I'll be running a couple of Intro to NaNoWriMo sessions in the last week of October, aimed particularly at first-timers, although everyone is welcome to come along.

* Belfast: Monday October 26th, 7pm in Studio 1 of the Crescent Arts Centre (http://www.crescentarts.org)

* Derry: Tuesday October 27th, 6:30pm in Derry Central Library

The sessions should last about an hour; I'll do a bit of a 'story of NaNoWriMo' to explain the background and what it's all about, and then we can generally talk about getting organised for November.

If anyone's got suggestions for things they would like or have liked to have known about as a first-time WriMo, please comment!

You may have noticed that I've added two online "Intro to NaNoWriMo" sessions, for Sunday 25th and Weds 28th, to go with the face-to-face ones in Belfast and Derry.

Basically, I'll be hanging out in the WriMo Ireland chat room for a couple of hours, to chat about NaNoWriMo and to answer any questions anyone has.

I'd love you all to come and hang out with me! No question is too weird or stupid (I hope), and even if you've done NaNo before, we can chat about strategies and so on.

Just to add, feel free to bring non-NaNoing friends and relatives along to the Intro meetings. (Maybe we can convert them.)

Whoo, seven lovely people (apart from myself) visited the chat room this evening to talk about getting ready for NaNoWriMo.

It was a shame that the Mibbit client died after about an hour... I've now added an emergency chat link to the chat room web page though, in case it ever goes belly-up again. (And I am moderating my language there, because it was extremely annoying.) Of course, the chat room is also accessible via IRC on irc.ircstorm.net:6667, channel #WriMoIreland.

Anyway, I'm hoping that tomorrow's and Tuesday's sessions go as well (I have all my print-outs done now), and I'll be back in the chat room to answer more questions on Wednesday evening.
