Hello, vlogbrotherlovers! I know there are a lot of us who are NaNoWriMoing this year - there have to be.
So step up and say hi.
Express your nerdiness.
Discuss your novels.
Discuss the Ning. (Not that you have to visit the Ning to be a nerdfighter...I haven't stopped by there in approximately a year and a half.)
I'm trying to follow the N theme, here, but nothing more is coming to me.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to start this thread!
I'm the Co-ML for my region, and I am so totally a NerdFighter! At least one of my wrimos is a NerdFighter as well, and hopfully i can poke him into posting here as well.
Last night, I was waiting for the site to relaunch, I started at the beginning of the vlogbrothers videos and watched them in order. I got up to about may before I gave up (Apparently right after I went to sleep, the site came back up. It was just like santa, you wait forever to catch him and as soon as you close your eyes and drift off to lalaland, thats when he comes down your chimney).

Sounds like we've been watching the Vlogbrothers for about the same amount of time, then! I was very sad to learn that I'd come in just after it stopped being an everyday event.
I'm a college student at Whitman, in southeastern Washington State...don't think there are too many fellow Nerdfighters out thisaway. :)

I started watching sometime in 2008. I ended up watching the fiveawesomeguys vids, then the fiveawesomegirls vids, and THEN I watched all the vlogbrothers vids. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, Nerimon was the reason I did NaNoWriMo last year

Hi!
I haven't watched the videos consistently for a while now, there seem to be too many other things going on in my life, but I still consider myself a nerdfighter, if only due to extensive nerdiness.

Hello!
I'm proud to say that I'm a nerdfighter. Got into the videos a little late, around this time last year, but I've seen every single one! :)
Also have been to two nerdfighter gatherings, the Paper Towns release party and LeakyCon!
I can't wait to do NaNo this year. I've been excited for it since I finished last year.
Also, John tweeted like two hours ago that he might be doing NaNo too. Wouldn't that be fun?

Oh. Em. Gee.
That would be so exciting.
I got into NaNoWriMo through the Giant in the Playground forums, which are my favorite geeky hangout place (I've been an active participant since before the vlogbrothers started vlogging...so not that Nerdfighteria's not great, just the Playground got to me first ;) ). But the Nerdfighters are pretty amazing tooo....

Hey all!
I am a long-time vlogbrotherlover, and a first time wrimo. I actually decided to do this about 10 minutes ago, but I think it sounds like an amazing challenge. I am on the ning under this same name, but I am hardly ever there.
More info about me- I am a 21 year old female from Texas who is taking some time off of school right now to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Luckily, this means that all I will have going on during November is work. Oh, and wrockstock!!

The name's Katie. I've been a Nerdfighter for about a year now (yay!), and I'm also a MASSIVE Harry Potter fan. (Hufflepuff, kthx.) This is my first time doing NaNoWriMo, and I have a feeling having Nerdfighters there with me will make a huge difference. I'm sooo excited to get started. 8DD
Also bluebonnet21, I'm pretty sure we're friends on Skype! You know Esther and Arka and all them, yeah?

I am a very new Nerdfighter but an oldschool Nano-er (well going back to 2005).
I don't know where I found my first vlogbrothers video but my university went on strike around this time last year (awesome for nano) and by January when the strike was still going on I started spending too much time on youtube which led me to the vlogbrothers where I then proceeded to watch all the videos in order.
:)
Happy noveling all.
(and even if John doesn't nano Maureen is cheerleading and that's almost as good)
Finding Maureen Johnson's blog and twitter feed is my favourite part of becoming a nerdfighter. That and Hank's songs. And John's political rants. God I love his rants.
Anyways.
Happy novelling.

Full of awesome. Seriously, like, OVERFLOWING with awesome.
My name is Kate, and I'm a Nerdfighter.
(Hi, Kate.)
I'm a band NF, a book NF, a WriMo NF, and... well, several other varieties, actually. I'm also a high school English teacher. And I'm trying to subliminally indoctrinate my students into Nerdfighteria. Over my door is a big DFTBA in pink letters, and while some teachers excuse their classes by saying "Stay out of trouble" or "Have a great afternoon," I close my class by saying "Don't forget to be awesome." Makes me smile every single time.
Oh, and did I mention that some of the teachers performed the "Crank Dat/Soulja Boy" dance at a talent show, and we couldn't throw real gang signs, but we got approval to throw the Nerdfighter sign? I'm probably the only person who knew what it was, but still. Win. :)

YES! YES! YES! NERDFIGHTERS!!
I've been a nerdfighter for about...oh, two or three years now, I think. I met John and Hank during the Tour de Nerdfighting. :D I really need to catch up on the old brotherhood videos; I've seen some, but definately not all. I'm more familiar with the videos they've posted in the past year.
Anyway, I'm a member of the Ning, though I don't go there all that often. I'm a Harry Potter nerdfighter, a NaNoWriMo nerdfighter, a Mortal Instruments nerdfighter, and a Twilight (DO NOT JUDGE!!) nerdfighter.

I love that.
I teach afterschool programs (science club and chess club .... nerdfighters!) anyways, I should totally start having "Don't forget to be awesome" as my end of class line when I send them all home. I like that it's sort of an all-purpose 'inspiring' type thing to say even if none of the kids get it.
Totally borrowing your idea.
Unless this causes you to be sad. In which case I can restrain myself.
:)

Well, I am too new to be an official NerdFighter. I only found the Vlogbrothers about a week ago. I guess that makes me a noobfighter. Anywho, I Absolutely love the episodes that I have seen of the Vlogbrothers and plan to spend more of my free time catching up from the beginning. I just saw this thread and went, "Holy Crap, I know what that is, well sort of, in a very loosely connected way."
So yeah..

Thanks. I appreciate it. Though I am not sure what Kind of Nerdfighter I would be. Either way. My real name is Stephen Bartholomew, (hmm, same initials as my username.) I'm not a member of the Ning but I did check it out just briefly. Looks like there is a Ton of good things to look through and investigate. Once I have a few moments of free time, I'll look more into it.
As far as my novel goes. This is copied directly from the post I left in the Satire board.
My project name: Journal entries of the Dungeon Keeper
Brief insight into the telling: You know how the bad guy always seems to have a Dungeon handy in which to throw his nemesis, the good guy. And that dungeon is always well furnished with traps and monsters always poised right around the next corner to maim, maul, burn, tear, and or otherwise mutilate said nemesis. How have these monsters kept from starving? What if a trap misfires, who reset's it? This book reveals the secrets behind the Dungeons. The secrets all lie with the men known as the Dungeon Keepers. (end of copy and paste from novel info) It is a satire on the business world, watch as our dungeon keeper battles through government red tape, drowns in the endless mounds of paperwork, ducks through the grueling course of marketing, goes to dungeon keeper conferences, buys monsters at auctions etc..
What other styles does it emulate? Fantasy ish...
What th' 'eck er we gonna laugh our pants off at: Watch as our diligent Dungeon Keeper faces off with the dreadful organization of PETM (People for the ethical treatment of Monsters)
I am excited to write this story, it has been simmering on the back burner of my brain for at least two years now. Woot.

I don't really know if it's been announced in this thread yet (class is about to get out and I don't have time to check) but John IS officially doing NaNoWriMo this year. I actually pestered Maureen about it over Twitter, and after a squee-enducing @reply, I saw she tweeted again that John agreed to join in on the fun this year. >:D
Maybe we can lure him over to this thread! 8D
