This is one of the more active, best established Communities.

There are a bunch more for more specific interests related to NaNoWriMo and lots of interested users for browsing purposes.

Maybe too many to sort through easily. We should probably introduce ourselves!

Age/Sex/Gender/Other Relevant Facts Along Those Lines: Mid 20's, mostly girlish.
Years Done NaNo: This is #6!
About This Year's NaNo: Brainscrew sci-fi with porn. Yay porn.
Contents of Journal: What you see is what you get. Lots of prattling on about writing, hobby horses and all the weird stuff that happens in my vicinity. It is a fairly new journal, but I try to post at least once a day. Sometimes while drunk.
Looking for NaNoMates Who...: Are interested in being bosom buddies through sickness and in health, happiness and writers' block.
Trebuchet?: Hell yes.

Wooo livejournal. I love it.

Username: augustfalcon
Location: US for the first few weeks of November, Europe after that
Age/Sex/Gender/Other Relevant Facts Along Those Lines: approximately 18, approximately male?
Years Done NaNo: participant/winner in 2006, 2007, 2008
About This Year's NaNo: wizard detective agency vs supervillian-possessed cornfields, or something like that
Contents of Journal: It's pretty random, but it does have a lot of writing talk. I've had it for several years and I don't usually vanish for more than a week or two at a time. I'll be doing a lot of traveling in the near future, so I'll be writing about that and posting photos. I spend more time in other people's journals and communities than I do in my own.
Looking for NaNoMates Who...: Aren't only on livejournal during Nano. It's fine if your journal is only about writing, but I don't want it to be so that we only talk once a year. That would be sad. :(
Trebuchet?: It could happen.

About This Year's NaNo: I'll let you know when I figure it out.
Contents of Journal: What you see is pretty much what you get. I'm trying to write more real content on my actual website, so LJ is (gasp) a life journal.
Looking for NaNoMates Who...: Aren't easily offended and (preferably) use LJ for more than just NaNo. I like writing journals, but it's hard to figure out who's around and who isn't when NaNo is over.
Trebuchet?: Bring it.

Hmm, I feel like the proverbial perverted old man. I've been a member of the LJ Nanowrimo community for several years, but nobody knows that since I post over there about once a year, and sometimes not that often. Now seeing everyone's profiles, it's kinda creepy being an old guy in a sea of teenage girls.

Years Doing NaNo: Attempt #5 this year!!
About This Year's NaNo: 2 concepts that I'm forcing together. #1 - MC continually gets taken advantage of and scammed while trying to be helpful/generous. #2 - MC discovers his society (a post-apocalyptic bubble city connected to a space station via a space elevator) is isolationist and tries to escape.
Contents of Journal: I have no contents, but this year I've started posting my 30 days of worldbuilding exercises
Looking for NaNoMates Who... care about objective reality

Age/Sex/Gender/Other Relevant Facts Along Those Lines: Age: 18, Sex: Female. Gender is also female.

Years Done NaNo: Did it for the first time last year.

About This Year's NaNo: Still fairly undecided. Genre will be humor though. It will either be set in an English university, a Scottish fishing village or a cliffside mansion in Romania.

Contents of Journal: To ensure total accuracy and consumer satisfaction, I have looked up my last five posts. They are, a post in which I translated the lyrics of 'Ballroom Blitz' into German, then French, then back into English, a post savagely decrying my art school, a post apologizing to my Livejournal in a sexually implicit way for spending more time on Twitter, a pitifully boring post detailing my first week of holidays and a mock letter written to Studylink (NZ's student loan provider) parodying their insatiable need for 'more information'.

Looking for NaNoMates Who...: Like to talk about Nano regularly, have writing races and help each other with ideas.

Trebuchet?: Gesundheit!

About This Year's NaNo: Mostly me following a character after his boyfriend gets sent to prison. I mostly have a vague idea about what's going to happen, but I guess it's just me getting to know one of my favorite soft spoken characters a little more. (:
Contents of Journal: Um, not updated that regularly, but maybe I will do so more often during Nano. It's usually me rambling or posting story snippets.
Looking for NaNoMates Who...: are friendly and kinda weird.

About This Year's NaNo: Urban fantasy set in Hong Kong.

Looking for NaNoMates Who...: Don't mind writing and art interspersed with rants about American politics.
Trebuchet?: Sure why not.

Username: theoryoferin is my actual LJ and x__hypocampus is where I keep the majority of my writing.
Location: Central Florida, for the time being.
Age/Sex/Etc.: 23 and female.
Years Doing NaNo: This is officially year 6, but unofficially year 8
About This Year's NaNo: it's the third book in a very large non-linear series about a group of friends that have come from various places around the globe and are all somehow interconnected. it's chick lit and set just outside of Central London. Pretty much, it's just a quirky little tale about two neighbors who've been in love since their teens and how they come together... and are then subsequently separated again.
Contents of Journal: on theoryoferin, I post a lot of anecdotes from work [I work in a theme park and recently left their competition] and tales of traveling [I just returned from a two-week trip to London to visit a friend and research for my NaNo]... and a lot of times there's semi-personal whining about my slacking family. But there's also writing stuff in there, especially surrounding my recently-published short story collection. In x__hypocampus, it's all writing. Sometimes I post ideas or plans, sometimes there's actual writing, sometimes it's just rambling about how behind I am on a goal. But it's always writing related.
Looking for NaNoMates Who... Post relatively often year-long. I love getting to know people by reading their LJ posts and having more to read makes me indefinitely happy. [:

