Hello all fellow writers!
Everyone excited about 2009? Is anyone working on any big write-in plans anywhere? You'll probably see me at the Starbucks on Quaker on 82nd doing a lot of writing!
:-)

Hello back. I can't believe that it is nearly that time again. This year has flown by.
I'm never too sure on my ability to make write-ins. My schedule is always pretty chaotic and is even more so this year. I tend to just do most of my writing at home and then offer my support from the sidelines of the forums.

As a newbie i'm scared shirtless you could say. Looking forward to writing for NaNoWriMo but the fear of failure grips my heart and twists with it's icy cold touch. Anyways... good luck to everyone.

Hello all! I'm pretty excited about November. But it's gong to be an absolutely INSANE month for me!
[Ahh... isn't school just fabulous that way? Making everyone- *twitch*.... a tad crazy. *twitch*]
But I would love to do a write-in this year! I missed out on it completely last year and felt very deprived.

Get with child a mandrake root,
Tell me where all past years are,
Or who cleft the devil's foot,
Teach me to hear mermaids singing,
Or to keep off envy's stinging,
And find, what wind, serves to advance an honest mind."

I think if enough people were interested we could certainly find a place.

I'm a n00b to NaNoWriMo, and I'm super excited about this year. The most I've ever written was in a technical paper for my Electrical Engineering class, so this will be interesting. I would say that I'm scared shirtless, but I think I have the skills to BS my way through this thing.
If there are any write-ins, I would love to participate. Tell me a time and a place and I'll try to be there. I am excited about meeting some fellow aspiring writers and sharing ideas.

first time trying out wrimo, ive never written before, another scared shirtless victim. i actually live in new mexico, but i travel to lubbock all the time. and theres no one anywhere near me participating in nanowrimo, bunch of losers, anyways, a write-in sounds interesting, so if one is organized let me know and ill see if it'll fit in to my increasingly hectic schedule. thanks.

I'm a first timer, too. I watched the progress of a couple of wrimo'ing friends over the last couple of years and decided to take a shot myself this year. My regular schedule of writing (which is non-existent) doesn't doesn't seem to be working.

Hello, everyone! This is my first year to participate in NaNoWriMo, but I'm not a new writer. I've been writing professionally since 1979. My husband is also a writer. Together, we've published 60+ books, mostly NF for children/teens, with some novels thrown in from me, plus a brand new release from CrickHollow Books called Fill-in-the-Blank Plotting, explaining and demonstrating my method of combining the three-act structure with the Hero's Journey on plotting boards. I've been waiting five years for this book to come out and it's finally going to make it, just in time for the Golden Triangle Writers Guild Conference in Beaumont, October 22-25, where I'll be talking about Strong Writing, which includes structured plotting. If any of you might be interested in coming, it's going to be a wonderful conference. www.gtwg.org
In November I'll be writing a new romance for the Special Editions line at Silhouette. Historicals are almost non-existent these days at H/S, so I decided to go with the vast majority of what they publish and switch to contemporary. My novel is a reverse Cinderella story--"Don't pick me!"--and takes place in Lubbock and Austin!
It'll be great to stay in touch with writers from my area. I live in Seminole.
Looking forward to being in Beaumont in two weeks, and to getting to know all of you during November!

More excited than I have been the last couple of years. Slow season for my for-pay writing work, so it looks like I'll have time to expand on an idea I've been kicking around for several months.

Hey guys. :3 I said I wasn't going to do it this year and yet here I am...
I think a cool place to write would be this new place that just opened up called The Arrogant Texan. it's such a quiet place with nice, soothing music and CANDY.
It's along University if anyone is interested. They have really good coffee and stuff too. :3 Locally owned and everything.
(I really love the place and want to see it do well.)
Not a lot of ideas for a novel yet. I waited a little late to change my mind and decide to play... I kind of have this idea about a child star who fame does nasty things to and he drops off the face of the earth, but is pulled back into the limelight by some kind of incident. ... We'll see.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I'm glad to be here and looking forward to my first nanowrimo. How should I write a howl? (Like that of a coyote or wolf) That's what I feel like doing right now! I'm excited! There are too few things where people can really express themselves and their passion and I think this will be a great chance to cut loose. No limits or restrictions.

Is there a writers club in Lubbock? I'd love to get in touch with them. If anyone can send me a contact name/number, I'd really appreciate it. Please send it to WriterLindaG@live.com Thanks!
The conference in Beaumont was great! They're already planning next year's bash---October 12-14. Check out this special club online. www.gtwg.org They also have a Facebook page.
We all had a great time and some great food! And, we gathered at Pappadeaux Friday night. I saw friends I hadn't seen in 2/6/10 years! I'll definitely be going back.
I've been interested in all the posts about where to write during November. Alas, I can't write anywhere that isn't quiet. That means I'm tied to my desk at home, but that's where I love to be when the story is playing like a movie in my mind and my characters are telling me what to write next.
I'm ready to start! My novel is plotted using my own plotting method. My book on this method came out about 12 days ago! My editor came from Milwaukee to Beaumont and we launched FILL-IN-THE-BLANK PLOTTING and shared it with all who attended. When the blanks are filled, the synopsis is written!
Good luck to everyone in November!

Hey, everybody! This is my...fourth? year to participate in Nano, and this is THE year, I just know it! 50,000, here I come. I actually have a plot this year, so that helps (and if that doesn't work, my characters are going to reveal themselves as aliens from Cocoon; glow, babies, GLOW). I just moved here from Dallas, so this is my first time to participate in the Lubbock nano group. Write-ins are great, so I'm in if it works out with my schedule.

Hello Lubbock. I'm a Tennessee transplant who's been in Lubbock for the last 2 years. My wife's working on a PhD at TTU, and I'm working full-time-plus as a project planner for a web startup. My undergrad was in creative writing, but I was never satisfied with the short-story-focused route it took. Maybe I'm just weird, but I prefer to give my characters room to grow. I'm hoping to use Nanowrimo to get back in the habit of regular writing. This whole spur-of-the-moment bit is a gamble at best. But really, I'll never know unless I try.
