Alas, I am not. I'm taking an online course this year, and still working on last year's project. I may try to make a couple write-ins tho, to absorb positivie energy and cheer ya'll on!

I'm in, and plan to write my best novel yet. Can't wait to get started.
For the first time ever I'm considering facing up to the flying monkeys and just going ahead and starting my great-idea-of-a-novel now, though I'd still write 50K in November.
And yes, I think it is a wonderful idea for NaNo-ers who cannot participate this year to bring their school work to write-ins - what difference? We'd all benefit from each other's karma. Right Brian?
I'm in this year! (As usual) I have a great plot and could easily write 50k....as long as school doesn't bog me down this year. I'm taking college level classes in high school and it's kicking my butt. But I will persevere; I look forward to NaNo every year and prepare for it starting in July. No way am I sitting out!

I'm in! That break last year didn't do me a lick of good, and I'm STILL kicking myself for my Nov' '07 bailout. Third time's the charm though, and this year is it, folks...I just started working back through the pre-planning phases of Holly Lisle's How to Think Sideways course with a new NaNo project in mind, and I'm super psyched. I hope to be able to make it down to a few write ins this year (some of ya'll may remember that I'm technically from Fayetteville, just across the state line). I hope everyone's planning goes well! Good luck!!!!
Last year was my first year, and I made it to 50k, so I have to make it again!
However, last year I did not know about signing up for a region, so hello. I'm excited!
Michael,
So glad to have you with us. If you have any questions about our local activities before we get the calendar posted, be sure to email me. With hubbie Bryan Jones, I'm honored to be co-ML of the region.
Sorry I haven't been posting more, y'all, but it's been a busy month and the time or two I tried to get on the site, it was too busy to open! I guess that's good news?
Looking forward to November!

Hi everyone.
I'm in for the first time this year!!! I have no idea what I am going to write other than the fact that it will probably lean toward fantasy. Can't wait for November!

It's my first year too, a friend of mine just introduced me to the site this morning and I LOVE the idea. I'm really excited to attempt to write 50,000 words... lord knows I've never finished a single story. : )
I'm glad to join the region (Not sure exactly if I got that right or not..) Support to northern Alabama!
I'm in too!
Tried last year but, alas, I was too new and too distracted.
I'm excited to see so many writers near and around Huntsville. Every time I go to a spot with free WIFI I see at least one person focused intently on their writing. It's great just to be in the same location and share the energy.
Thanks for getting us started!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can do it this year. Between being in a major crunch at work, daughter's cheerleading and oldest son's basketball, it's going to be a major stretch!
Hey you guys! I had to create a whole new profile, some of you know me as baby blue or butterfly, so I am back this year and am so glad to be in town for the majority of November. I am looking forward to seeing you guys again and getting this thing out of my head that has been brewing for a while now. YA mystery type thing, very loose but there, like an itch between the shoulder blades...
Wishing you all the best in 2009!!!
We are all winners just for the beginning of it...

Hey guys! ^w^
Yeah, I'm writing this year, and I'm positively stoked for it! This will be my first year writing, and I'm gonna rewrite a story that I was working on (that's legal, right?)

Good luck guys,

I've written lots before but never dared try a NaNoWriMo...this year I'm diving in and am going to do it! I am working on my outline right now (something I've never done with any other writing project I've undertaken) to keep me working through the month. I'm super excited and can't wait to start, officially!

Also a newbie here. I found out about this site from a fellow participent in a fanfiction contest over on LiveJournal. I'm really excited I have never completed a whole book before. It is sort of a scary concept to consider. I'm trying to convince a friend to do this with me so I won't have to do it alone.
I have read some posts about in person meetings/ write ins, where/ when are those? I would love to meet some of you guys.
By the looks of things, I should be able to join in on some of the regional activities this year as well, so I look forward to meeting some of you in the near future. :)