About This Year's NaNo:: Historical fiction... uhh, yeah.
Contents of Journal:: Every day "life stuff." Sometimes just interesting quotes, song lyrics, poems, etc. I update fairly regularly, and am working on updating even more often.
Looking for NaNoMates Who...:: will encourage and push me throughout NaNoWriMo '09 and BEYOND!
Trebuchet?:: I have an imaginary one =)

Age/Sex/Gender/Other Relevant Facts Along Those Lines: Somewhere in my 20s, female
Years Done NaNo: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and now 2009. Won every year but 2004.
About This Year's NaNo: I'm kind of caught between two ideas right now and I'm hoping I'll sort them out before November. One is an epic political fantasy. The other is a sequel to last year's NaNo, which I had so much fun writing that I just don't want to leave that world. It's kind of a mishmash of various speculative fiction genres.
Contents of Journal: Whatever I feel like! I talk about writing a lot. I post TV show reactions and fannish kinds of things. I talk/whine about work and family (in locked posts). I DON'T do Twitter digests even though I'm on Twitter all the time (maybe a selling point? I know a lot of people don't like the Twitter posts on LJ). I update on average about three times a week, sometimes more or less depending on what's going on in my life.
Looking for NaNoMates Who...: Have some interests in common with me. If it's just writing/NaNoWriMo, that's cool, but I'd like to be able to talk about other things, too.
Trebuchet?: I have blueprints.

Age/Sex/Gender/Other Relevant Facts Along Those Lines: Early 20's female.
Years Done NaNo: First time in 2008 and I won!
About This Year's NaNo: I'm writing about events loosely based on my trip in Chicago. I will have different characters but the poor girl in my story will be freaked out by riding on the El train at 2am with a scary druggie guy. Oh she also happens to meet Duff Goldman so it's kind of a fan fiction.
Contents of Journal: During November it's mainly NaNo. I put up pictures of my plotting and what not. Through out the rest of the year is random rants and more writing.
Looking for NaNoMates Who: want friends and not just people to make them look more popular. If I can find something fun or witty to say on your blog I'll leave a comment and I hope to get the same in return.

edit: Added more info on this years NaNo

Oh man, I always try to make new LJ friends during nano! I'm shy of adding people, but love it when people add me. My journal is friends only for posts more than a month old but I'll almost inevitably add you back if you introduce yourself! :) Please don't be scared off by the fact I don't have a lot of posts up, I blog way more during nano and... yeah!

About This Year's NaNo: Little boys.
Contents of Journal: HAHA okay it's half me being a ninny about nothing and half me being way too vague, peppered with a fair amount of fandom idiocy. I solemnly swear I will never take myself seriously. I will never say anything like "G-GUYS I JUST TRIED TO KILL MYSELF GOD NO ONE UNDERSTANDS," and I will be stupid 100% of the time. Age/Sex/Gender/Other Relevant Facts Along Those Lines: Just turned 20, female.
Years Done NaNo: 2006 & 2007. I took 2008 off and I'm trying it again this year!

About This Year's NaNo: I've got two ideas going on. One of them is kind of chick lit (I know, I know...) and the other is more fantasy. One of them involves a young woman being sucked into the world of romance novel publishing and the other involves a village ravaged by a disease and a wizard out to find the cure.

Contents of Journal: Lots of stuff! I talk about my personal life quite often and I spend a LOT of time talking and posting about The Daily Show & The Colbert Report. :) I also talk a lot about politics, because I watch those shows so much. So, yeah - fangirling, chatting, bitching, stuff about writing - a whole lot of stuff. =)

Looking for NaNoMates Who...: Have common interests as me and are looking to meet fellow writers on LiveJournal!

Trebuchet?: I'm ashamed but I'm unsure as to how to answer this...lol.

Looking for NaNoMates Who...: live in Portland is a plus. Would like to talk on AIM, maybe, about Nano/writing, or whatever. Look at my journal, add me if you like, go from there.

Username: mysticpenguin If you're on Dreamwidth, that's awesome too; I'm pretty much the same thing under the same name over there.
Location: Southwest Ohio.
Age/Sex/Gender/Other Relevant Facts Along Those Lines: Chick, just turned thirty.
Years Done NaNo: Oh geez. I've been signing up for NaNo since 2002, but I think this is the third one I've actually done.
About This Year's NaNo: Modern fantasy, in which a psychic from the little hippie village of Yellow Springs gets caught up in a whodunit involving the embodiments of character tropes/archetypes.
Contents of Journal: Pretty much my day-to-day stuff. I write a lot about my writing at LJ, but actual prose I post on Dreamwidth and link, since I don't really trust Sup with writing I care about.
Looking for NaNoMates Who...: Like to talk about writing, and don't take NaNo too seriously. And aren't bothered by late comments, because I am terrible about keeping up with commenting to my friends list.
Trebuchet?: ...beg pardon?
