How many years have you participated? Won?:
This is my second year, and I won last year. But, Jeeze, that was a terrible novel.
What’s your novel called this year, and what’s it about?:
My novel is either called a) “August” b) “A Heap of Broken Images” or c) [insert as-of-yet undiscovered fancy title from Mrs. Dalloway]. It’s a Literary Young Adult novel about a bunch of students in a performing arts boarding school, based around the novel Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. Yeah, I have no idea. But at least this year I can explain it in one sentence; that’s a step in the right direction.
Anything else you’d like to share?:
Um. I secretly fight aliens in my spare time? I am also Batman? AND Superman? (I don’t get along with myself.)
Seriously, I am more excited than I’ve ever been excited about anything to be Municipal Liaison this year, and you’re all awesome, and if I could I would personally hug each and every one of you.

Name: Bryan
Age: 26
Location: Arlington, VA
Occupation: Retail energy pricing analyst (whoooooo spreadsheets!)
How many years have you participated in NaNoWriMo? Won?: First timer and nervous as hell.
What’s your novel this year called, and what’s it about?: No title, but I'll try to sum it up in two sentences. A high school teacher returns to the shore town of his earlier years looking for a past summer love, but uncovers a string of mysterious murders.
Anything else you’d like to share?: I'm absolutely obsessed with the setting of my novel, the Wildwoods. Been there every summer as a kid, returned this summer for the first time after an 8-year hiatus. Just the nostalgia factor does it for me, and I think it'd be cool if I was able to take a weekend down there and just write in the setting of my novel.
Now to outline for the next month... well outline is already started but it needs a LOT of work...

What’s your novel this year called, and what’s it about?: *The Witch Stands Alone* -- it's a sequel to my "winner" last year, *Last Witch Standing.* After the death of her husband, the inheritance of a very quirky house, and the mostly -- but not quite -- defeat of The Piper King, LJ Weatherford has finally accepted the fact that she is the Weatherford Witch. Unfortunately, the "Named Witch Committee" disagrees, reassigns her protector, and revokes her right to the Weatherford Witch name and rights -- including the right to protect herself using the little bit of witchcraft she's figured out how to use. To complicate matters, when her best friend, who has also been her staunchest ally, realizes that her own life has fallen apart due to LJ's witch heritage, she heads back home to sort things out, leaving LJ alone in her ever-stranger new home -- the home that has taken to leaving her warnings and notes all over the place. Even worse, LJ has the very distinct feeling that someone is trying to kill her.

What’s your novel this year called, and what’s it about?: I'm revisiting an old one, sort of. The title is the same, but the plot is completely different. It's called Learning How to Smile and is sort of a coming of age/romance story. It's about a young man (mid 20's) who has a beautiful family with a young daughter. The world is beautiful until one night a drunk driver takes everything away from him. Struggling with depression and alcohol, he finds the one person who teaches him how to smile again.
Anything else you’d like to share?: I hope to make it so some write-ins this year, as I finally have a laptop to take with me!

What’s your novel this year called, and what’s it about?: Don't have a name just yet. It's about a group of women who meet up at a book store in Chicago, but it's not the first time they've met and their paths through life and intertwined in ways they haven't even figured out yet. Also, some of them are vampires and have been around for many interesting time periods throughout history. What’s your novel this year called, and what’s it about?:
"Crowbar Girl"
It's a cross between a Magical Girl Anime (think Sailor Moon) and Neil Gaiman's American Gods. Three high school seniors, including the titular Crowbar weilding mechanic-in-training, fight against a plot by evil gods to subjugate and sacrifice the human race. It started as a satire idea that took on a life of it's own, and now the characters want their time on the page.

Name: Denice, though online I go as QS.
Age: 22.
Location: Technically Tansboro, NJ, but Berlin or Winslow Township for sake of people knowing what I'm talking about. XD
Occupation: Pharmacy Technician at your friendly neighborhood Wal Mart.
How many years have you participated in NaNoWriMo? Won?: 2002-2008, never won. Planning on changing that this year!
What’s your novel this year called, and what’s it about?: Well, the title I'm working with is currently The City of Experiments. It's a post-apocalyptic fantasy set on modern day Earth, but strangely lacking in zombies. All I've really got for an idea so far is backstory: the US government (perhaps in conjunction with other world governments?) has been kidnapping people from around the country and performing various experiments on them that somehow gave the experimentees magical powers. Eventually, one of them was driven insane due to the experiments/magical abilities and having had their entire memory wiped and all and staged a rebellion that more or less started World War III. In the end, the US is forced to bomb it's own capital with a nuclear missile to destroy said person, etc.. However, three people managed to escape the facility in Philadelphia where they were all being experimented on before the rebellion, and in the aftermath of the War, this is their story. What they're doing for said story I HAVE NO IDEA. But they team up with some general guy that isn't magical, mostly because they can. XD
Anything else you’d like to share?: I actually write year-round, and WriMo has never been anything I've taken seriously. I'm hoping to change that this year, and to get a decent first draft of a novel soon after winning. The good news is I'm prone to babbling and quite excited about my characters. The bad news is I've got the attention span of a goldfish with ADHD on crack. Hopefully some of you will be able to help me stay on target! :3
In other news, I collect pretty notebooks, have four kitties that I adore (and they all just got baths!), and I have a tendency to make characters using the elouai dollmaker.
----------2009 || The City of Experiments: yeah, changing at the last minute. go me. i need to plan next year. just writing fic instead.

The first one involves me taking perhaps three Japanese myths and turning them into detailed stories. However, I feel like that may take too much research time.

