The Kick off Party is going to be on November 1st @ Panera Bread in Valpo! It will start at 6 PM.

WRITE INS Are currently planned for Wednesday and Sunday. Times and Locations will be determined.

Nice to meet you!

Hoping that I can make the kickoff party and possibly a write-in at some point. I have my story idea ready (unless I change my mind this month, that is) and am super excited about plowing through the entire thing in a month.

Hello Anni. Great to meet you and thanks for doing this.

I'm up for the Kick off Party and probably one or two write-ins depending on my work schedule. Looking forward to meeting all the NaNos from NWI this year.

Hello again Anni! I could not make many events last year but this year looks promising. I will definitely be at Panera on the first for the Kick-Off Party. Hopefully I will see a bunch of other writers there and I wish everyone the best of luck this year.

Hi Anni and All!

I'm Mari and this is my 5th NANO (only 2 wins, so far). I'll definitely make it to the kick-off and I'll try to get to at least one other event. I can't wait to meet the cra--I mean, courageous writer of 2 NANO novels.

Thanks for being the Indiana ML Extraordinaire.

Hi, everyone! I'm Ashleigh, and this is my first NaNo. I was wondering if we'll ever have any gatherings in Fort Wayne. I'm unable to travel, as I have school everyday. So just curious = ]

Hi Ashleigh!

First off, Welcome to NaNoWriMo!

Sadly, I cannot travel to Fort Wayne for Events due to my work schedule. There are usually people in Fort Wayne that hold events at the library so hopefully you can attend one of those.

If you have any other questions, please let me know!

Hi everyone! I'm Amber, and this is my second NaNo, I didn't get to 50,000 words last year, but I'm going to win this time. :)

I'm not sure how my schedule will work out yet, but I hope to be able to be at the kick-off.

good luck to everyone!

Hey all! Hope to see you at the kick off! Should be able to make it!

As I said in my other thread, I'm Mike, just moved back here from Hawaii, and this is my third year with Nano. Haven't lost yet, and don't plan to this year!

Not sure what my novel will be about... couple of ideas floating in my head, so we'll see!

One thing we did in Hawaii was either once a week or every other week threw a board game or movie night during November, as kind of a detox day from the week's frantic writings. Would anyone be interested in that this year?

Snap. I've never traveled any further than Kokomo by myself before, so I don't think I'll be able to make it to the kickoff (definitely won't with my crapped out car battery), but I'm glad to see other people posting on here!

I'm Brianne, and live in Logansport, ~2 hours southeast of Valpo. This is my first time participating in NaNo, but I'm definitely determined to win. At the moment, I'm preparing myself for November by writing a completely different story, but I've got a few different ideas for the actual challenge. Hopefully I'll decide before the end of the month!

And here's hoping I'll be able to attend any future meetings that might be scheduled.

Mike, I think a movie/game night would be excellent for something that could easily become stressful. And by November, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will most def. be out!

Sooooo last year didn't scare you enough? Thank you for taking on the region again, especially with an illness in the family! I hope to be able to get to the Kick-off like last year. It was fun.

Hey there! I'm Kitrona; I live in Hammond with my husband, our son, and our 3 cats. This is my third year dong Nano; I took two years off because of my son (born in September; that year was a definite bust, and last year I was not up to writing AND taking care of a small child), but I'm back!

My goal this year is just to write. I have a basic storyline, but it's nothing original; I just want to get all my words! :)

So I guess if you're a fan of Transformers Brianne then I won't have to worry about suggesting the geekier sorts of movies/boardgames. Actually, one card game that our group in Honolulu got into was 1000 Blank White Cards, which sort of makes it own rules as you play. Great for getting the creativity flowing.

I have to say it's kind of strange knowing that there are places that take more than 30 minutes to drive to here... definitely got used to being on an island. Can't imagine the logistics of finding a central meeting place is easy. :/

Tyler: Welcome aboard, you'll love it. Sorry you can't make the kick off, but make sure to come to the write-ins. That's where I always have the best time with Nano at least. :)

Michigan City?! Awesome! I'm from MC too.

I'll try to make it to the KickOff party. I don't think I'm managed to make one.... ever. But I'll try. Funds are tight and getting to Valpo is difficult in Nov.

Ekhi here. Lowell resident. If every I wished my girlfriend still went to school in Valpo, it would be now. I would love to get there for the Kick off party, but we'll see how it goes. I've been spending most my my time not planning, not worrying, but plastering my college with notices for Nanowrimo (and fiercely defending my bulletin board space. It's mine, I tell you. Mine.). And attempting to do my homework a month in advance.

It's not really working so well.

Just saying hello & introducing myself (peeking around to see if anyone familiar is here),

I'm Lynn- I'm at home with 3 under 5yrs old and my prime writing time will be the nap zone & late at night- so, we'll see if it'll get me to 50K...I figure, the only way I really lose is to not write at all. Even if I only get 10K finished, it's 10K more than I've written for this story so far.

I won't be making it out to the parties-- will party in my heart & online vicariously through all of you. I hope it's a blast and lots of writing gets done.

Not sure how often I'll pop in here-- will try to avoid my computer for any reason but word counts & actual writing during November-- otherwise, distraciton & procrastination (my evil twin archnemeses) lurk in tabs unclicked.

Good luck to all of you & may 50k word counts and statuses as winners be yours!

Hey all,

I'm back this year for a fourth time, hoping to get to 50 large for only a second time. I'll try to make it to as many events as possible. Writing is this strange pasttime, where you need much time by yourself for your craft, yet without contact of others, how can you be a good writer?

(I promise none of you will be a character in my novel.)

I think it's time I signed in this year. I want to warn you all that there is literally NO excuse whatsoever not to hit the 50K mark by the end of the month. Not only that, but you will be asked to take notes along the way AND keep up with my work.

Any questions? I didn't think so.

Now for the rest of you, those who claim to be "experienced" at the art of NaNo, this is a no-whining exercise.

So get your heads down, those fingernails filed and the brain cells aflutter.

1. Plot (check)
2. Main character (check)
3. Setting (check)
5. Voice (check)

4. Title (see how easy that is, Chris)

Rock on. I am here in Valparaiso and I am not only a longtime NaNoist, but I have actually written some real novels.
I once had an agent (or did she have me?)

I think there is a song in there somewhere ..........................................

Oz never did give nuthin' to the Tin Man that he didn't already have.

Later.

Hi all,

I'm Lisa. I did (and won!) NaNoWriMo in 2007. Had to take a break last year because I was pregnant and EXHAUSTED. Not sure how much better it will be this year with a 6 month old, but I'm gonna take a stab at it! I manage the Pontiac Branch of the Allen County Public Library and will be hosting write-ins here each Saturday from 10-noon and 3-6. We'll have about 12 laptops in the meeting room, or bring your own! Happy NaNo-ing!

Second year first full year for me here in Highland. I am up to a game night as that is something I do when I am not writing. I am having trouble with character developement right now as my character seems to be less developed than when I write short stories. Any suggestions?

For those having trouble coming to events. The problem with Indiana is it's miles of Cornfields and then a giant suburb then miles more of cornfields. Lucky for you Nano's there are a couple of extra spots where I know you can write. in south Bend the Notre dame region also exists, For the more southerly northerly i believe there is a purdue Nano and also an indianapolis Nano so if you can't make one make sure to go to one near you.
Last year I went to mostly Chi town events so this year I plan on staying local.

I plan on winning this year but I also don't plan on stopping once I reached the cutoff. So I may just double novel it because I haven't stopped writing.
