The reason why I'm posting this is that I couldn't help it. The form was just too darn empty :-).
I'm unreasonably excited about this year's nano experience. Somebody has lit a fire under my backside and as soon as that happened, I found myself trying to think of interesting characters
I'm not ashamed to say that my last nano novel was largely inspired by the campaign last year. So, you can't help but smile when I realized that the president is in Denmark on the day things are truly launched.
Elskede-I don't mean to step on your toes. :-)
By the way, I do understand Danish. Today I actually write a nano novel in Danish though is far off.

It was too empty! I would have thought it was broken, if not for your initiative. :D
I am excited, too. I've had a plot bunny in my head since early this year that I knew immediately would be this year's Nano, and the characters that have decided to show themselves so far are geared up and ready to go. I can't wait to start playing with them.
I'm really curious to see how many Danes write their Nanos in English. My darling other half is a Dane, and has given me the impression that most of them do.

Whoa, it's getting close to NaNo-time again O.o It hasn't really been a whole year since last time, has it? No way.
I have no clue about plot or characters, but that tends to show up the last week of October. Any earlier than that, and I get so familiar with the plot that I don't want to write it since I know how the story's going to end, then X.x Issues. I has them.
I'm looking forward to meeting all sorts of awesome people here again this year! :)

Hello all
----------It's good to see some activity on the new boards. I'm plotting and researching for my novel right now and it's coming along very well and I can't wait for November to come. Oh, and I am writing in Danish. Writing 50 k in English would be a real challenge that I'd have to practice for.

I was watching Laddets to Ladies and had a brain wave. One of my characters is shaping up to be a proper English lady (in my head still). She is definitely going to be in the States , as I am more comfortable there in terms of writing. This is not exactly a plot bunny, but it is a start. :-)

It's a great start! A proper English lady in the States lends itself to all sorts of interesting questions!
Mine showed up in the form of a young towheaded boy who planted his hands on his hips and stated to everyone in his village: 'I'm going to be a hero!' Turns out, his story isn't actually starting until he's a grown man, and already has several adventures under his belt, but the inspiration was that adorable little hellion proudly proclaiming his destiny.

Hello
I still have no idea what I am going to write this year. I know there is still plenty of time before November, but it does bother me a bit.
I will be writing in Danish, since it will be easier and more natural for me.

Well characters and plots galore have been populating my head for the better part of 6 months now, so I hope I can get them down on paper.
Last year I wrote in danish, and slid to a grinding halt 12000 words short of the goal, I was disappointed in myself and then also pretty proud since that's the longest piece of fiction I've written so far. But I hope to take this years word count beyond the 50000 mark. But this time I'll write in English. Wonder how that will work out :-D.
So am gearing up and peeving because November is always totally busy for me. When will I get my writing done??

Hello,
Had an idea for you. If you are having a tough time getting your characters down on paper, dictate the ideas into a tape recorder or something similar (if they are still sold :-))
Someone also suggested to me that I should stop writing for the day right before I ran out of steam for that day. That way, I have a jumping off point the next time I start. Another idea may be, and have never tried this but it sounds plausible, to write half your word count and wait till later in the day to write the other half... smaller bites.
It's a bit confusing in the original post, so I'll reiterate that I'll be writing in English. I think it'll be a couple of years before I can feel comfortable writing in danish *wink*

Hi,
Thanks for the ideas :) Have thought about dictating, but every time I try to envision myself doing that, I feel embarrassed and start blushing even though its just a thought. But I do get some of my ideas down, every day I come home from work, there is at least one piece of paper with hurried scribbled notes on it. I think more its an outline I need to do. Which I've never done and find a bit perplexing. But considering last year when I jumped in in the last moment and had no idea what I was going to write, I think I will stand a better chance this year with all the planning I've done.
About writing in smaller bites, last year I would get up an hour earlier in the morning (at 4 am YIKES!) and try to get some writing done. And then I would sit down in the evening as well. Worked out ok in the beginning, but it was pretty exhausting in the long run. Thank god its only a month I have to be so insane. But I sure wish they'd picked another month for this.
How long have you been living in Denmark? (Curious because my sister in law is an american as well and find the danish language extremely difficult to tackle)

Hey and welcome! It probably is easier and faster to write in your native language but of course that is up to you. And sure, you can get SOMETHING written. Just approach it with a positive attitude and enjoy November. I hope you will contribute your idea to the Kickoff Party and be able to attend.

