The topic always comes up. So: What's in your survival kit? I literally have a box of supplies this year. :-D

1. Laptop/Netbook (not in the box)
2. Thumb drives.
3. External HDD.
4. Candy
5. Soda (not in the box)
6. No Plot? No Problem!
7. Spiral notebook/pens
- and probably a lot more I'm forgetting at the moment.

What's in yours (literally or figuratively)?

Exciting! I want to get an actual box and put stuff in it, that would be so neat :)

*resolves to find box asap and commence decoration rather than novel plotting*

I would like:

1. Clean fluffy socks (I sit on my feet and get pins and needles, so no slippers)
2. Chocolate Mallowpuffs (the slogan is "have you done enough for a mallowpuff" - great incentive to keep going!)
3. Pencils for editing plans and notes
4. Plans and notes
5. Waterbottle
6. Cuddly toy and/or pillow
7. MALTESERS!!! Like popcorn but better.

Hmm, let's see:

1: Thick socks and fingerless gloves (I get cold way too easily).
2: Tea of varying flavours, but mostly the regular stuff, and green tea.
3: My Laptop.
4: USB Drive.
5: A Notebook and pens for writing when I'm not at the computer.
6: Some sort of snack that won't make me fat.

I think I'm forgetting stuff.

1. Laptop (plus a selection of Pilot G2 pens and a notebook, just in case)
2. Portable mouse (so I can turn off the touchpad and quit inserting words in random places when my palm touches it)
3. Three bags of assorted flavors Lindt chocolate truffles

5. Filter For Good water bottle - dehydration induces writer's block and unanticipated naps!
6. Selection of books: Dictionary/Thesaurus, No Plot, No Problem, and two or three other favorite tomes
7. Post-its for story ideas that don't fit with the scene at hand
8. Photos of the places I'm using as setting inspiration

and 10. My new hat, which also serves as my writing totem and protection from my inner editor.

Onward ho, fellow novelists!

I'm gettin' me a box.

Laptop
Notebooks
Pens, lots and lots of pens
Mountain Dew
Food that is easily and quickly prepared and can be eaten in front of a computer while typing.
Music
Charlie, my chihuahua half of my funny ideas come from his antics
Water
Humpty, my stuffed egg that I've had since I was 1

I'm probably forgetting several necessities that I'll die without later, but that's all I know I need.

Notebook (Which one still to be determined)
Sugary things (For rewards)
Vegetable things (New addition this year)
Writing totems (In the form of arm sleeves or gloves depending on which ones I find)
No Plot? No Problem! (Book and kit, unless someone else needs my book again this year)

I need a box...
It will contain:
1) Netbook (it's pink and will fit in my box)
2) Notebook and free freshers' fair pens. Will contain a mix of lecture notes and novel scribblings before very long
3) Phone (Blackberry, for limited internet access when I'm at uni (dumb laptop doesn't work with the WiFi on campus) and texting people for ideas. And music. And stuff)
4) Bottle of cola. To be topped up regularly
5) Dressing gown (OK, maybe that won't be in the box)
6) Captain Jack model, so he can glare at me when I rip him apart from Ianto again and make me give Ianto back
7) Bandanas in various colours, becasue there's nothing more annoying than hair in my face.

ETA:
8) Items of fruit
9) items of chocolate
10) Fudge from the best fudge shop in the world to reward myself every 10000 words

5. Sometimes The Magic Works by Terry Brooks
6. Giant, noise-cancelling headphones

8. Bag of bite-sized dark chocolates
9. Writing Totem: a fuzzy blue scarf I found at a thrift store
10. Travel mug (preferably full of fresh brewed tea or coffee)
11. USB drive

3. Small Moleskine Notebook for writing ideas when laptops aren’t allowed in class.
4. No Plot? No Problem by Chris Baty - or The NaNo Bible as I call it.
5. Twitter, for a small amount of distraction that won’t get me off track.
6. Ear covering headphones, to cancel out people talking to me, and to listen to music.
7. Large bag of Plain M&M’s - one or two per decent sized paragraph.
8. Chai Tea Lattes when available.
9. Scarves to keep warm.
10. Laptop Bag - for toting everything around campus to write at any moment.

I'm getting excited.... I try to wait to prepare my survival kit until October, because it gives me something to procrastinate with while I should be plotting... And it helps me countdown the days until November 1st!

My list of items to get:
*My Lappy (my laptop which I already have)
*Red Bull, Mountain Dew, Starbucks Double Shot Ice Coffees
*Halloween Candy Out The Butt (Twix, Candy Corn, Milky Ways)
*Sour Cream and Onion Pringles
*My Blue Binder
*Sharpie Pens (my new favorites)
*Candles
*Cartons of Salem Slim 100's Box Cigarettes
*Wine for a reward after my daily word count

And more to come, I'm sure...

