This is my third Nano, but my first in Kentucky. I moved here early this year.

Hopefully, I'll stay away from the horses to avoid concussions, and bad computers to steer clear of corrupted files, and I'll have a nice, easy, stress free Nano this year. XD

Edit: Oh, I have to make a new signature, I see I still have last years banner.

i am Kdthree aka Kay . I have done NaNO since 2003 and though i couldn't get the thing to accept the only year i failed (boo hoo) was 2007. Good because that novel really sucked anyway. LOL.

I was mostly missing in action last year due to my work schedule. I work Friday through Monday so weekends are usually out for meetings. Going to do much better this year if there are any during the week.

This year my "novel" is going to be completely different usually i write some kind of sci fi, horror, fantasy, adult fiction but this year it is going to be a semi fictionalized autobiography. It is going to be better than therapy.

So i hope to see all of you some time i miss the write ins and the vast amounts of coffee consumed at same.

Kriss/ Kdthree/ Kay

Hi, I'm Mary. I'm a native Lexingtonian and this is my third year doing NaNo and I've been lucky enough to succeed the previous two years. :D

This year's project is volume 3 in my ongoing fantasy series.

If I stay true to form, you probably won't see me at any of the write-ins (combination of no laptop and being easily distracted in the extreme and having a full-time job with about an hour-long commute one-way), but I do try to keep an eye on the local forum.

Good luck to everyone! :D

Hi. My name is Jessica, and this is my second Nano.

I finished my first 50K novel last year, The Red Bird Sings, a steam punk/fairy fantasy, and am in for the whole show again this year. I'm a single mom of three kids, so my evenings are almost non-existent, but I'm available during school hours for write ins.

So far, my idea for this year's novel is... umm. Added to that, I'm going on a week-long trip with about 100 ten year old kids to a place with no cell phone service, no internet, and one pay phone, so we'll see how that goes.

Welcome, and hope to see you all at write ins!

I tried to do NaNo several years ago, but life got in the way. I'm back full circle calling myself a writer again after several years of getting disoriented with public speaking and teaching writing among other things. This November's 50,000 words will complete the "shitty first draft" (a la Anne Lamott) of a mainstream novel about inter-generational relationships.

I've published two nonfiction books this year which have sold more than I ever thought possible!! I'm excited about write-ins and support to keep my momentum going.

Incidentally (and as a proud mom), my son has completed NaNo several times, and I hope is also going to join me in this challenge. He created a similar challenge for songwriters called F.A.W.M -- February is Album Writing Month (www.fawm.org).

Hey there everyone... My name is Ray, I am 39 and work in the IT field. I have participated the last two years. In 2007 I did not hear of it until mid-November. Last year work derailed me. Hopefully it is all going to work out just fine this year.

By the way, I am over in the Danville area, but I will be in and around Lexington several times. I would also like to see if folks want to met at the coffee shop on Main here in Danville a couple of times.

Hiya everyone. My name is Tori. I'm 28 and a stay-at-home mom. This is my second year of Nano, and I hope to be more prepared for it this year. Last year took me by storm. I'm not sure what I'm going to write this year, but I have a couple of ideas. I want to break away from fantasy, which seems to be my comfort zone, but I'll just have to see where it goes.

I'd like to come to some of the write-ins and events this year, but an incapacitating shyness always conquers me. Not only do I have a 2 year old, but I also take care of my grandmother. Evenings would be better, but I'll see what I can do.

I wish everyone good luck, and hopefully I'll meet some of you as the month passes.

I'm back. Angela, otherwise stet, 44, housewife and mother of two. I've completed NaNo in 02, 04, 05, 06, and 08 (did not participate in 03 and bombed in 07). Not at all sure what I'm writing this year. So far I've done urban fantasy, high fantasy, adventure, and children's urban fantasy. I have a cool idea for more kid lit, but I'm not sure if I can get my daughter to release the copyright....

Hello all! I'm Nathan. I've done Nano the past two years and have yet to win, but I'm feeling extremely good about this year. I recently moved to Richmond and work in Lexington, so I might actually be able to make it to a write-in this year, assuming I don't have to work when they're scheduled. Retail in unforgiving in that way. My fiance and I are both participating this year, so there's some added motivation for me.

Oh, and I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to write this year, except that I've agreed to use a random plot generator for the beginning and occasionally throughout, so...super fun!

Hope to see you guys out there! If any of you are buying new computers for the month, I work at the Best Buy in Hamburg. You should say hi and introduce yourself as a fellow Nanoer. I can't help with the price in any way, but it would be a cool way to meet people.

Nathan

^^ *points to the above*

I'm Virginia, the aforementioned fiance. I'm also going to be FINISHING my Nano this year - though my track record does not support it, I will finish come heck or high water. I promise myself.

In addition to Nano, this year I am taking 17.5 credit hours, working a part time job, and planning a wedding. Talk about stress. Fortunately for me, I know that Nathan will drag me to several write-ins, and we've got a group of four or five wrimos in Richmond this year, and should be able to have our own mini-write-ins as well! I know our group is super excited about this year (we are every year) and thanks to Nathan, I actually have a portable laptop (perfect for writing in class, let me tell you. I've been practing for November already - it just looks to everyone else like I'm taking notes, and now that they're used to it, no one will question it).

So, hi. Nice to meet you all. Again. I'm fairly sure I remember talking to a few of you during the first half of Nano last year (hey, I made it to 20K, that's a significant improvement over the year before!) and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the kick-off party!

