly include sci-fi! And now that I've graduated, I have time to sit down and write a novel.

This November is going to be an interesting ride, and I'm looking forward to it. And with my success or failure, I expect I'll be doing this again next year too.

Carpe Diem,
ellejohara

My name is Hana. I'm sixteen and I live in South Eugene C:
This will be my second year of NaNoWriMo and this year I will definitely do my best.
I like to write realism and fantasy and the such, stuff that people in my age group would identify with. 8D

I love music- listening and playing. I play fiddle with my dad under the name 'McGs,' so if you see us around town, pop by to see us!
Other than that, I enjoy drawing and painting. And cosplaying. Uh, and being a nerdfighter.

That's all :DD

I'm Aine, which is Gaelic, so you're probably pronouncing it wrong if you don't a) know me, b)know Gaelic, or c)think that Aine is the logical way to spell the name usually portrayed by the letters A-N-Y-A. Anyhow, this is my third year on NaNo, and will hopefully be my second win, the fist being last year.

I live in Eugene, but I'm currently at A3 (Academy of Arts and Academics) in Springfield. I went to South last year though.

My goals for this year are basically just be more involved and to actually finish a novel as opposed to fifty thousand words.

I like cosplaying, nerdfighting, reading, writing, drawing, watching movies, watching TV, and cats.

My favorite shows that are actually on right now are Glee, Doctor Who and Dollhouse. I think Joss Whedon is a freaking genius.

Anyhow, you'll probably see me if you go to a few write-ins. Maybe by that point I'll actually have a vague idea for what I'm writing this year. xD

I'm Carol. I used to live in Eugene - for 20 years - but moved to Belize 3 years ago. Needed more sun but when I see the city in the Fall, I pine (quite literally) for it. and GO DUCKS.

Anyway, I am rewriting for the umpteeth time a fantasy YA humorous novel (an interesting marketing problem) but was asked by a friend in Ashland to do this with her and agreed. I am working on an idea that came out of my stupid Acer Vista computer eating my mss. I can say this here because I'm on my wonderful dearly beloved Powerbook. Use the stupid Acer Vista just for writing and it's not even great for that! Hoping to change over to Windows 7 later this month.

New book is - vaguely - about a woman writing a novel on a stupid Acer Vista computer that refuses to save a chapter until it's written the way the God inside the computer wants it written. Not sure where I'm going from there but as you can see, there are a lot of options.

What are other people writing?

Hello wrimos! Good to see those familiar faces, and even better to see those new faces!

I'm Yanocchi, aka Brooke. You may also know me as The Comic Book Store Girl at Emerald City Comics (the tall brunette, who is neither the short brunette nor the blonde.) I graduated from the UO last year with degrees in Japanese Language and Comparative Literature. Aside from reading and writing I enjoy knitting, cooking, drinking and dancing with friends, and manga.

I first started doing NaNo during a long dark winter of unemployment when all I had to do was trawl fanfiction.net and IRC channels and watch reruns of Law & Order. It took me three tries, but I finally completed a NaNo last year. The past two years I've competed in the New York City Midnight Madness Flash Fiction challenge and made it to the second round this year before being eliminated. Last year I also participated in the NOMAD: The Undead project, which included a lot of research, public speaking, fighting off rabid fangirls and arguing with a punning South African editor. It was great.

Part of my research for NOMAD involved reading romance novels (they let you get away with anything in the Comparative Lit department) and I've decided to try something new for this year's NaNo. Normally I write fantasy but this year I'm going to try writing romance, which I've never done before. I may freak out, panic, and change my genre at any moment, but I'm also looking forward to the challenge of trying something new!

See you at the write-ins!

What's up everyone? I'm a sophomore at the University of Oregon, this is my first year participating. Between classes and a job it'll be interesting to see if I am able to hit the 50k mark, but I'm going to try. I'm an unyielding insomniac regardless, so I imagine I'll have plenty of time to get it done.

Good luck to everyone in the Eugene area.

Hi guys. :D

I'm Gwenhwyfar. (It's Welsh. I'm not.) I'm eighteen, and I call Eugene home.

I gave NaNo a shot in '07, but life got in the way. I have no idea what happened last year, except that it wasn't writing... This year's novel is medieval fantasy, just to try something new. A slave who lives underground, a female warrior who totally definitely is not afraid of the dark she swears stop picking on her!, and daring but completely unwelcome rescue attempts may be involved.