Once before this year and I didn't win *sad face* I kinda just stopped writing because I was getting caught up in other stuff. Lame other stuff -.-
What’s your novel this year called, and what’s it about?:
Well, I have two novels planned. One, either re-write the original idea of last years book and call it, "Blue Dust." Or two, the one that I'm leaning toward, "ME two letters, a thousand masks" which is hopefully going to be an autobiography type thing about a girl who has trust issues and feels like she has to make herself over and over again all the time. Basically this deep book about finding yourself, "the real you"

How many years have you participated in NaNoWriMo? Won?:
Last year was my first year. Somehow, I won! Poor draft needs work though. Excited (and nervous) about this year!
What’s your novel this year called, and what’s it about?:
I haven't decided yet, but I have several ideas. I just need to work them all out and figure out which one I can get the most words out of in a short time and write the easiest. This November's gonna be busy, so I'm trying to plan a lot more than last year so I won't get too stuck. Yeah... that'll probably not work anyway. But most likely it'll be some form of fantasy, maybe suspense.
Anything else you’d like to share?:
I'm thinking about hosting some write-ins more in my area, since according to this site I'm not in Central or South Jersey so it's terribly hard to get to any of either write-ins or kick-off parties. I'd also like to try to gather teens specifically, but currently we're not sure where to host or if anyone will even come. So message me if you're willing to come to a possible write in in the Mercer County/Trenton-ish area!
I also horse back ride and have a horse of my own (who is currently away for intense re-training while I re-train myself). Do what you will with that information.
Also, anyone an Assassin's Creed fan? Yeah, that's one of the reasons November's gonna be busy!
Oh, and I can't spell for my life. Runs in my family (dad can't spell, brother can't spell, sister can't spell... only my mom can! Oh fun genetics). Yay spell-check!

How many years have you participated in NaNoWriMo? Won?: I started in 2003 and have participated in some fashion every year since. I won (with exactly 50,000 words EACH TIME) in 2003, 2005, and 2007. That's three wins, three losses for those keeping score at home. The pattern calls for a win in 2009, and I do hate to break an established pattern.
What’s your novel this year called, and what’s it about?: I suggest you check out my profile for some yummy novel synopsis! I've aimed for a science fiction theme again this year, as that's the only genre that truly engages my creativity. But there are no aliens, no spaceships, and no laser guns. It's more of a sociology-and-toxicology science than an astrophysics-and-extraterrestial science. I'll probably add subplots involving mistranslated languages and contrasting social mores to complement the underlying theme of "what else could go wrong?" my main character is about to experience. But she can handle it. I think.
Anything else you’d like to share?: If I added my forum posts to my wordcount, I'd probably reach 50k in the first two weeks. Not going to happen, though. =P

How many years have you participated in NaNoWriMo? Won?: This is my first year participating so therefore I have not won any yet!
What’s your novel this year called, and what’s it about?: Hmmm, Okay, I hadn't really thought about the name of this novel, so that will require a lot of thinking... like maybe I could call it, "Georgianna Peel" or something like that goes with the plot like "Self Deception". So basically that would be explained by my telling you about my story, right? Well, this is sort of like my homage to Jane Austen. I have it set in 1813, the year of the publication of Pride and Prejudice, before she was acknowledged as the author but after it was published. The girl is a baronet's daughter with a brother and a recently married sister. In the wedding many of the new brother-in-law's friends come, and since he has many connections, he has a lot of noblemen there. One of which takes a liking to the main character but this character is so convinced of his liking many of the other ladies she refuses to see his true motive. There are plenty of other romances and misunderstood people, but it will prove to have a true Austen ending.
Anything else you’d like to share?: I am SO excited to do it this year, i planned on doing it last year but just decided not to at the last moment, so this time I'm not backing out, I've done way too much research to go back on it now.

Name: Jason
Age: 31, will be 32 when NaNo starts
Location: Gloucester County
Occupation: I spend my days hydro-testing high pressure tanks, among other related things. It's a family business so the upside is that I work for my parents....the downside is I work for my parents. I spend my nights programming, working on my own projects, but am currently talking to someone about a game development job. So my time might become pretty tight, but the good news is I have a lot of free time, so finding time for NaNo won't be a problem. Motivation is a different story...
How many years have you participated in NaNoWriMo? Won?: I think 3. 2004-2006 I think were the years I gave it a good try. Skipped 07 and last year's effort lasted a day before I realized I did not have the time. No wins. Plan to get back into it this year since I have time now and I am really looking forward to it. The last couple of years, NaNo came and went, but this year I am actually a bit anxious so perhaps this is finally the year I get a win.
What’s your novel this year called, and what’s it about?: No title yet. It's a fantasy novel. I don't really have an organized plan for it, just a bunch of random plot ideas and a general idea of what I want to do. I have some work to do with creating characters and an outline this month. The one time I tried to get a good outline together was my best try (got to 25k). The others when I went in with no plan were total fail. So I need to work on that.
Anything else you’d like to share?: Other activities I use to fill up my free time include playing video games, learning German and Japanese (Beginner-Intermediate with German but my German vocab really sucks and is 'all over the place', just started Japanese), learning to play keyboard/piano - total beginner at that as well.

What’s your novel this year called, and what’s it about?: No idea yet, though I'm pretty sure it's going to be somewhere within the broad genre of speculative fiction, and probably closer to the fantasy side of that than anything else, because that's most of what I write.

Well, I love to bake, but I'm kind of so so on cooking. I won't cook anything fish. I love to draw! I'm getting pretty darn good at it too. My current favorite thing in the world to do is spend some time with my niece! She's going to be one by the time November rolls along, and I'm prepping for a little nephew come January. I love movies, dogs, watching TV, reading some old favorites, and WRITING!!
Greetings all and best of luck to you!
Words to Ponder:
Avoiding the phrase “I don’t have time...”, will soon help you to realize that you do have the time needed for just about anything you choose to accomplish in life.
