Hello there!
I am your friendly neighborhood ML, Katie. I'm very happy that you;re joining me this month for all the insanity that will ensue. We've had a blast the last 2 years that I've been involved, and I hope that we can have as much fun this year.

I've started this post so we can introduce ourselves. Feel free to tell us anything you want. As much or as little. Even just pop in and say hi to let us know you'll be writing with us.

I'll start.
I'm Katie, I'm 30, and this is my 3rd year both participating in NANO and being an ML. My first year, I finished but last year I hit a snag and didn't get very far in my novel. I'm married, I have 3 cats, and I work in a busy optometry office in Wilmington.

Hey all,

I'm Lynn. I just turned thirty on the 1st of this month. I'm married and have four pets - two cats and two dogs (one of which is currently curled up in my lap. This will be my 3rd NANO though last year real life got in my way and it was really hard to work on the story. My classes this semester aren't as intense so I'm hoping to be able to finish. I've yet to come to any write in just due to a very busy schedule. I may need to change that this year and try to get something a little more out of this experience.

Hi all,

I'm Gina--fourth time participant, one time NaNo winner. Married, three boys, no pets, work at a local orchard, and have no idea what I'm writing this year. I have a title, but that's looking more dubious as each day passes. I finally broke down and bought No Plot? No Problem!, hoping it'll help me discover ideas for a novel, but all I seem to be focusing on is the snacks portion of the book! I'm no help to myself whatsoever.

PS: Happy Birthday, Lynn.

Greetings everyone - this will be my first attempt at Nano Wrimo! And I am really excited ... Although it's about a month away I am already pouring over the forums for tips, insights, and connections with others

I live in Seaford, I am thirty, I am married to a wonderful woman, and we are working on our first child - which will complete the picture already occupied by the new home, and the great dog! It's been a BIG year for us already - I've done almost all I can think of to solidify my adulthood ... except run for public office. I thought writing a novel might be more fun for November.

So - I found Nano Wrimo after visiting a bookstore and seeing a Writer's Kit - Write a Book in Thirty Days - I think it was a companion to No Plot No Problem which I've toyed with buying numerous times... My wife jokingly said "You won't write a novel!" Knowing full well that I've started and stopped nearly every project known to man ... including the unbuilt model ship gifted to me a few years ago ...

SO - - With that little tongue in cheek challenge I searched the web for ways to actually write a novel that would take just 30 days and save me $30 bucks by not purchasing the kit at B&N ... Successful! I found Nano Wrimo!

I'll be posting my story - as it develops - in a blog format - at http://novel.pooririshman.com Which I hope will keep me writing, and moving forward - and will ensure I am a 'published' author - no matter how horrible the outcome!

I am really looking forward to this experience!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Vicky, and this is my first NaNo. I've wanted to participate for several years, but I was attending a quarter based college, and mid-November was always packed with final projects and exams, and I didn't have the time to set aside. I'm not quite finished with school, but I'm finishing up my last few general ed. classes at Del Tech starting in January - which means I have PLENTY of free time to write! :)

I've wanted to write for as long as I can remember, but I've never managed to finish a project. I'm hoping NaNo will give me the push I need to get going.

Hi all!

My name is Lynette and I'm stopping by this year to say HI to everyone from Delaware. This is my second nanowrimo, but I didn't get to finish last year since I was on a vacation in November for over a week. Luckily this year I'll be home by the 1st!

I'm 34, from Newark and a stay-at-home dog mommy. I'm a book reviewer as well as a writer when I have the time off from reading and writing up reviews that is!

Nice to meet everyone and good luck to all.

So many new faces! Awesome.

I'm Amber and this is my fourth NaNo, and only my second not as an ML (I'm hanging up my ML hat to focus on running the Young Writers' Program version of NaNoWriMo at the high school where I teach.) I also have bought No Plot No Problem, but Crisis Core and Dissidia on the PSP have somehow kept me from it... ;-) NaNo's been a blast every year and I'm looking forward to writing with y'all!

Hey everybody.

I'm Sarah. I'm 28, I live in Milford. This is my 4th year doing Nano, and I've won all 3 previous years.

I was raised down here on the Kent/Sussex line, but have been living in Maine the last five years. Life got really tough up there, so I moved back home. And looking forward to a whole new bunch of writers.

I like to post an excerpt of the novel i' working on, and I love love love comments on it. So don't be shy.

Unfortunately, I have, for the first time in 4 years, been drawing a blank on what to write... But that will get fixed in time.

Greetings.

I'm Matt. This is my second year trying NaNo. I'm in Dover and am looking forward to all the fun I had last year cranking out another novel. I made it last year and even got published through CreateSpace. I'm hoping this year I'll be able to do it again.

Hello All!