Lack of transportation and a laptop that does not enjoy spending any time unplugged means that you're not likely to see me at any write-ins, but stranger things have happened...

Hello Nanos!

Another year, another novel! My name is Kayla and I'm a senior at UO. Unfortunately this fall I will not be able to be there as I'm in London studying for a term. I'm really disappointed that I won't be back in Eugene to do Nano with all the amazing people that I met last year. I am extremely excited to go to some London write-ins however. I don't know if I'll have time to actually win this year, as I'm doing lots of traveling and lots of work for school, but I'm going to try so hard to finish. And if I knew what I was going to write I would tell you now. I will most likely decided what I'm going to write at midnight on October 31st.

Anyways, I hope you all have a fantastic November!

Kayla

I've been meaning to reply to this for awhile. My name is Stephanie (although I do also respond to Kyrina just as enthusiastically). I've done NaNo in Eugene for two years so far and am going for a third. I was going to skip this year because I'm applying to grad school for next year but I came up with a title for a strange book that I cannot turn down.

Hi everyone,

I'm Jennifer Linnaea. This will be my 5th year of NaNoWriMo, which I can hardly believe. It has become one of the high points of my writing life, so I'm looking forward to beginning the madness. I will probably show up for at least a few of the write-ins, so will probably see some of you there. As for what I'm writing - I like to wait until October 31st to think about that....

Later,
J.

Hi I’m Twilite.

Yeah, I’m not real big on posting on forums. I do lurk and read. And I will certainly answer your PMs and emails. I can also be the big nasty reporter if someone gets out of line.

I live in Veneta. I’m an author/illustrator/performer. And a co-ML for Oregon;; Eugene-Lane County this year. I write fantasy adventure usually and have also participated in ScriptFrenzy for three years.

In 2006 I did my first Nanowrimo and have won each year of the three I have participated in inclusive. That first year I also met Darfinkle, a co-ML each of those years with gl. I could have met her under different circumstances two years earlier and if you come to the Kick Off, I might tell that story. I think it’s great to be working/writing/digressing with her.

So far, I have enlisted 3 coffee shops, two in Veneta and one in Eugene, as Writer’s Corners for this November. If anyone knows of others in the outlying areas, please send me a PM about them. They do not have to have Wifi, but we would like them to have electricity available for laptop plug in and probably some caffeine for our novelists who may wish to park themselves away from home for a few hours of quiet writing. I will still be finding Writer’s Corners in Eugene and Springfield.

Also those of you who live in outlying areas of the county, McKenzie, Drain, Cottage Grove, Pleasant Hill, etc. (not to leave anyone out) and also those in Springfield, who would not mind hosting a write-in in your local area, please PM me about that. We would like to have as many of our Wrimos in Lane County feel connected and encouraged as can be.

I have been ill this past week plus, but I’m back up and going again.

Hello everyone!

My name is Caitlyn and I'm from Springfield. I'm currently a freshman attending the University of Oregon as an English emphasis Creative Writing major.

I really can't promise lots of participation as far as events because I made the stupid mistake of taking pretty much only english classes this term so I have lots of reading and lots of writing to do all of the time =( I also can't drive, because I'm lazy like that. You think I'd know by now. Oh, and not to mention I live at home so my parents are very much still clingy and HOMG STRANGERS! DO NOT WANT. But maybe if some of us could get together a UO sub-group or something they'd go for it because evidently I'm not involved enough on campus.

I like to write all sorts of crazy random crap. I normally focus on sci-fi/fantasy because I'm a geek. But that's okay.

For the last three years or so I've /thought/ about NaNoWriMo, but haven't actually tried to do it yet. Hur. I'm going to try to be less-so my perfectionist self this year though and crank /something/ out.

Hi there! I'm Lisa, live in Eugene, and work as a security officer + part time web developer. I started Nanowrimo last year on a last minute whim; someone told me, "Hey, this starts today!" and I dove right in. I didn't quite finish, but I'm hoping this year will be diff
This year, I'm taking a break from the fantasy I've been fixated on for the last few years and returning to the modern supernatural with which I occupied my teens. No vampires here, but definitely a little romance and the requisite chick with wings. :)

What's up, Eugene?