Hey everyone
I'm really excited about NaNoWriMo and can't wait for November to begin :) This is my second try and my goal is to make it better than last year (I only wrote about 14,000 words)
This year I don't have a big school assignment coming up, so that should give me some extra time :)
I only have a vague idea about what my novel is going to be about, but I'm pretty sure that I'm going to write it in English :P
It's going to be completely different from last year's novel though, so I can't even re-use anything hehe..

---
Elskede, you've deffinitely become very good at Danish. There's still a few words that could be transelated better, and some word-order, that could be more correct. But concidering, that you're not originately from Denmark you're doing really good :-)
Actually I fin it easier to write in English in stead of Danish, even though I'm a Dane(At least that's what I'm trying to tell myself, but I've never tried anything else during NaNo)
Anyways... My inspiration this year comes from, well... I don't actually know just yet, because I stand between 3 options, what a story matters:
1) Rewrite an old, Danish balad/folksong into a novel. The inspiration for this comes from a lesson we had in the Seminarium I whent to, I was actually rewriting one of them, or started to, when we worked with the genre, folksongs.
2) Take one of my dreams and write a novel with the plot from the chosen dream (I suppose, that it's clear where this inspiration comes from ;-) )
3) I don't have any ideas at all, and hope, that the warm-up we are a few people who makes, can help me with some inspiration.
By the way, there's also a 4th possibility: That I take one of my old ideas, and continues my work with it. I have one, that turned out to be able to fill more than one book, when I'm done with it. The inpiration from that comes from an old essay, we had to write in school.

Hi ... I'm new to NanoWriMo. Or rather, this is my first time participating. I heard about the concept years ago and wanted to try, since I've been writing stories for years. But for some reason November always ended up too busy for me to get around to doing it. This year, however, I'm in. :-)
My inspiration for this ... Well, I've been working on this other story for years, and there's this guy who is not exactly a main character, but he plays a significant part, and he has a very interesting story of his own that I've been meaning to write down for a while now. So what time is better to get started than NanoTime? It's going to be mainly an ... umm ... Historical, supernatural Bildingsroman.
I'm influenced by a number of authors and works, and I am inspired by the historical research that I do for the project, but I hope to create something original as well.
I'll be writing this project in English because it goes well with the main character (who is British) and the story (a few parts take place in Germany, but most of it will be set in Scotland, England and the States). I have been writing in English for years, work with the language on a daily basis, and have an academic background that matches my anglophilia. ;-)

Well hello,
I'm a first time participant and a bit overwhelmed by all the words I have to write.
My inspiration comes from tons of stuff. Right now I'm fascinated by Colin Wilson and his body of work, so I'll most likely draw on that. My brain is such a confusing place though, so I often forget the thought that sparked the idea. I only remember the idea.
I have a beginning and an ending in place, but I kindda don't have a middle. Is it foolish to hope that it'll sorta just appear on it's own?
Anyway, I am a Dane, writing in Danish, and I can't wait to get started!

This will be my first NaNoWriMo. I've seen blogger friends do it for a few years, and though I've been writing on/off since I was 14, I never did participate. Just didn't feel ready for it, I guess. But the past year or so, things have been brewing in my head and I think it's finally time to get some of that down on paper (screen?). I've previously written in English, but have had to realise that my vocabulary is nowhere near as strong as I'd want it to be, and I can't get my points across in the right way. So I'm going to do it in Danish, even though I prefer the English language. Perhaps it's time to start loving your mother tongue, hm?
Can't wait to get started. I really, really can't. November is going to be the hardest ever (I also signed up for NaBloPoMo) but I think it's going to be the most interesting November yet. :)

wow. what a question... when I sat down this afternoon and decided to try once more I had a plan from Twilight (NO!!!! not a romance, but an arrogant vampire intriqued by other creatures way of life.) well then I read some dares and now I have a very funny story I think...
It takes place in a mix of the middleage and now, my friends are part of it just to lay out some of their roles:
My sis: the arrogant vampire
J.D.: a pork crackling visited by a fairy (my friend katrine) telling him he kan become a real sword if he learns to fight and fall in love.
my ex/best friend: a new wizard that changes everyone and everything into funny coloured bunnies just because it's funny...
and that's it so far.. have lots of ideas swirling around atm but these are set XD