Mine aren't in a kit, but are scattered about:

1. Desktop computer for writing during the day
2. Netbook for writing outside the home and for when I'm lolling on the sofa
3. Flash drives
4. Raven mascot
5. Small turquoise notebooks and Pilot Hi-Tecpoint pens with turquoise ink
6. Index cards for each of my characters with their descriptions and suitable pics from the net if I can find them
7. Phone close by for emergencies and/or moral support
8. Absolute quiet... I can't write when I hear people talking, and the only music allowed is the sound of nature (thunder, rain, crashing waves, etc.) on CD or the real thing
9. No liquids or messy foods are permitted near my computers as I've done a lot of damage to keyboards in the past
10. Post-it notes stuck on the monitor to remind me to take breaks and stand up, stretch, walk around, and find food and beverages to sustain me

Pretty similar to others' here.

- My laptop (Toshiba Satellite) named Chiara
- My iPod Classic named Candy Angel
- Flashdrive
- Blue plaid Dr. Seuss 'Cat Hat' baseball cap
- Copy of 'No Plot, No Problem'
- NaNo contract copied out and posted in front of me (from Chris' book)

- Maple sugar candy for special treats (reaching special goals)
- Fingerless gloves
- NaNo Funds Jar (actually, it's an old pickle jar that's been washed out and decorated. I throw a couple of bucks in for every thousand words I write, to be spent on something splurgy and non-essential after it's over)
- Tea
- Milestone Rewards (also known as "carrot on a stick"), as yet to be determined

1. Coca-Cola (in liters)
2. homemade hot chocolate (in gallons)
3. blank sketchbooks - I deplore writing on lined paper, for some strange reason unbeknownst even to me
4. my special pen - not too hard a stroke, not too light a stroke, just the right size to hold, shiny, & sentimentally valuable (everyone in my HS orchestra got one and a matching mechanical pencil as a graduation present)
5. pizza pringles for the writing munchies
6. orange juice to clear the junk food haze of the pringles
7. excedrin (in bulk)

there will soon be a new addition to the pile, this year - my brand-new hackintosh nano (an MSI wind running OSX with a glowing apple modded onto the cover). Of course, if Apple revamps and lowers prices on their Macbook line in the next few weeks, as rumors abounding would tell, I might be able to spring for an actual mac instead of above-mentioned hackintosh.

Does anyone else have a sweettooth and a taste for junkfood that must both be satisfied in order to face November?

This is my first year, but I'm starting my kit. Here is the plan for it :D

1. Netbook (which I'm buying at the end of the month instead of the PS3 I'd planned. Somehow finally getting my PS3 2 days before NaNoWriMo seemed like a bad idea.)
2. Zune with every song I can think of and several different playlists.
3. Stargate DVDs (yes, I have movies while I write)
4. Skittles, lots and lots of skittles.
5. New desk and chair (agreed with whoever said their current one would kill their back)
6. Some NaNo swag
7. Notebook and pens - because sometimes I just can't type and write.
8. Box of my organic Earl Grey Tea
9. My brits (won't fit in the box but my G1 will so they can txt me) who will harass me about wordcounts
10. Beaver Buzz energy drinks

I'm just going with some basics:

1. laptop
2. my favorite purple binder with a bear in a top hat drawn on it, stuffed full of paper of course
3. Tea
4. Apples
5. Itunes

Maybe toss some "quite" and "time" in there too, but they were out at the market when I went.

My survival kit this year is a bit different from previous Nanos:

1 My laptop, recently inherited from my Dad after mine died, mostly because he wanted to buy a MacBook
2 Spiral bound notebook
3 Many pencils (and a sharpener)
4 Post it notes by the bucketload
5 My Camp NaNoWriMo tshirt (still waiting on delivery...)

and this is the different bit...

6 My 8 month old daughter crawling around my feet, pulling all the cds off the rack and trying to use the keyboard.
That can only make things easier. Right?

My Survival Kit Includes the following -
1. My netbook - small and light, yet durable and ergonomically pleasing.
2. Q10 - A very useful programme for a procrastinator: Full screen with a simple layout and a live word counter.
3a. Peach cordial - My favourite drink. But only when using lemonade instead of water.
3b. Romulan Ale - Okay, so it's just lemonade with blue food colouring, but it makes my stories seem so much better...
4. Bananas. And satsumas. Got to have my five a day!
5. My pen-drive with NaNo Briefcase...when I find it.
6. A Viking helmet - Allows the ideas to flow through the horns. Yup, definitely why I'm wearing it...
7. My FreeMind Mind map of my novel - currently overflowing...
8. Currently 2 friends also doing NaNo with me. More will follow...

Woot! NaNo approaches!
