First post! We need an introduction thread! Who are you and what are you planning to write?

----

I am Slauderdale, and I plan to write a novel in the month of November.

You will say "Duh," but until today I wasn't planning to write a novel. I was planning to be a Nano Rebel and use this month to write a 50K bibliography or something. Non-fiction, that's for sure. But here it is, October 2, and this site reload has me really excited. I'm thinking I'll be predictable and write something to do with libraries. Maybe a children's or fantasy novel.

It's a whole month, so time enough to change my mind. Maybe I'll decide to be a Nano Rebel after all. 50K of something, though. For sure.

I'm Kate. New to this whole NanoWriMo thing but so excited to do it.

I'm 26, a mom, a student, wife and trying to find another part time job. Hoping this will get me writing fiction again as I do love it. Not exactly sure what my Novel will be about but I know that through the 30 days that it will develop into something I never expected.

Hey, folks. Glad to meet you.

This is my first NaNoWriMo and the first long-form writing I've ever done. I actually just found out about this event a week ago (from the Hamilton-Wenham Public Library site, as a matter of fact), and now I'm busily trying to rework my November schedule. I'm not sure what I'm writing yet, but I'm hoping to have a rough outline done by 11/1.

Hi, I'm Anna, and I'm not technically on the northshore this November. I'm from there, but I'm going to college in western Mass. At least a week of my NaNo will be written from my real home, though, when I'm back for Thanksgiving break. So hi everyone! I'm looking forward to NaNo-ing together-ish.

Hi! My name is Crystal, and this year will be my fourth NaNo! Every year I manage to hit 50,000 words but the actual plot of my story flounders away into nothingness. Last year I came the closest to actually finishing for real, and so I have high hopes for this year!

I'm 23 years old, I work in a clothing warehouse ("distribution center"), and I like to write about unrequited love and angst. This year it's more of the same, just different characters and setting. I usually lurk on the sidelines, but this year I hope to become more involved and go to write ins and chat with all of you lovely fellow MA novelists! =)

I'm Peter and I have tried to do Nanowrimo twice before and did not succeed either time. This year I am not in a foreign country, nor do I have a large senior seminar paper to write, so I am hopeful I will be able to finish.

Also I hope to be able to attend a write-in or two. I plan on writing a murder mystery. I almost always try to write fantasy, so I may work some of that into the mystery.

Hey guys....

I'm Dave, 28 (29 in November), and in Winthrop. This is my first year doing Nano, and I'm very excited about it! I'm also in school right now, so it's going to be tough balancing everything, but I figure if I start managing my Family Guy intake to only a few episodes a week, I can find the time necessary to take care of everything I want to take care of.

Looking forward to meeting some of you!

Ok, I'm gonna make a confession here: I have participated in Nanowrimo several different times since 2004 (under a different handle) but I have never reached 50K. The closest I came was 30K, and that time I was cheating. But it was a lot of fun when I did it, and I always ended up USING the writing I generated, so I have always found Nanowrimo very rewarding and I know that will be true this November as well.

Hello out there. I joined in September, and I can't wait to pull 30 all-nighters this November.
I finished my first book, and soon I will be working on my second.
My learning curve will go from eight years to thirty days.
Good luck to you all!

Greetings! This is my 4th year doing NaNoWriMo. Two years ago I was ML. Last year I didn't make one event or upload any of my novel due to life throwing oh so many curveballs (seriously - wound up having to pull one of my kids out of school b/c the principal refused to let her go to lunch one day - how's that for material? anyone that wants to use it go ahead. Real life is always stranger than fiction.) That's the nice thing about being a writer. Writing is therapy. And I can put evil people into my book and eliminate them. :) Hmmm - was that TMI on an intro?

I am already working on organizing crock pot recipes and stocking up on hot dogs and cereal so the husband and kids can eat during November.

Looking forward to noveling with all of you, Beth

My name is Matthew and I just turned 25 and this will be my first year here. I will be satisfied just getting some sort of workable piece out of it but I'd definitely like to finish as well.

I'm currently unemployed but just finished my Master's degree in English at a local college. Hopefully I will have a job soon, even though that will seriously cut into my novel-writing time.

I don't have any ideas for what I'll be writing about yet; in fact, I'd like to keep my mind mostly blank between now and November 1st. But I am sure I will start brainstorming soon.

Hi! I'm Kristin. This is my first time doing NaNoWriMo and I am REALLY excited for it.

I'm 25, currently unemployed (which will hopefully be changing soon ...), freelancing graphic designer. My novel has already been keeping me up at night, I have so many ideas going through my head my brain won't calm down!

My home is in Medford, and I am looking forward to write-ups/ins to help keep me going. It will be an interesting 30 days for sure!

Hi, my name is Lizy, and I think I have a serious problem. I've been doing this since 2003, which it's late and I can't do math, but it translates into I've done this way too many times. I'll be 22 for November (birthday's the end of October) and unemployed and I'm too poor to attend classes this semester. Therefore I see there's no excuse for me to fail this year. If I've done it going to school nearly full time and working full time I should be able to get it done by the 15th. However, I am job hunting, and if anyone knows someone looking for help, I've got a ton of retail experience and I'm hoping to find basic office experience.