Hi,

I'm Nate, and this is my first foray into NaNo. I've known about this for years, but I've never opted in until now. So, I'll see how I'll do.

I have no idea what I'm going to write, but that will come to me eventually.

I'd love to see what some of these write-ins or events are, but I'm an introvert and pretty shy - so that makes it a bit more challenging. I am trying to get over that, though. We'll see, I guess, in time.

Hi, my name is Sharon and this is my first official nano.

I did try to do an August nano unofficially and did hit the 50,000+ word count.

I am writing a sci fi novel this time. Working hard on the outline. Looking forward to the start of the nano, getting itchy typing fingers.

Hope to beat my word count and write everyday this time.

Met some of you at the Plan-no, hope to make it to some of the other events.

Hey I'm Hawk, written nano since 00 but have have only written 50K 4 of those years. I've never really done much on the boards, but I think it's time to step out and meet other writters in the area. I've been in Lexington for a year now, down from Louisville.

I have no clue what I'm writting on this year, but I know it's going to be fun. Look forward to meeting people and hopefully dragging my BF along.

Hey, new friends! My name is Stefanie and this is my first attempt at NaNo... I'm 25 and have always known I'm a writer, though now currently in the corporate world. I found NaNo on twitter yesterday when randomly clicking through links and immediately knew I had to sign up. It must be more than a fortuitous coincedence that (a) I've been thinking about writing a novel a lot recently but always come up with an excuse why I don't have the time, and (b) I discovered NaNo only a few days before it starts! I'm a classic project starter and awful at following through, so I'm hoping this gives me the motivation + willpower + inspiration necessary to get some words down on paper. I also convinced my daddy to join with me, so hopefully we will both meet you all soon at a write-in!

Hi! I'm Kara and this is my first Nano. I just started writing a year ago. I'm hoping this challenge will get me to write with much more detail :) I'm planning on writing a novel following the love lives of three coworkers... That's about all I have. I look forward to November!!!

Hi. John Pearson here, a.k.a wiredlive.

I finally found this board for introducing myself.

I sorta did the NaNo 2 years ago. This year I am planning to give it a more serious run for the money.

I am on the tail end of a 2 year software development cycle at work and I have been disappointed to miss some of the write ins, etc. I keep telling myself there is a weekend at the end of the tunnel. Seems like somebody keeps making the tunnel longer though.

I don't write a specific genre, though I do write fiction. I have a sci fi/fantasy bent to me, but also some middle of the road fiction. You can get a taste of my stuff at www.b4eternity.com.

I have decided to write a story titled "The Librarians Secret." Still trying figure out what it will be about.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can.

Bianca Spriggs here! Local poet who's done National Poetry Writing Month for two years and thought she'd take a stab at a novel. I'm looking forward to connecting with you all, but more importantly, cranking out 50,000 words next month. See you real soon!

Hi, I am Ramya and new to nanowrimo. I am 30 years old, mother of a one-year-old and still getting used to being called a momma! I self-published a collection of short stories on Amazon and now want to write...I mean dream about writing a novel. I am a software engineer who types away at her computer while daydreaming about being called a writer...someday!

Wish me luck!

Hi,

I tried Nano last year and was very excited with the results although I did NOT get 50,000 words. Then my hard drive went out and I lost the 30,000 words I had. Soooo, I think I'd like to try again this year. I'm fairly certain I cannot do 50,000 words, but if I can do another 30,000 that will be a whole lot more than I've done in the last several months :0). I just finished a cyber course with Institute of Children's Learning and am on fire about writing. I did several nonfiction articles for the class and now I want to stretch into fiction. Ages 8-12 fantasy type fiction keeps poking me so I'm guessing that's the direction I'll go...looking forward to meeting some of you at the events!

Hey! I'm probably one of the youngest writers in nano; I'm 13. But to me, I honestly believe that age doesn't tell whether you are a good writer. I'm so freakin tired of people brushing me off in writing because of my age. And maybe I do write crap, but to me, that crap is my life.

And now that I've hit you with that, I just want to say hello. You won't ever meet me because I can't go to any of the meetings or write ins or whatever you guys call them. Busy schedule people, and I have somewhat of a life outside of writing. But believe me, I do want to go to one. I just can't.

So I wish everyone the best of luck in completeing this. Lexingtoners, lets all complete it! I think we all can. I can't wait to get started, and show the world what I can do!

Hey, Laura here. I've done NaNo twice before in 07 and 08, but have never finished a novel (broken computer and broken leg in 07, overwhelming schedule in 08). This year I'm super pumped for NaNo--I've mostly figured out a plot for my urban fantasy/young adult coming-of-age/love story, and I might actually be able to come to some write-ins, depending on how my job search goes! I'll be unemployed at the end of this month, and am currently putting in applications at various places in need of receptionists/clerical/administrative staff. (No bites on the lines I'm casting yet, but I have to keep believing I'll get a decent job, otherwise I'll be moving in with my parents and leaving my sister high and dry in our apartment.)
I'll plan to come to the kick-off party at Renee's house, even though I'll be a little late, so I hope to see as many of you as possible this Thursday!

Hi. I'm Kristi (savvy sick chick). I have never tried this before and I was so surprised to see how many local writers are involved. I've been struggling to finish my first book and I think this is the pressure/craziness that will help me pull though and cough up the copy. I'm a full-time working mother with two boys. I'm the one sitting at basketball practice, academic team practice and especially baseball practice with my NEO (greatest invention ever)!
