Do we know if there will be any weekly write ins around Albany or Corvallis? I saw the ones in October and the Kick off Pary Thursday the 29th (which I'm very excited about and I will be at.) Write ins are always good for keeping up motivation, not to mention meeting fellow writers.

I'm super excited at this years NaNo ;p Just wanted to see what others in my area are planning. Anything at LBCC in Albany? Beaver hang outs? As long as you don't mind a Duck coming to write.

Hi and welcome Kokotankuu!

I updated the calendar last night, it should show you more events now.

Yes, we'll have as an absolute rock bottom base, write-ins every Thursday, alternating between Albany and Corvallis, *probably* at the downtown Beanery in Corvallis and Charlie's Rhythm and Brews coffeehouse in Albany.

In the past we've had a group meet weekly to write on campus at OSU in the library.

Also, I'm working on setting up an "all-day" (10:30-4:30) write-in at the GrassRoots Bookstore (Corvallis) Nov. 7.

I'm wondering if there is any interest in doing one on Nov. 1, the very first day, from say 10:30 to 3:30 (Grassroots closes early on Sundays).

Haven't had much LBCC involvement in the past, but it varies a lot from year to year. Anyone?

I am really excited about the write-ins. i tried to go tone once at the OSU library, couldn't find anyone and ended up just writing on my own. I'm also weird and kinda shy so it's strange to just approach people. I will try to get out of my shell though! I really think the write-ins will be helpful! I really want to win, darn it!!

That being said, I can go to the Thursday write-ins, no problem and meeting up at GrassRoots could be super fun! I'm also down with doing some November 1st writing. I find it's best to get off on the right foot from the beginning. hah.

I don't go to LBCC but I drive past there a lot. I live in Corvallis, work in Albany so I'm back and forth all the time. If someone wants to do a write in there, I'd be happy to meet for the company.

And an FYI, for someone looking for a writing friend, I work 8:00-4:30 M-F so I'm available any other time. Last year I had a really horrible, fluctuating work schedule so it made things so difficult to plan.

yay! I'm so excited about NaNo this year!!

Thursdays couldn't be better!! I have classes on Monday and Tuesday at LBCC, Miri (shortening your screen name lol) I'm kind of the opposite Since I work in Albany and have a class in Corvallis. Writing friend would be fantastic I think ;p

I know I can go to the October write in, maybe think of this as a pre planning stage, and the kick off for sure. Sunday....I'm back in Eugene with family (I go home one weekends) But I can be there every Thursday as long as I'm not too tired.

I've already been doing a character spread sheet. I want to win again this year. It felt great last time.

YAY! I'm going to "friend" you if you don't mind terribly. : ) Miri is a common shortening of my name. I shall call you Koko. : )

I'm mostly just excited to actually win this year. I feel it in my bones. It's GOING to happen! Darn it! I swear it! : )

I'm curious about this character spread sheet you're thinking of! I have some "character info" templates I am going to work up for each charater but a spread sheet just sounds too fun..... : )

Just a heads up to everyone to check the calendar.

Grass Roots is letting us use their space on Nov. 1, as well as Nov. 8 and I added Tuesday night write-ins in Albany after talking with Charlie today.

Most people finish *if* they make it to the halfway point on their word count. So let's pump it up fast!

Hmm. The calendar currently says there's a write-in next Thursday. I'm guessing there's not really~

Well, yes, but whoops! Thanks, Masamage.

There is, but it's not for this year's novel. Some of us Wrimos have been meeting all year to support each other -- showing up for dedicated writing time. It's a wonderful way to keep the creative juices going. But I should call them something else.

However, you're right, you cannot start your 2009 Novel in October. You can, however, plan it: make notes about plot, character, organization, whatever. You can write a short story for the practice. Or you can just work on your homework. We don't care as long as you show up intending to write. *grin*

I really need another name for these "non-November" write-ins. Anybody got any good ideas?

I, for one, would dearly love to bring back to OSU Library write-ins. I'm not at all confident I can make the Beanery write-ins as I'm a carless student that does not at all want to bike 3 miles home in the dark at 8 at night and I have very little faith in the bus system here (though we'll see what I can do.)

