One may have noted by now, I am a) a product of the 80's and all stigmas that come with it, and b) pop culture has bled heavily into my every day speech. And yes, I do speak fluent Buffy.
But onto more important matters:
KICK OFF PARTY!!!!
Yes, it's October my pretties, which means the kick off party shall be happening soon! And we all know that after the kick off party comes that magical time of year called NaNoWriMo!
So, I here by proclaim that the 2009 Niagara Region NaNo Kick Off Party shall:
Now that we have that sorted out, we need to figure out how to rock your socks off, if indeed, you are wearing any socks at all. (Though considering the weather lately has been hinting towards that W-season that I dare not say lest it arrives early, you probably are wearing socks.)
- Shall we do Karaoke?
- Pub crawl? (age permitting of course, I hear St. Paul st has many options, none of which I ever would have taken advantage of while attending Brock. I don't know what you're talking about. STOPLOOKINGATMELIKETHAT!)
- Boston Pizza, Kelsey's or the similar?
- Hawk For The Cure after party? (shameless plug *blush* for the first annual Hawk For The Cure fundraiser for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation; live band, food, community involvement without any real effort, and totally kick ass! Shameless plug complete)
- Camp Fire at Heartland Forest? (Yes, that would include hot chocolate, hot dogs, s'mores, and marshmallows!)
So, what are your ideas?
And be forewarned, no responses from you guys and I WILL send my army of attack Platypi and Penguins after you, and trust me, there's nothing worse and a Platypus with his bill out of place because you pulled him away from the hockey games!
*grin*
Cheers mates, hope to hear from y'all soon!
(don't ask about the southern drawl that just took over, I don't know either...)
Your crazed ML,
Crow

Camp fire sounds fun!!! And would guarantee we get no writing done, just drinking. And possibly more drinking. And maybe some accidental burns.
Oct 30th might be good.

One: I can't drink.
Two: October 30-Nov 2 I have a parenting project which forces me to take care of a robotic baby. Can't go out much.
Three: Overprotective parents don't let me out of the house unless I'm around an [ir]responsible adult that they know and trust.
I would love to, but my life seems to forbid it for that weekend.

Quiet around here that you hear a pin drop...
Not sure what, if any, Nano I'll be doing this year but like in the past it depends on the wheres and when since the first I'll be doing something (what I haven't been able to nail down yet) is another birfday. Despite it being October 18th and still without heat (and cold being ba-a-a-a-d) I'm partail to the bonfire bit, since I'm thinking that would be easier on my budget. That way I won't feel bad if I bring a small bottle or two to celebrate my 33rd yr meeting new people and getting to know them besides the writing.
Honestly, I realize it's a "sepcial time" and all but Boston Pizza, Kelsey's and similiar places always seem so bloody espensive to me. :: thinks :: Likely just my old fuddy duddy personality that tends to come up once and a while. It's just my opinion, and you all have your right to ignore this post. No problem. I'm generally pretty laid back and easy going.
Happy Crafting,
----------Tanya

I like the campfire idea...no matter the date or details, I'm pretty sure I can make it out. Looking forward to meeting any others that manage to do the same!

I think I'm heading out to Guelph-land for some Halloween epic good times on the morning of the 30th until early morning on the 1st (I know, pushing my luck, not doing the whole 'start at midnight thing', but meh), but anything not in that little time slot I'm good for!

I'd love to meet up with the rest of the Niagara NaNo's... but Friday's are insane for me. I'm in class all day and then playing hockey at night.
For locations, Merchant Ale or Sheenan's on St. Paul are good but narrow/small if there's a group gathering. Bugsy's on Lakeshore (at Lake) has a back room we could comandeer. I'm not sure of other places that would have space for us to take over. :)

lmao There's a place called Bugsy's in Southern Ontario!!
Yes narrow and snug places would be very awkward, especially if you "youngins" are hauling around computers ;)

I be thinking that we might just have to do kick off party in November, if you guys thing you can handle it.
Sorry to hear about the baby project Kiaria, good luck. They don't let me play with those things anymore, apparently I have a nasty habit of reprograming them to shut up and be happy... But you can't prove nutting!
JustTansy, BookDiva, and Demagis: I agree, bonfire would be tres cool, it's my personal fave of the choices
Does anyone like the idea of Sunday November 1st doing a writing session at Williams in Niagara at say 6 or 7pm for 2 hours and then carpooling out to the bonfire?
That way we can do our actual work, AND have a meet and greet and fun-ness. *cue the woo hoos*

Tentatively I'm going to say yes to the evening thing just because I know my schedual tends to fall on vampire hours and I'm hoping to get a new, and reasonably priced, camera for my big 3-3 (maybe a box of hair color and 2 huge rubbermaid buckets for storage of my yarn).
So yes, pencil moi in. Doubt buddy will want to do any mild drinking Sunday night since classes are on for monday. I'll figure out the transportation and finding the place when plans are more solid-fliable.

I like the idea of meeting at Williams first. It's nice and quiet and won't agitate my...condition...
We are talking about the Williams in Niagara Falls (by Rogers Video), right? There isn't a Williams somewhere else that I'm unaware of, is there?
As for the bonfire, that sounds good to me, too. I might follow the carpool just so I can leave when I want to, though. I have a bit of an early start Monday morning.
I'm looking forward to all this.
