Hey everyone! I'm Laura. This year, I am hoping to finally meet some fellow WriMo's! :) This here is a thread to introduce yourselves. I want to know some about my local WriMo's.

I'm new to the area of San Marcos, and here that San Martian WriMo's often meet at the Coffee Pot...? Hopefully we can get some group meetings set up soon. November is almost upon us.

I'm a freshman at TSU, and it's my third year to do NaNo. I'm super excited, but also quite nervous about running out of time to write (or falling behind in my homework...). I'm hoping all will go well, and dreaming of a third win. :)

I'm not quite sure what I'm going to be writing this season. I'm trying to decide if I can possibly go through with doing a novel I've been trying to write for years and years. Even after years of brainstorming and writing random broken scenes, the plot is still being constantly changed. (Two weeks ago I began to consider completely changing the cast list.) If I can work out the plot for my novel within the next month, I hope to write this nameless novel. (Hopefully I'll have names by then too.... For about six years, since I first started thinking this story up, I've been using initials and "working names.")

So...how about you? Name? NaNo years and wins? Novel info? I want to know about everyone else.

Good luck, everyone! San Marcos is going to rock Texas this year!!

Hey!
My name's Deanna and I go to TSU too! I'm a freshman this year as well and this will be my second year doing Wrimo Xp

I'd love to get together at the Coffee Pot so we should try to get something together. Last year I did it where I used to live and it was really hard to meet with the people around there and I really want to try and have that community kind of support this year.

My novel idea actually came to me when my sister and I were swimming at the beach and I've been trying to flesh out the backstory and characters ever since Xp I've been revving to write it, but I"ve had to hold myself back and so have been occupying myself with fanfiction ^-^

We should try and put stuff together ^-^

Nice to meet you.

Fellow San Martians! I'm so excited!

Well, I'm not a Tx State student anymore (Master's degree, 08.08.08, thank you very much!) but I'm on campus every day. I accompany voice lessons (when students have private voice lessons, I play the piano for them). Adding both of you, if that's ok.

We should definitely get together at the Coffee Pot or at Mochas and Javas or somewhere. Count me in!

This is my second year to do NaNo, but I failed miserably last year so maybe I should just say this is my first!

Firegen: Dude, it is SOOO easy to distract yourself in fanfic! ;p I'm trying to write my first fic ever, and it has been an extremely challenging journey so far. lol But aside from that, I constantly lose myself in reading on ff.net for hours and hours. lol I'll have to cut back a bit once November hits.

Also, I'm glad to meet another freshman wrimo!! :) At least I won't be the only one in this region battling their first semester of college along with NaNo next month.

MusicalMe: I just have to say you have an awesome awesome job! lol I'm majoring in early education, but minoring (I think) in music, and the piano is my favorite instrument. I've gotten to accompany a few people and groups in highschool, and I had a blast. :) So much fun!

-

All of us need to totally set up some meetings for NaNo. What days would typically be best for y'all? Are Saturdays best because of a lack of classes/jobs to go to? I may go home every few Saturdays, but I would stick around as much as I could. ;)

Christian Writer: Haha I'm going to have to put a ban on reading all November or I won't get ANYTHING done Xp
Yay! Freshmen! I'm actually thinking that this year may be easier than last because last year I had to deal with class all day plus play rehearsals but now I just have class for an hour or two every day and then I'll have the rest of the time to write! ^-^

MusicalMe: Nyah, I've always wanted to play the piano but the most I can do is Chopsticks Xp

I think either Sat or Wed/Thurs in the afternoon. I guess it all depends on when we're free and I'm free all week in the afternoon and then the weekends.

I can't wait to start writing! And we still have another month!!

Christian Writer: Awesome, have you started any classes for the music minor yet or is that just a plan for eventually?

Firegem: The funny thing about Chopsticks is that I never learned to play it until I was a senior in high school. Somehow in the process of learning the piano, it was never included in the repertoire... I can play it now though.

My schedule is pretty open, but patchy. My Mondays and Tuesdays are almost completely empty during the day, Wednesdays and Thursday a bit more involved, Fridays pretty open, and Saturdays I have absolutely nothing to do. I have rehearsals at my church (I'm the music director) on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, but all other evenings are free.