My name is Christian. This would be my second year with nanowrimo (not consecutively). My first year I managed to finish, but forgot to upload my story. The reason why I push so hard for nanowrimo is that I tend to focus too much on editing and not enough about getting the story out. I'm 19, I live just outside of Milford. and a ridiculously large family.

I'm Dan, also 30 (anyone detecting a trend of sorts here?), and I live near Lewes with my 5-year-old daughter. I've signed up for NaNoWriMo in years past, but never got anywhere beyond a first paragraph. I'm hoping it'll be different this year!

I grew up in Sussex County, lived out in Ohio for about a decade, and returned to Delaware two years ago. The three story ideas i'm vacillating among at the moment are all set locally, which I figure will make it easier for me to tap into inspiration and characters.

My main challenge with writing fiction in the past has been dialogue. I read through what I've written and think to myself, "Naaah - people don't really talk like THAT!" and edit myself. I'm going to just plow past that this year, write some really bad dialogue and enjoy it! :-)

Hello! I'm Abby. I'm fifteen (I think I'm the youngin' here...which is slightly daunting...) and this is my VERY FIRST YEAR attempting NaNo. I'm very excited (albeit nervous), and getting antsy to start, especially since I'm plot-recycling (because it didn't work the first three times).

I have two cats and a dog that I love dearly, and I take my studies very seriously (which is why I'm glad my research paper will be over with beforehand). I'm going to quit my volunteer job because homework + theater + NaNo = no time.

I overuse parentheticals, commas, and semicolons, even if I do use them correctly. I tend to lean toward grammar-Naziism. I live in the Kent-County area, and I have the attention span of a gnat whenever I'm not writing. I'm a huge procrastinator, and like an IDIOT, I just bought KH: 358/2 Days, which will distract the bejeezus out of me (like Crisis Core does on a frequent basis, even though I've finished it three times).

Hi, I grew up in Newark and live near the line so I want to join up with Delaware. New to nano ! I want to just write and write total crap if I must to push myself through the word count I alternate between being a perfectionist and procrastinating ( until I'm perfect, of course) and I just want to "do it"! Yes YEs YES!!!!

Hi all. My name is Buddy and I live in New Castle.

I've tried NaNoWriMo a few times in the past, but I've yet to finish a novel this way. I'm determined though that this year will be different.

Having said that, I still don't know exactly what my novel will be about yet. Oh well, I've got close to a week still to think about it!

Best of luck to all of you,

Buddy

Hey everyone! I'm Molly, and I'm 19 years old. Besides balancing my first semester in college, a job in retail which gets busier the closer christmas gets, and a long-distance long-term boyfriend, I decided to try out NaNoWriMo for the first time. I have another novel that I've been working on on-and-off for the past 4-ish years and have only recently hit the 10k word mark with that. However, I'm not going to be using that as my NaNo submission, because I feel as if that would be cheating. I have a fuzzy idea for what I'd like to write about. So far I've got twins (a boy, Fallon and girl, Raelyn) in either NY or London, or maybe some vague city I never name.

I'd love to come to the kick off event, but alas, I work all day on Sundays. Be patient with me, please. I'm new to this, but hope to be around the forums a lot.

HAY everybody, I'm Bridget, 22, engaged, 11-month-old, all three of us are living with my parents in Wilmington (rent-free til the baby's 2, how can you beat that?) just saving up for a down payment for somewhere in interior Sussex. Eff the water table, I'm going to try like hell for a basement bar with a pool table.

Um. Oh yeah, I have the attention span of a goldfish, as my high school writing teacher loved to piont out, even though I was senior editor of the litmag three years running, always managed to get published and I've even made it into Caesura at UD once. Oh yeah, I attend UD (I had to take this semester off though because the money ran out and they're holding my registration, isn't that nice of them >.<) and I'm actually going for a creative writing degree. There are some of us left.

I've always written, I tried out three other majors before finally succumbing. I've been doing nano since high school but only discovered the online community in '05. We have quite a history. I've never won, it's always a battle. I'm hoping this year to change that because this time I'm yet again recycling a plot, just not the same one I've been working on since I joined up officially, lol.

I'll be posting excerpts too (I think...maybe. With warnings.) and would love to know what any interested parties think. Can't wait to see you guys...holy shit, this Sunday. Yay!

Hi everyone.

I'm Joanna and I don't live in Delaware at all. However, I'm close by in Philadelphia, PA. :) I'm friends with your lovely ML, Katie, so you may be seeing me posting now and again.

This will be my 4th or 5th NaNo. I've never won but that won't stop me from trying again. I have some ideas, some friendly accountability with writing buddies & I've even gone as far as organize a few write-ins (in Delaware even!). I'm ready to start!

