The Fredericton group is hosting a NaNoWriMo Writing Retreat on Sunday, Nov. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. No matter where you are in NB, you're all invited to attend!
The cost is $20 to cover the rental of the lodge; any extra monies will go toward NaNoWriMo (first, to cover the costs of the Fredericton group, and then as a donation to NaNoWriMo.org). Email writerwithoutborders@gmail.com to get your name on the list; pay ASAP to register and secure your spot. We have a maximum of 30 spots available. (Post-secondary students can pay $10 until Nov. 1.)
The retreat will be at the Oakland Farm & Lodge, which is a really nice two-room lodge that is a very productive writing space (I know because the Fredericton writing group Freddy Words had a writing retreat there in August!). There is no wi-fi, which minimizes distractions, and there's a full kitchen and a cozy fireplace. The lodge is in New Maryland, just 10 minutes outside of Fredericton. We're going to organize a potluck so we can use the day to concentrate on writing. Please plan to bring a potluck contribution (i.e. a casserole) and to contribute a snack; the potluck organizer will contact you closer to the date to let you know what we need - though if you have any suggestions, let us know when you RSVP!
Locally, we're arranging a carpool, so let us know if you need a ride or can offer a ride, and where in the city you're coming from. Outside of Fredericton, it would be a great idea to organize your own carpool, if you have a group of people who want to go (I know someone from Saint John who's wanting to go, for example!).

Hey everyone!
The RSVPs from out-of-towners are coming in fast and furious, while the Fredericton RSVPs (not including the year-round writing group) are non-existent! I've puzzled over this, and have come up with a theory: people outside of Fredericton need to decide soon to book time off work and make travel arrangements; and local people must be thinking they can always RSVP closer to the date of the retreat.
But spots are filling up fast! As of today, I have 18 people on my list, and our max is 30. And I'm still hearing talk of more people coming up from Saint John and Moncton (guys, thanks for your enthusiasm! this is going to be GREAT!). So that's all to say - if you're in Fredericton and you would like to attend the retreat, PLEASE email me at writerwithoutborders@gmail.com without delay! I can get your name on the list, and then you can have a little more time to get the payment to me (which is when your spot will be secured). This is being organized by the Fredericton group, and I would really love to get at least a few more Fredericton people out.

I've gotten the day off, but I'm still waiting on figuring out if there's going to be a carpool from Moncton, since I have no transportation. But I'm now 90% sure I can go, since the Moncton forum is talking about carpooling, so.... Once that's confirmed, I'll send you the money. ^_^.

I went on FB and put myself as Maybe Attending... I live in the Fredericton area, past New Maryland in Beaverdam and we do have a van so we might be able to grab anyone from the area if I go. I wanted to know if we have to stay the whole time or if I can skip out to go to church and come back? It would be about 1:30-4:30 that I'd need to be gone for. And how do we pay?