My best friend and her sister are going to do NaNo this year as well, and they both live here, so that's another two.

I'm excited! Who else is excited?!

Firegem: lol I'm trying so hard every night to avoid fanfic, but it's sooo hard! I failed tonight and read at least 50k or 100k worth of fics. Alas, the homework now needs to be done. I'm taking 17 hours of classes this semester, and being as it's my first college semester ever, I can get a little stressed out every now and then. lol But I think I'm going to be okay. *hopeful!*

MusicalMe: So far I'm just taking choir, (but loving it!) Next semester I think I'm going to be able to take actually music minor classes. It's exciting. ;) And congrats on getting a good friend to join you in NaNo! I've tried and tried to recruit people for NaNo, and it never works. I guess I'll just have to keep trying.

Okay, so schedule-wise, I'm an organizer and I'm working on finding a good date. Saturdays would be awesome and easy for all of us I think, but I know I'll be going home at least once or twice in November, and I'll hate to miss a meeting. So I guess I'm wondering about doing something during the week...? Um, personally speaking, Wednesday night would be my best night if we want to do an evening thing, but I guess we could do Mondays or Fridays too (maybe)... If we want to do afternoons, I'm good every day after 2pm, and early on Tuesday and Friday. Do you guys have a preference, evenings vs afternoons?

And to answer the question------I'm SO excited!! I keep wanting to post signs and banners for NaNo all over my dorm. lol xp Maybe I will too...

P.S. I'm so excited about NaNo that I'm wondering, would you guys like to meet up once or twice before November? We won't have novels to work on yet, but we could brainstorm maybe, or we could just hang out. Let me know. :)

Also, i totally just realized MusicalMe said she can't do Wednesday evenings. lol *headdesk* So would you guys prefer Saturdays or weekday afternoons? I think I'd kind of prefer weekdays, just because I wouldn't have to miss them by going home. ;p But I suppose Saturdays really are my most empty days of the week, and if you guys want to meet then, I can definitely work with that. :)

Christian: Haha I usually cave and end up reading ff instead of homework Xp I'm trying to get it all out of my system now so that I won't be tempted during Nano *glares at her laptop*
Nyah I only have 14 hours and they're not that demanding except for acting *sweat drops*

MusicalMe: Nyah I wish I could learn how to play the piano ^-^

Okay, well I think I'd have the same problem of going home on weekends or parents visiting so I'd say I'm free any day of the week. My Mon, Wed, Fri classes end at 11 or noon and my Tues, Thurs class either ends at 2 or 3. And we can always meet during the week whenever you go home for a Sat instead. Kind of like, we would have meetings on Sat and whenever one of us goes home for the weekend we just meet during the week instead.

I would LOVE to get together!! I've been trying to do research on my story and I'm having a bit of trouble fleshing it out so I'd love to have help brainstorming ^-^ It can kind of be like our own kickoff party ^-^

I'd love to meet up before November, most definitely!!

Christian Writer: Which choir are you in?

Anyway, the best day for me would probably be Mondays, because the only thing I have all day is working in the music building from 11 to 12. So that's my most free day. Tuesdays and Wednesdays don't work, but I could do Thursdays after 3.

Just keep me posted.

Okay, here is my proposal... We meet THIS Thursday at 3:30 at the Coffee Pot. Are y'all game? Then, when we're there, we can finalize a regular time to meet up in November and before. Sound good?

The time seems good for all of us. So, I hope this will work. It's a bit short notice, but I think we can all make room in our schedules, right? Hopefully! lol

I have a meeting at 2pm on Thursday, but I'll be done way before 3:30. And both of you said you're done by 3pm. If you'd rather we come a little earlier, like if you'd rather not have to sit around on campus after class/work, we could do 3:15...?

Firegem: You're taking acting!? That's so cool! My best friend has done theater all throughout highschool and some middle school, and I just love going to her plays. :D (And this past Saturday night, I was up 'till about 3am reading on ff...*fail* I had to get up a 8am for church too. lol Ugh, it was sooo hard.)

MusicalMe: I'm in Women's Choir, and loving it (and loving Dr. Brinkmeyer). I think i would really enjoy taking some private voice lessons one year too, but I'm a little nervous because I tend to blush furiously and my notes start jumping around when I solo (even for a one-person audience). ;p But maybe I'll just have to conquor that fear...