Hi everyone,

My name is Kat. I'm a woman with many hats, but who isn't? Most importantly (to me) I am a Mom and a Mom-mom. I have two ideas, that I'm trying to decide between, to pursue for my month of adventure writing. I have 450 pages of a non-fiction memoir that I've been working on for a few years. Compiling the data was no problem, actually completing the manuscript is another issue entirely. I'm hoping to get past my fears and anxieties of putting words on paper where other people can actually read them. I'm also hoping to get into a rhythm of writing that I can carry through the rest of my life well past November. I hope to meet all of you at the write-ins which I hope to attend if I don't become completely crippled by my fears and anxieties.

Hi Delaware NaNos ... nice to meet all of you! I'm Melissa, mom of twins, nonprofit exec with a horrendously long commute to PA from southern New Castle County, and this is my first year doing NaNoWriMo.

Too many years have gone by where I've said that I'd love to write a novel someday. Turning 40 this year kind of made me think I'd better get a move on. Hence, NaNo.

Someday starts in just a few hours.

Good luck to all! Looking forward to meeting all of you at a write-in, hopefully.

Hi, I'm Ron! This is my first year doing nanowrimo and I'm excited. I'm 26, and I'm in a relationship, and I'm also originally from outside of Buffalo NY. I'm also working on a memoir about my experience working as an expatriate in Singapore for a year. I had been wanting to write it for a while, but made little progress. I think giving myself a month will be a challenge but will also serve to motivate me.

Hi! I'm Kelly. I'm 32 and I've been living in DE for about 3 years. This is my 2nd year trying nanowrimo. Last year I did not meet my goal mainly because everytime I touched my computer something else went wrong but by December all was well again. Go figure! I also am a master procrastinator. So I am hoping that does not slow me down or stop me this year. I have a plan (sort of) and I hope it helps. I also, plan on coming to some of the write in there are 3 close to me (yeeeaaa!). It's usually hard for me to get to these though because my daughters keep me pretty busy. Oh yeah, I have two girls in middle school and with all of their activities there is not much time for me. But November will be a little more about me (especially if they want to get gifts for christmas).

Well, good luck to all and I hope to see you around.

Hi, Everyone!

I'm just getting the knack of reading and posting to boards, so I'm a bit late on introducing myself.

I am in my late 50's and not-really-retired. I moved to Rehoboth, DE, about five years ago, got married, and bought a house (hence, not retired anymore). I teach part-time at Del Tech, and I do local theatre work (teaching, directing) sometimes. I am a member of Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild where I have learned much about writing, more than I learned in undergraduate school.

This is my first attempt at NaNoWriMo. I'd heard about it but never in time to actually begin a November of this challenge; fortunately, some angel prompted me to buy a writing magazine when I was wasting some time, and there was an article about the challenge that I actually read before November 1. Wow! Divine inspiration?

My challenge is that I am starting over on a story that I wrote over 20 years ago, revised easily over thirty times, and finally decided that I've learned enough recently about writing that I needed to toss out the first novel and just start over with the plot line and a few of the same characters. Maybe this time, I'll get a novel worth sending out. The biggest problem I face is trying to stick within one genre; prior to this, the novel couldn't decide (okay, I couldn't decide) whether it was mystery or romance (or what type of romance) since it really seems to want to be a "gothic romance" (Do those still find publication?). Whatever.

I am looking forward to making myself find time in life to stick to the daily writing and word counts.

Nancy

Greetings!

I have been flirting with NaNoWriMo since I discovered it too late last year. I am in my 30s (WOOT!) live in Newark, and am not yet a novelist. I am however, a scientist. I have a great husband, dog, cat(s) and MAC, all of which are supporting me this month.

This should be easy right? I mean, yes, I work long hours, am taking a night class, have three freelance photography projects in the pipeline, am knitting everyone scarfs for Christmas and have promised to have a baby quilt done by Thanksgiving.... But its only 5,000 words right? Oh wait....50,000?? Oops :)

Hello everyone. New to NaNoWriMo, first came across it from the vlogbrothers on youtube, later saw mentions on it on various forums I visit and decided to finally check it out. I'm extremely interested in Writing but never set a goal, much less one as high as 50k words, in my writing before so maybe it'll help me actually get past the 20 or so pages my previous attempts at writing seem to stop at. Had I know about this back in mid October I'd have held of starting another one of those said projects, but meh, putting that on hold and doing the honest thing by not touching the composition book its all written in.

Oh sorry, forgot to actually introduce myself, I am Malcolm Creigt, though my family and co-workers know me by something else.

I'll probably be writing more than visiting here past today but still, hello to you all, and if you wish to get in contact with me, Clockwork.Vampire@yahoo.com is probably actually the best for the moment I think...so yeah. See you around and all that.