That being said, I plan on writing at OSU, as I'm a student there and it just makes sense. Would anyone be able to write at the OSU Library on Fridays at, say, 3?

If you were able to meet a bit later I could attend Friday write ins at OSU. I get off work at 4:30 so anytime after 5 would be best for me. I would definetly like to though :)

Ooh. If 5 works better for you, would you be able to do that on Mondays instead? I'm just trying to squeeze things around classes. :)

Also, I friended you. No stalkage is intended, I'm just excited about possibly finally having someone to write with. :D

Yay! Monday sounds most excellent! That'll be perfect!

Adding me is great! I have added you back. I'm also excited because I think Mondays will be best and it'll be nice to have a guaranteed writin partner. Plus, I too am on my 4th year trying to win so maye we can motivate eachother!

Perfect. Mondays at 5 in the OSU Library.

I've only been there once, I'm ashamed to say as an English major. Do you have any location suggestions, or should I scope a spot out tomorrow for the write in?

I have only been in there a couple of times myself, one of which was me attempting to attend a write-in and failing to find anyone at all! It was pretty pathetic. I know that on the second floor in the "atrium"-y area(??) there are a lot of areas with tables and plus which would probably be ideal. The atrium-y thing I mean is that if you go to the second floor, taking the elevator up and head to the left, there is like a look down to the first floor hole business? haha Anyway around there, I think.

To meet the first time, I'd kinda prefer like, near the entrance with a big doofy sign that says "I'M LOOKING FOR MY WRITE-IN FRIENDS" - because I can never find anyone in there. LOL and then we can scope out some seats somewhere? Unless you find a sweet area tomorrow : )

I'm up for an OSU write in as well! I heard about them last year, but I could never make it because I had class during the meeting times. Five on Mondays works for me, though! I've been to the library quite a few times, but I have never really strayed from the beaten path, so it would be great if we would all meet somewhere close to the entrance... or if you find a good spot, that would work, too. I think you guys will be able to find me pretty easily. I'll be the girl in the blue mobility scooter. Hopefully we can all find each other.

Eep, I'm excited! November has got to be the best month of the year.

Awesome! : ) That'll be great. We're all going to have distinguishing features. I'll be the girl with the ugly pink alligator skin laptop case!

Thank you boyfriend for the standout laptop case! (he thinks I love pink more than I do.)

I'm not sure when everyone else is interested in started, but I would be up for a write-in the week before NaNo Starts, maybe as a "Hi! My name is ___" session, but also to work some kinks out of my outline, etc.

I agree. I've already been working on my characters/outline/backstory but I should definitely still have some work to do if we were to meet before November. Basically any day of the week works for me... Fridays would be ideal, but I can definitely work around anyone else's schedule.

If we plan to meet in October I'm only available up until the 29th... I have family coming for that weekend because the first is my birthday (best day ever to have a birthday).

I like the pre-November write in idea IMMENSELY. :)

So... Can we plan on having an OSU Library write-in in October on... Monday the 26th at 5 like all the November write ins, to get a feel for how the weekly schedule would go? I'm in OSU's Bella Voce choir, which has two performances that week, so most of my other afternoons and evenings are actually pretty full towards the end of October.

Summary: does the Monday before November work for the OSU faux-write-in?

Okay so I'm very much excited and wanting to go to the Write-In on the 15th, but I want to double check that the address is

500 SW 2nd St, Corvallis, OR‎

I noticed there were a lot of them in Corvallis, and I want to be sure.

Yes, at 2nd and Washington.
If you click on the event it should bring up all the details. You might have to scroll to see the address.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

And I will totally be there Thursday at the Beanery. If someone sees a random blond girl with a pink laptop case, please wave me down!

Kokotankuu -- Aww I can totally understand where your mom is coming from. I always feel awkward meeting up with people, but it's really no different than meeting up with people if you go out with friends or even at your first day at school/work in a new place! Plus it's public and if anything looks shady you can bow out, no harm, no foul.

Maybe you can talk her into it for next time, as I'm sure it's probably short notice this time around.

Oh, I'm so sorry! Your mom is more than welcome to come check us out herself, and check out the website too... but I can understand her being protective. Are you in high school? We had a local group of students at CV and an Albany high school student in the past... perhaps you can talk some friends you already know into participating!