I'll check back in daily (at least) until Thursday and we can finalize things then, if we need. : )

Oh, I'll im you guys my phone number too, just in case. ;) And in order to recognize me at the Coffee Pot, I shall be the girl wearing a white jacket with music notes and paraphernalia all over it. Trust me, you can't miss it! ;)

Laura - my best friend is in Women's choir, as well as a few other good friends! My best friend is the alto section leader, and recent soloist, Savannah. She's signed up for NaNo too!

I'm good for Thursday - looking forward to it!

That sounds good ^-^ I have an exam on Thurs, but I'll probably be done halfway through class. I can't wait to get some italian soda X3 I'll be wearing a bright yellow shirt ^-^

Christian Writer: Nyah I spent all of yesterday reading the entire fandom of Dillon/Ziggy X3 I feel like my brain's about to explode from ff overload.
I she still acting? I've been in theatre since sophomore year and I can't imagine not doing it ^-^

Hi everyone!! My name is Jasmin... I've lived in San Marcos all my life, this is my 3rd year for nano... It would be really great if we could set up a meeting somewhere. Ive gone to a couple of the austin ones in the past, but nothing for San Marcos people only.

Hi Jasmin! Welcome. :)
I'm Laura, and I'm kind of organizing the first get-together here. Our first meeting is this Thursday at 3:30pm at the Coffee Pot. I'll be wearing a music-note jacket, and MusicalMe will be in a red NaNo shirt, so we should be easy to find. :)

Firegem: lol I can relate to your ff overload...ugh. I'm trying not to read this week, but it's so hard!! Plus, I just started writing my very own first fic ever, and though I haven't done much with it yet, it is on my mind a lot. lol My friend is still in acting, yes, but slowing down some with other highschool worries popping up. (She's a senior.) I think she's planning on minoring in theater.

MusicalMe: I don't think I've really met Savannah (because I'm a soprano 1,) but I do remember her for her wonderful solo. :) That's cool! I'll have to introduce myself sometime now and ask her about NaNo. lol

Okay, quick note about the Thursday meeting -- -- If you want, bring some paper / a laptop / whatever, for if you want to brainstorm a bit while we're together and you don't want to forget stuff. Other than that, you don't need anything--Oh! And have some money for a drink at the Coffee Pot. ;)

Again, the meeting is Thursday at 3:30. I'll check back in before then.

Please invite anyone you want to! If you have a friend who's doing NaNo, bring them if they can come! It would be fun to have a big group. :D (And start thinking about kick-off parties! I totally think we need one. But would y'all be okay with a party on Nov. 1st instead of Oct 31st? I think I'll probably be in San Antonio on the 31st.... Anyway, something to think about. (And we'll NEED you guys to invite fellow Wrimo's to the kick-off party! lol A big group would be awesome!)

Just a note to anyone who wasn't here last Thursday:

This Thursday, we have another scheduled get-together planned, for 3:30pm at The Coffee Pot.

I'll probably have my music-note jacket out (if not on) and if you're a newcomer and can't find us, there should be about four of us squeezed around a tiny table or something for maybe two ours on Thursday afternoon. Look for the group of people geeking out about tv shows, movies, and books (of course!) We shouldn't be too hard to spot. ;]

Hope to see some new faces there!

You can totally do this! You'll be okay. :D

I still have a very very loose outline, and I usually can't write without a pretty serious one so...I'm in trouble too. ;p

How seriously did you change the NaNo? Like, whole new plot?

Hey, my name's Robin. I graduated from college longer ago than I care to admit. This is my second year doing NaNoWriMo, and I've already written more than I did before I dropped out last November. My work schedule is a little insane so it's hard for me to make meet-ups. I at least wanted to wish all the other San Martians good luck!

If you need the address or directions to the church, let me know... the rest of the details are:

Start time: 6 pm
End time: last week we were there until 2 a.m..... we have no set stopping time

There WILL be food - please RSVP so we know how many to prepare for.

There IS wireless internet, but some people had trouble with it last time... it works on my computer just fine...

If you want to bring your own food, that's fine, I only ask that you don't bring alcohol since it's a church.
