Kresge senior and RA here. I'm thinking of turning NaNoWriMo into a few events - some write ins or something. Anyone would be welcome. :)

Please, pleasepleaseplease do a UCSC write in. I'm a freshman at College 8, and this is my first year partaking this journey, and I don't want to go alone! I think it'd be a really neat idea if everyone met up at Café Revolutión, near Colleges 9 and 10, since it has such a nice atmosphere, and if you bring your own mug, you get free coffee or tea. And I don't know about anyone else, but I need tea to write. Especially free tea.

I've heard rumors that my fabulous Co-ML (remember, it's pronounced like "camel" with an accent) Celebel is thinking in the direction of having at least one of the scheduled write-ins on campus. But they're only rumors, and far be it from me to repeat gossip....

I do hope the rumors come true. If not, then that's fine. It's just hard to get transportation anywhere as a frosh. The Santa Cruz Diner, though, is relatively easy to get to by bus, so that's nice.

I'm a Crown kid, though I live off campus now. I would love to meet up at Cafe Revolution if someone organizes it (free coffee!). I'm on campus every day for classes anyway, and it's a nice way to steal a couple of hours of writing without distractions.

Here's what it takes to organize. Tell me a day of the week and a time when you can reliably be there. I put it on the calendar. Hey, presto - ORGANIZED!

Your wish is my command! It's now officially up on the calendar. Any old time you'd like to summon your fellow Wrimos, I'm always happy to get your stuff on the calendar. Thanks for the suggestion!

This is so exciting. I'm glad there is both a Cafe 8 write-in and a Café Revolutión write in.

Also, how is everyone doing on their novels?

Hey Junglemonkey (and everyone else) -

I see that there is a write-in scheduled this Thursday at 4:30 at College 8 cafe on campus?

I'm traveling up and down the pacific coast for my NaNoWriMo ... I'll be visiting my sister (a UCSC junior) on Thursday and would love to participate in a write-in (they help so much!) - is it cool if I come? The timing is perfect for me.

I'm a UC person too (Berkeley grad)

Let me know!

Jonathan

Our write-ins are open to everyone, so as long as you can 1) get onto campus and 2) find the place and 3) find parking, you're more than welcome. This bunch is particularly friendly, so I think that you'll have a lovely time. Personally, I and my vomit-colored ML shirt won't be there because my family occasionally misses me and wants me to cook them dinner and do their laundry, but that's okay. There will likely be more than enough wonderful people so that you and your sister will have an awesome time!

Well, I think you should!! In fact, if you don't, everyone who *is* there will just be sitting around, moping, thinking about how much better it would have been if you were there....
