Hello, Tallahassee Wrimos! Welcome to NaNoWriMo 2009! It certainly is going to be a very exciting November!
Rachel here, one of your friendly Municipal Liaisons for this year. You will be hearing from Tallahassee's other ML, Maggie, later. :) Please feel free to add us as friends if you are so inclined. We don't bite, we promise!
For those of you who are new to NaNoWriMo, or new to the Tallahassee region, we are a friendly group of people, and we welcome you heartily! If you're new to the event, I suggest browsing around the NaNoWriMo site for information and all kinds of fun things. If you have any questions or need some help figuring out what the heck is going on here, please don't hesitate to ask.
We have many events coming up, which you can see in our regional Google Calendar, which you can view here, or in our main regional page.
Our first order of business is the KICK OFF PARTY. It will take place at Ray's Steel City Saloon on October 30th, at 6:00pm. We reserved the patio out back so that we can say goodbye to our sanity before NaNoWriMo begins, and be as rambunctious as possible while doing so. We will be playing games, giving out stickers and other fun goodies, and there will be a raffle for some special items (including homemade Writer Survival Kits and an autographed copy of Chris Baty's "No Plot? No Problem!"). Please come out and join us if you are available! We also ask that you please order at least a drink while you're there, since they have given us the back patio for free. :) [And we get our own waitor or waitress, so please don't forget to tip!]
We will have Write-Ins on Saturdays and Sundays all through November. The first three Saturday Write-Ins will take place at the Main Library, upstairs in the Henderson Room, from 1pm to 4pm. The fourth Saturday Write-In will be at the Northeast Branch Library, and will take place from 1pm to 3:45pm.
The Sunday Write-Ins will take place at Panera Bread from 4pm to 8pm.
All of the Write-In venues have free wi-fi, and while food is not allowed at the Main Library, there will be refreshments served at the Northeast Branch, and of course you are free to order food and drinks at Panera Bread [they have lots of caffeinated beverages available!]. :)
If you need your own writing music to jam to, headphones are welcomed, though we ask that you be courteous to the other writers and make sure that they aren't too loud.
I will be sending out an email with all of this information and more soon. Meanwhile, check out the other thread and introduce yourself!
Happy plotting,
Rachel

Hello! I'm Maggie, your other super-excited ML for the Tallahassee region.
Rachel's covered most of the basics, but I'll add a few words of my own.
First off, we are so excited that you're interested in writing a novel with us this year! It doesn't matter if this is your first year trying it out or you're a seasoned veteran at NaNoWriMo. Everyone's welcome to all of the write-ins, and we hope to see you at the kick-off party!
We hope to see you all at any of the many events we're hosting throughout the month. In addition to the door prizes at the kick-off party, there are even more goodies in store to keep morale high throughout the whole month.
I'll be personally hosting the Sunday Write-Ins at Panera Bread. The staff there is super-supportive of our zany noveling adventures, and a good productive time will be had by all. I promise to bring chocolate and caffeine to take home with you at these write-ins, in addition to the fine caffeinated drinks they sell there! ;D
Rachel is in charge of the Saturday write-ins at the library, and they also are bound to be good productive fun.
If neither of these times work for you, then feel free to use the forums to organize your own impromptu write-ins elsewhere during the week. If you're planning to write in public at some point, go ahead and post something about it! Who knows who might decide to show up and join you. ^_^
And of course, feel free to e-mail either of us or post in the forums if you have any questions at all. We definitely do not bite, and we'd love to help make your November a little easier (but no less crazy)!
More stickies and dates will be posted in the coming days, and as always, we'll be reminding you via e-mail about all the super-important stuff.