I think I am in again this year (for the fourth time), and I will probably do a story based on vampires and the German refugee camps in Denmark after the Second World War. I have a glimpse of the main protagonist, and will do some "serious" planning this year, I think. Either that or no planning at all. But I will try to do a chapter structure - or a synopsis of some kind. I've had problems with the two last nanos, and I think it was because I thought I knew what to write, but really didn't, so I got very frustrated with the story not developing the right way and not having a proper grip on it.
And I'll be writing in Danish - as I really like the language :-).
Og jeg tror at jeg vil skrive på dansk for eftertiden i det danske forum.

This is my first nanowrimo year, and I can hardly wait to get started.
I'll be writing in Danish, and I'll be writing a story, that has lived in my head for several years now. It's about 7 teenagers around the world that start to dream of eachother, then are drawn to the same destination, and when they are finally together, they undertake an epic journey to a number of remote and exotic places.
The inspiration came to me, as I was looking up UNESCO World Heritage sites. Gawd, there are SO many incrediable places out there!

It's my second year, but I didn't get very far last year, I'm afraid ^^;;
This year I have a secret weapon, though; I have at least two ideas to write for ;) And I already have my notes mostly done, so all I need to do is to just start writing.
One of them is original and one is fanfiction. I honestly have more ideas for the fanfiction, so that'll probably just be my main work. I have no idea if I'm going to post/publish any of it anywhere, though. For now I'm just to keep it a secret aside from my girlfriend. She's my beta-reader, too, and I'll be writing it in English :)

This is my first time, so I'm interested in seeing how far I actually get. As far as plot/characters are concerned..... haven't got a clue. I've got so many different unfinished/barely begun novellas/novels, that I've decided to just sit down and write. Although I'm very much a SciFi guy, I'll try something different and stay away from the genre. Perhaps delve into interpersonal drama more.
I'm used to churning out prose (or I used to be). I worked as a freelance journalist for a business magazine some years ago. Fiction, on the other hand has always been a problem. I have an unbearable tendency to get lost in tinkering with characters and locales, so that the plot loses its, err... plot.
Just to put the pressure on, I have several projects that have to be delivered in November :o), so I'll really see how good I am at meeting deadlines.
This is going to be fun, in a very macabre sense. I suspect we'll all need a bit of gallows humor as the month progresses.
All the best and good luck to all of us.

Good afternoon into the Danish round!
I am writing from Odense, the Danish town of fairytales. And my inspiration is, that I want to have a 100.000 word novel completed by the end of November. Talk about a challenge? Thing is, at this very moment it already has 43218 words in it! And all the most exciting bits are written and done. What I need to do now is to join them all together. And that's where it gets tricky ... and I need to get the nice hard kick up the you-know-what, to bring this thing along the home stretch.
Oh by the way. I am writing in German. The novel, I mean, not this post, case you are wondering are you suddenly able to read German? No, I am in fact German. Married to a good ol' Fynbo.

Hey there! I'm living in Aarhus as an exchange student from California so this is my first NaNo abroad haha, but I've been doing this since 2004. I've won 3 times but lost twice so I'd really like to make this year a win in light of last year's loss. My Danish is beyond horrible so I'll obviously be writing this in English.
Good music is my number one inspiration though. Music is my number one inspiration and without the right mood music, I can't write. Lately I've been listening to a lot of soundtracks but otherwise I stick to indie music.
Hopefully I can meet up with some local Danes and have fun with as we trek through this insanity!
