Hi - I'm Romy and my romance writer from Johannesburg. This is my second year participating and I'm determined to finish this year. Last year's Nano failed miserably when my day job quite literally exploded. Look forward to meeting all of you.

Hi guys and galls,

The Dragon here, hailing from Rayton, and it's my second year doing NaNo. 2008 saw a win and I raised my stakes slightly for 2009 - I'm trying for a hectic 75 000 words!

It's kind of sad about the blue wordcount bars, don't you think?

So this is my second (hopefully successful) year of NaNo ^^

Checking in from Cape Town.

This will be my second NaNoWriMo. I'm hoping this year to be able to write a complete story - I got to 50,000 words last year, but my novel was far from over. I did have plans to carry on with it after NaNo, but it's October now and it's still sitting at 50,000 words. ;)

I'm here! *She says, skidding in, after signing up after being given the 'You are not authorised to comment on this post' message (Waddayameannotauthorised?!)*

Embarassed to not have an original, interesting alias, and go by Deirdre16, simply because Deirdre isn't available, and 16 was presented to me as an option on Flickr two years ago.

Second time Nano writer. No novel title, no idea what I'm going to write about, and no dreams of actually publishing. But I came up with an opening line the other night, so I'll work it from there. Will probably do chunks by hand, in the car, and chunks on computer, late at night.

Love the word Steampunk ... wish I could write steampunk. But I'm going to give the epic romance thing another bash this year.

Looking forward to being spurred on by familiar names, and maybe meeting one or two face to face.

Oh, and writing from Cape Town (but leaning towards the Eastern Cape, 'cause they're really cool!).

Can't wait to get started!

This is my 2nd year, but at this point I have no idea how I'm going to get through it :( Varsity exams will be kicking my ass for the first half of the month *sigh*.

Hi All,

Pen (aka MagePenDragon aka Yvette) back for another year of the madness. I just can't seem to stay away. This will be my 6th NaNo and my 5th one in a row - I did and won all those I attempted so I know ALL the tricks to get past the finish line as well as have a wrist support crew already lined up for that last 10K-in-2-days sprint *grins*

I'm in Cape Town and will be herding the Wrimo's down there again this year.

Cheers,

----------

Hi, my name's Tyger and I'm an addict.

Completed Nano in 2006 and 2008 with a very feeble attempt in 2007.

Because of Nano I have relocated to the non-inspiring mayhem of Jo'burg from the very inspiring environs of a farm in the Eastern Cape.

I'll be writing romance again this year but with a fantasy (I think) twist.

howdy everyone!

Chantelle here (aka Minksy, if yall like!) and this is actually my first year for Nanowrimo! Believe it or not, but I only heard of it at the start of this year, which I consider slightly embarrasing taking into account how much I love writing. I hail from Krugersdorp! Going to go mad and attempt a 100,000 words, but if I reach the big 50, I'll be happy anyway. And yes, I fully intend to publish!

Lol...this is my second nickname for Nano. I did tell you I was entering Nano twice. Once under GenieD67 and also under Drymwyver67. Well for my second book idea under Drymwyver67. I am writing a Romance. Do go and have a look at the first chapter I have put up. I have no idea if I will complete either one, but I will try. :)

Saeth here, from Johannesburg. This will be my fifth time doing NaNo, and hopefully this year I'll actually finish (haven't managed since 2006). I'm also hoping to actually make to to some write-ins (which I also haven't managed since 2006 XD).

Good luck everyone!

Yeeha!! Finally made it...

I'm Night Owl, based in Jo'burg, and the nick refers to my working habits - go to sleep when the sun comes up and come to life at night.

I won last year, though the novel is so bad that it should be saved to CD and the disc destroyed totally and utterly. There were one or two bits that almost worked, though.

So far I have no ideas at all for this year. We'll just have to see what happens.

And this year I really do intend making it to the write-ins and parties.

Good luck to all the other wrimos.

Just to remind people that the idea of nanowrimo is to write something completely new. You are welcome to plot and plan in October, but only words written during November count. If you have already started writing a book, it is better to leave that for later, and work on a different, fresh project for nanowrimo.

I cannot believe I am here again. I don't wanna do this again. Well, I do, but I don't. You know?

Anyhoo, Cali checking in from PTA for the 6th time and not only have no clue what I'll write, but still hoping a glimmer of sanity will spark so I can spend my November not in a panic.

Damn you all, I wish I knew how to quit you! :D

Hello, my name is KwikSilver and I'm a Nano-holic.

Fifth year and I’m going for a fifth win.

I signed up for Zette’s 2YN (Two-Year Novel) course this year and … words fail me, apart from ... ‘a very interesting exercise’ (but if anyone really wants to know in detail, I’ll tell you in private, *smile*).

I’m dithering between two options at the moment – although, who knows, by the time Nov 1 rolls round (how many more sleeps?), I may well have decided on a third – a) to write the original idea with which I started 2YN, or b) to write my, very much evolved, 2YN as this year’s Nano, which was my original idea when starting Zette’s course, but I’ve already written approx 10,000 words. As I pretty much hate what I’ve written so far, I can solve that problem very easily by scrapping everything and starting afresh, so it won’t really be ‘cheating’. (Or will it?)

Decisions, decisions, decisions … what’s this Libran to do?!

Oooooh, I just LURV the sound of November approaching! De dum, de dum, de dum dum dum …

Here's to a GREAT NaNo 2009!!

Hello, First NaNo and I'm sitting in Pta.

I started a preteen novel earlier this year and am still busy with the rewriting/ editing stuff. It's getting a break over Nov to let me go mad. :) Hopefully I can return with fresh eyes and give it the kick it needs. I fully intend to get into the world of the published yet totally unknown to the general populous. :P

I have a post apocalyptic planned, though I don't know if that makes it Sci-fi or Fantasy. :P I suppose Sci-fi, considering a lack of magic, but there's no hardcore weaponry either. It's kinda caveman.... :P

Looking forward to the madness. :)

Hi,

Just to let you know I'm here - sort of.

I'm another NaNohHolic - If I did write one this year I'd be going for my 5th win in a row. I was ML for two years but have taken a break from that this year. I'm working full-time night dutynow, AND I'm going to a writers' conference in March in the USA - with two non-fiction works. So I really really don't think I' can get into a novel this year.

I see my two main co-runners, TygerKatt and KwikSilver - and I HATE not to give you a run for your money. :-(

Good luck all of you. I'll keep track of you all and I'm cheering from the sidelines. And you never know - I might just come up with a brilliant idea before 1 November . . .