Hi! I'm Lauren. I'm a junior at the UofO and the Clark Honors College. I'm majoring in English with a minor and Spanish and a concentration in Creative Writing. What a mouthful!

This is my third year doing NaNo. My first year was in '04 (frosh year of HS) when I won. I tried it again in '05, but life proved too hectic and I only made it to around 20,000.

But this year I'm back! I'm taking 18 credits at the UO and I'm not sure how NaNo will go, but it feels wrong not to give it a shot. :)

Good luck to everyone!

Hello! I'm Abree, I live in Eugene, and I work over at Lane Community College. I've attempted NaNo every year since 2001, but it wasn't until I moved to Eugene that I actually started winning. It says good things about our community, I think!

I look forward to seeing old friends and new faces at the write-ins!

Hello!

I'm Taylor. This is my first NaNoWriMo, but it definitely won't be my last. I started writing in high school and continued to do it on a very casual basis. I'm work very part time so I've had a lot of free time lately and for the month of November, writing shall be my vice...also, my birthday is this month, so my birthday present to myself is to actually finish something I start.

HOORAY FOR NANOWRIMO!!

Yo! This is Lora/Ashley here. This is my second NaNo, and I have a laptop this year so it's easier to work on in miscellanious places. (I tried the notebook thing0 it didn't work out so well for me.) I don't have a job- though I am trying to get one- but I still have to worry about school. I hope to see you guys at the Halloween opening!

Hello! My name is Toni. This is my first attempt at NaNo.. but only because I've been too preoccupied with an ongoing WiP (trilogy) to start anything fresh. But after years (years!) of editing, I barely remember how much fun it is to write, so that's why I'm doing this. :-)

Now, if my characters can find it in their hearts to forgive my disloyal two-timing behavior, then all will be well in my world. It's only a month, right? Right.

I'm Hannah and I live and work in Springfield. I graduated from UO + Honors College in 2006 with a degree in English. I wrote my thesis on Flannery O'Connor, so I'm a big fan of characters too true to be real, if you know what I'm saying. What do I do with my English degree? Why, have a broad perspective on the world, of course! I'm a special ed aid, plus I do child care, plus I clean someone's house once a week, plus volunteering, so I really don't know when I'm going to write this novel. I also don't know WHAT I'm going to write. Maybe I shouldn't have thought up my idea so early in the month, because I've already talked myself out of it.

I've lost every NaNo I've attempted, but I've got a higher word count each year. Here's to 49,999 words!

Hi everyone,

I am Amber a.k.a. akabookwormprincess here. This is my first year with NaNoWriMo and I am still trying to figure everything out. I can't believe that the 1st is like 6 days away, ack! I am a senior at the U of O studying business and a busy wife and mom. I sure hope I can formulate my ideas and get the 50,000 words in. It sounded like such a great idea months ago when I signed up but now that it is almost here I am not so sure of myself and my abilities. Hopefully I will make it to a live event to meet other people but that is going to be a hit or miss situation.

Good luck to everyone!

I finally made it to the bottom of the forums and just discovered that this was here!

Um. Anyway! Hi everyone! I'm Bri. This is my first NaNo! I've had friends do it in the past, but sadly, I can't seem to convince any of them to join up with me this year. Possibly this is their revenge for me not signing up in previous years.

I'm in my final year of undergraduate work at U of O, majoring in psychology and minoring in English and special education. I'm currently applying to grad schools, which means I'm slightly crazy for doing my first NaNo while I'll also be filling out applications. But, uh, crazy's fun?

This isn't my first NaNo but I'm doing the grad school application thing too and wonder why I'm insane enough to try to do both.

Hi! I'm Al Juniper Ullman aka Your Pal Al.

This is my first year doing this and I'm really, really nervous. I am also really excited. I work three jobs, want to go back to school, read a lot, bowl a ton and organize events. I am going to work very hard at finishing this and I hope I can kill my writing procrastination. It is a good thing that one of my jobs is at a coffee shop.

Oh, good, I'm not the only insane one! I'm trying to convince myself by some weird twisted logic that prolific writing for NaNo will transfer over and help me write a lot on my applications and such, but so far the logic isn't quite there yet.