As long as I remain unemployed I'll be much freer then normal to attend write-ins and will be willing to assist the ML in setting some up.

Oh, and my novel, I guess that's important. Even though they highly discourage it, I'm working with the same group of characters I worked with the last time I won in 2007. This is the sequel to that story and I'm introducing a whole bunch of new characters. It's fantasy/sci-fi set in a multi-universe where all of our faerie tales and folklore creatures are real, they just like coming to mess with us because we're too stupid to realize it. I'm really playing with the idea of good vs. evil and that in the real world, even if it is fantasy, life and politics aren't even close to being that cut and dry. There's a lot to it, and it's difficult to explain without going into detail about the first book, but that's the gist of it.

Come find me if anyone needs advice or moral support, I'm a great cheerleader. :-D

WOW looks like there are a lot of first timers here! How exciting!

My name's Jessica, I'm 23... and this will be my 7th year attempting a 50k novel in the month of November. I feel so old in the NaNo world!

I'm a comic artist and I'm working on putting together a new story to self publish... so I actually have no idea what I'm going to write for NaNo. I've been spending all my time thinking of a plot for this comic, haha.

But, I'm sure I'll be able to come up with something!

Morning All!

Rich here, and from what I'm seeing I think at this point I'm the official 'old guy'! I'm 43 marching toward 44 at a rapid pace in December. This will be my third year giving this a shot. I work as an EMT and have a second career at being grumpy. ;)

Looking forward to this year and seeing if I can pound out 50K.

Good luck to you all!!

Uhhhh...you're not checking IDs, are you? I'm not going to say I'm old or anything, but I can remember a world without the Beatles.

I lost track of how many NaNo's I've done--3? 4? Working on another erotic novel, but as a rebel--I've already completed a few scenes. Looking for a write-in in the greater Newburyport or Seabrook NH area.

I've made half-hearted attempts to do this before. But I've signed up on the website and I am looking forward to getting involved with the community. I will try and attend a write in and any other local events offered.

I have never written anything other than work related stuff but I feel that there may be a story or two in my head.

Hey there,

Thought I should introduce myself. This is my first nanowrimo, and Im gonna dive right in and win it (yeah!)!

I've written mostly analysis and journaling, but never fiction, so this is doubly going to be an interesting challenge. Good luck to everyone.

I hope to see you, too.

Any plans for write-ins in the area? I could arrange one at the library in Newburyport if anyone is interested. I'm available most evenings except for Wednesdays.

I'm not in the Newburyport area, but we do have one write-in event scheduled at the Hamilton-Wenham Library (loc. South Hamilton) for November 13 (Friday the 13th!!). We will have a room specifically set aside for novelists, and I'm planning to have snacks. Possibly more write-in events depending on interest level, but of course writers are welcome to come by any time that we are open.

My name is Doug, and I'm a 31-year old dad, husband and chicken wrangler from Beverly.

I've had a few friends that have been doing NaNoWriMo for the last couple of years, but I've never tried it myself. It's been many years since I've written more than a short story, but I decided it was time to get my writing fingers out and give it a go.

My 50k words will likely shape up into a dark or supernatural fantasy, although I haven't quite decided yet. I hope to nail down some ideas between now and November 1st.

On a side note, I was pretty thrilled to see the Hamilton-Wenham library's NaNoWriMo page -- that's flat out awesome, and it's a great great library to begin with. I highly recommend heading to the Friday the 13th write-in there!

Good luck, ya'll.

Hi, my name is Caitlin and I'm 23 (24 in November). My years participated thing says this will be my sixth time (I tend to believe it...mostly) but contrary to what it states, I've actually won 3 times, not two. I can't figure out how to fix that so if anyone has pointers, let me know.

I'm from Georgetown and I'm planning to, for the first time, dive into science fiction. And how am I going to do that? Well the answer sounds ridiculous and 'snerk' worthy unless I explain...so I'm going to sound ridiculous and probably get some eye rolls. Space vampires...and I *promise,* cross my heart, it's not as bad as it sounds. Well, assuming that I come up with a plot to go along with the back story I've worked up, it's not.

Guess I'll introduce myself.

My name is Josh, and I'm 24 years old. While I've been signed up for nanowrimo for the past couple years, this will really be my first year participating. I hope to make some write-ins, time permitting.

I also work at the Hamilton-Wenham Library. Earning some cash while I take a break from school.

Not completely sure what I'm going to write yet, but it most likely will be something either fantasy or science fiction.

Hello, friends!

This is my third attempt at NaNoWriMo - first two were attempted novels and I never got beyond about 15,000 words, so this year I've decided to be a NaNoWriMo Rebel and write a memoir.

I live in Beverly and plan to host at least one write-in at Starbucks in Ryal Side. =)

Cheers,

Louise
