Hi, my name is Britt and this is my forth year doing NaNo, second year as ML. I've been so busy setting up write-ins and parties that I'm just now beginning to think about what I'm writing this year. Anyway, it's going to be a lot of fun. Much, much too early to speak of noveling so I'll just say happy outlining.

I'm Alicia and I'm back again this year. Failed pretty horribly last year and will probably do so again this year, but I'm looking forward to going to whatever write-ins will fit into my schedule and meeting all the Laf area participants!

Hi I am Tiffany. This is my second NaNo and missed by only a couple thousand last year. I had started around the 10th of November so I had a late start.
This year though Im all ready for it at least in the mind set. Last year I paid only attention to writing and this year I really want to get in and converse with others. Hoping that I can make a couple of write-ins it would be my first time. Doing anything like that.

I'm Amanda and I'm another first-timer. I've already changed plots at least 2x, but I think I am writing some sub-genre of Chick Lit. Hoping to be able to make all the write ins.

I'm Shelly. I also participated last year, and got about halfway through. This year, I already have a brief outline, and plenty of time to write in the morning so long as I can haul my ass out of bed early.
This is our year, guys. We can do it. :)
I will do my best to attend write-ins. I wasn't able to make any last year, but I'm pretty sure I can make some this year.
I look forward to meeting all of you, in person.

Hi everyone. I'm Inez/Illustria. Been in NaNo since 04, and I've been writing like a maniac every November since then. I don't know what to do with my story yet, but I know something will come out when October break gets started. Grad school is a little beast that can't be tamed, and it gnaws at the part of my brain that NaNo needs.
So, we have a meeting on the 17th at the library? I'm there:)
I look forward to meeting you all! Good luck to us!

hello,
my name is larrisa and this is my third year doing NaNoWriMo. last year, I beat the challenge, which surprised me since I am such a procrastinator. I had to write 12,000 words in about 24 hours (ugh). don't want to repeat that this year, cause I literally lost all function for a week.
anyway, I've never been to a write-in, so I look forward to that! hope to see you all very soon...

Hi everyone, this is DecMeadow, and I'm kinda stuck in the middle between Fort Wayne and West Lafayette. However, I am a former student of Purdue University and I have many friends in the Lafayette area. So I guess I'll affiliate here since at the very least it's a great excuse to see old friends and make new ones too!
It's my second year, I failed miserably last year due to real life. But this time, I'm planning an outline for my novel this year. And it should seriously help!
Good luck everyone!

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but if any of you from the area (or outside of the area) are going to be at the Feast of the Hunter's Moon in West Lafayette this weekend, make sure you come visit MT Forge (blacksmith). I'll be in the tent helping.

Hey everyone, I'm Allie and I am back for my second year of NaNo. I won last year, but just barely and my novel never really worked out. I hope to attend some write-ins this year and win again. Hopefully my senior year of high school won't get in the way of that :)

At the library meeting today, I mentioned a group I used to be a part of, which evaluated science fiction stories within a certain time span. If anyone is writing science fiction, or just interested in what the group does, here is the homepage for the Genre Evolution Project: http://www.umich.edu/~genreevo/
The themes which the G.E.P. came up with are a bit lengthy to post here, but you can check them out on this page, in particular: http://www.umich.edu/~genreevo/
I recommend downloading the Microsoft Word coding sheet, which lists the values more generally, and then looking at the last link's page for specific definition.
Hope you guys find this helpful!

Hey guys, I'm Andrew.
This is my third year doing NaNoWriMo, and I think I failed worse last year than the year before, which is embarassing considering that in '07 I started about a week late.
This year, I am not at all confident of my ability to finish, especially considering that I have 0 ideas for what to write about.
Happy writing!

Jenny here, sixth NaNo, Purdue Alumna (1999).
I work over at the Ivy Tech Bookstore in Lafayette, if anyone's in the area.
Also my husband is trying it out this year! We may actually find our way to a write-in this time.

Hello, everyone! My husband and I live in Lafayette over here on the East side. Since we both work the dreaded third shift, and we're only off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we won't be making any of the write-ins this year. The times just don't really go with our full-time work schedules. If they were on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, or if they were around 6pm or 8am, then we could go. I really want to go.
Is there a way that we could set something up here at the Starbucks across the highway from Meijer? I'd be glad to show up and get everyone started. If we do it at 6pm and end around 8pm or 9pm, then I could go to any one of them. Even on days that I work as long as I'm in bed by 10 or 11am.
As it is, I can't make it to any of them.

Hello all, they call me Jessi and this is my second-or-so year doing NaNo. I failed quite epically last year but have high hopes of finishing on time this year, if my excessive procrastination doesn't haunt me again, that is. I hope to attend as many write-ins as possible, but we'll see. :D

I could make an evening meet-up on Wed or Thurs probably, though I might only show up for the second half. What days of the week were you thinking?

Hey, I'm Logan and I'm a second-year NaNo-er. I won my first year through massive amounts of cheating, and I'm hoping to win this year without all the cheating. Anyway, we have a Facebook group now, under the name of "NaNoWriMo Purdue." It should cover anyone in the West Lafayette area, but it's just starting out.
Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=196481069477

Hello!
I'm Amber - I found out about this last week, obviously my first year. Going into this with just a few strange ideas, no real plot, no characters, nothing... Should be fun.
I'm a little outside of lafayette, but definitely in the area :)

Hey,
I did NaNo last year unofficially (didn't sign up on the site, but made it a personal goal). I don't know anyone else at Purdue who is participating, so I'm really excited to have discovered this group. Is anyone allowed to come to the write-ins? (Sorry, I don't know how everything works yet)
Thanks

I'm Anna, and I'm a student at Purdue. This is my first year doing NaNo. I was hanging out with my friend yesterday and he was telling me about it, and I was bored, so I thought I'd sign up and give this thing a try. I started writing (with no real concrete ideas) right when the clock struck midnight, and now I already have over 2,000 words. I don't read a lot of books, so my style is more casual and diary-like, I suppose. My novel will probably end up horrible, but I think I need to write this book for myself so I can get my thoughts and feelings down in words.
Good luck to everyone, let's all do our best and fight through until the 50,000th word!

Hey there everyone. My name is Alicia and I have been trying this for a couple of years. Some how I always have grand intentions of finishing but it never happens. November is always a super busy month for me because it contains my birthday, my mother's, and my nephew's as well as assorted friends. But I am going to do my best this year and I believe I am making a good start since I actually have a word count already as well as an outline. Here's hoping that I'll finish this year and get published. I just graduated in May from ISU and am currently jobless. I work at my town library every once in a while when they need me as well as substitute teach for Benton Central HS. Getting this book done and published would be a life saver! :) I will probably never make a write-in thing as I have no car, but I'll be there in spirit and wish you all luck. :)

Alicia

Hi, I'm John, I'm an on-again, off-again Purdue student. I've got no classes for the rest of the semester, so I'll be totally free to write novels or do community things. My interests academically lie in the sciences, so naturally I'm writing a sci-fi novel. It's my first year actually doing NaNoWriMo, and I don't know if I'll be able to finish, but I will at least attempt. I've wasted the whole week outlining and speculating on the turns this novel will take. I hope to finish it though, it would be a nice accomplishment.
