We have a regional calendar embedded in the region info.

I can add events as they are planned -- that way everyone is always up to date.

I have events planned, but not all the locations are finalized, so mark your calendars -- more info will be forthcoming.

Hoever -- our first event is planned.

Sunday October 18th. Alamo Cafe and I-10 near Huebner. 7pm. Come meet me. Come meet the other people crazy enough to do this!!!

I will start a thread soon for RSVPing, but mark it down. And be there!

Where are the write-ins going to be? Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to any of the events on Sundays.

It doesn't look like the meet and greet is on the Google calendar? That's my scheduling tool of choice, so it would be awesome to get those sync'ed up!

Looking forward to Alamo Cafe!

Are we going to have a midnight Nov. 1 kick-off write in? I hope so. I've been looking forward to it since the last one.

For right now things are kind of experimental. The Barnes and Noble that we did our write ins at closed, and moved to the shops at La Cantera. I am thinking for the first one, if the write in starts as they open, that we can take over some of the chairs or the Starbucks, and still use the Barnes and Nobles. But we shall have to see. I am going to go this weekend and check out the as they open crowd to see how things look. So I will let you know.

The meet and greet time was not cooperating. It kept displaying for Monday. I am trying to fix it now.

Midnight -- yes. Where still working on that one. We might use the same local as last year. We might take over a Jim's or IHOP. Not certain yet. I am open to suggestions. Seriously. We ran into this problem last year as well. Where to do the crazy midnight kick off.

IHOP sounds good if we can find plugins. We could stay until breakfast. :)

Honestly, I don't care whether its a coffe shop or a truck stop as long as I can run my laptop and there isn't a loud speaker blaring orders over my shoulder like last year. (The Dragon's Lair the year before was better, plus we got to watch the freaks going out clubbing.)

Is there anyone on the list that has a connection with a business owner that might let a bunch of noveling geeks crash their place for a few hours on a Sat evening/Sun morning?

Crazy is the word, all right. (looking at my schedule through the end of the year...)

I'll be a maybe for the meet'n'greet. Depends what time I get back to town that weekend.

How long do you see the Saturday write-ins going? I just found out that I'll be working til noon or so the first three Saturdays. :( (well, :) for the hours, but still!)

Suggestion: Hearthstone Cafe at the Forum has a Thursday night fundraiser option, where you can sign up for a Thursday evening to have a group show up & the proceeds of the evening go to the group. Is that something we'd be interested in -- at least for the north-side folks?

Can't wait!

If we wanted to organize a fundraiser for the Office of Letters and Lights that would be awesome. I am supposed to remind everyone in the region nicely to donate anyways. We shall certainly have to look into that.

As for the write in's I was thinking 9-12 but we shall see. I still dont know if the forum area people will be having their own write in on that side of town, etc. They have been oddly silent as of yet.

I don't know how many events I'll be able to make it to - and pretty much nothing, ever, on Sundays - so I haven't said anything about planning, assuming, I guess, that people who would be able to be there would speak up. :)

Dude, I live, like, 15 minutes away from the forum, I've heard NOTHING about it being used for my side of town.

Wait, is there a region for my side of town? *iz confused*

Hearthstone is a great place b/c they have free wifi for emergency "research", and the food is pretty good. Plus, their applying for a beer and wine license! *iz happy*

There isn't a region, no, and we don't have a ML or ML-wannabe who lives over here, I don't think. Last year we met a couple times at the Semmes branch of the library and that was it, unless I'm forgetting something.

I've only lived here since mid-2007 (San Antonio, I mean, not just this part of town) so if you know good places to have write-ins, and good times to have them... maybe you can start a thread and I'll reply to it? :)

I'm in the same area and I know there are a few others of us here too. If anyone can find a write-in location in and/or around the forum area, count me in. I'm good Fri pm through most of Sat and Sun after noon.

I'll stop by Hearthstone tomorrow to get details about the fundraiser thing. It'd be cool if we can make that work.

IHOP or Jim's or similar sounds good for the kickoff. Though I don't actually need a plugin, as I'll have my Neo.

Re Forum get-togethers: I think we should definitely do something on this side of town. (Particularly as my Saturday mornings are gone now...and here I was thinking I'd be able to make the regular write-ins. Oops.) Most of Sunday is taken up for me too, though I may be able to make the evening socials. I could do Friday, or Saturday pm.

The library worked well last year, though it was quieter (obviously!) than the main write-ins. I'd guess Hearthstone or the bookstore would work, though we'd have to check out how crowded they are at those times.

Watching the freaks was hilarious, but parking was hideous, if you'll recall. I still have paint on my back bumper from running into their stupid little valet parking sign.

IHOP or Jim's sounds pretty good to me for the kick off, though that may have something to do with the fact I'm wide awake and starving at 4:30 am.

Yep. Parking sucked! I had to park two buildings over and walk. I do not want to go through that again.

Was there any decision on meeting at the Forum? Actually, I'd be interested in any meet ins in the evening (Mon, Wed, Thurs) or some time other than Saturday morning on the weekend.

Yep, see the Forum Folkses thread. Tentative plan Thursday evenings at Hearthstone; fallback plan, Friday evenings or we'll see what works.

Do you have locations up for the events? I'm having no trouble w/ times/dates, but when I click on "more details" it doesn't have a place... is it undecided or just hard to find? : -)

I must have missed the thread about the kick-off write-in. Do we have a location yet, or are we still looking for someone who will let us in at midnight?

Awesome. I'm doing military SF this year so expect me in a pseudo military uniform. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like my new laptop is going to show up in time, so hopefully my ancient laptop will last just one more week.

Everyone bring your printed books from last NaNoWriMo!!! I want to see them!
