Brainstorming meeting will be held either on Friday, October 23 or Saturday, October 24. Tentative time is 5pm to 11pm (or midnight), dependent upon location, which will be determined by the end of the week. If enough people are interested, we may even have meetings both nights.

If anyone has a preferred location, please PM me to let me know, and I'll work with the majority (if there is one).

Current potential locations are the two bookstores (Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million). I'll be trying to talk to their managers today.

I look forward to hearing more about the brainstorming session. Please do post details. I live in Hamilton, AL...just across the line...so Tupelo is my home region and we can all use support.
Thanks!

When: October 24 at 5pm - 11pm
Where: Books-A-Million, North Gloster Street, Tupelo
What to bring: Yourselves, pen/paper, laptop if desired, money for food

This is the brainstorming session and will also serve as our introduction meeting for all the local participants. Bring friends if you want, to try and convince them to join up.

To note, I will be working at the US Army Reserve unit that day for my drill. We usually get off right at 5 on Saturdays, so I might be a few minutes to a half an hour late, depending. Because of this, and so that people who don't know me will know who to look for, I will stay in my uniform.

Hope to see all the locals there!

That's fine. I'm actually planning another one for people who can't make this weekend's meeting.

Details for next weekend:

October 31 (Saturday)
Brainstorming Session
When: 5pm to 11pm
Where: Books-A-Million
What to Bring: Yourself (and friends if you want), pen/paper, laptop, money for food
*My roommate/co-2L will start this one off. I'll be showing up around 6pm, which is when I get off work.

November 1 (Sunday)
Kick-Off Party
When: 7pm to close (9pm)
Where: Atlanta Bread Company (S. Gloster St, near Crosstown)
What to bring: Money for food, laptops (they have enough plugs for everyone), et cetera.
I have to go to a store meeting from 6 until no later than 8, so unless we're done early, I will be an hour late for this, as well.

I'm planning on attending the session on the 24th. I'll be in Tupes anyway for shopping and a movie (and to avoid game day craziness in Oxford), so it's a natural fit.

Maybe we Oxfordians can organize a carpool over there to save a bit on gas, though my tiny car is only good for three passengers--four if two of them are anorexic or children :)

*waves* Hi. I'm the aforementioned roommate of Jeri and co-2L, Megan. As I'll be there first off next Satuday, I figured I should go ahead and post here.

Those that will be at BAM today will get to see me (when you see a brunette straggling in at around 9-10ish wearing a black Itawamba hoodie with jeans and carrying a big black binder who also smells of steak, fish, and grease, that'll be me coming in from work). For those that won't and will be coming to next Saturday's meeting, I'll be wearing something incredibly recognizable and will post what it is the day before so you'll know who I am.

Had a great time meeting Jeri, Alex and Sarah (okay, not "meeting" Sarah, or Jeri ;) ) at BAM Saturday night. Good brainstorming session. I'm actually starting to get somewhat excited about this. Shock and awe!

P.S. Sorry we missed you, Megan. I was falling asleep and had to drive. Getting Older Syndrome. ;D

Haha. It was good to see you and Sarah again, and meeting Alex. I really hope more people can show up to the next one.

I've got incentives for you! Our wonderful municipal liaison, Emily, has sent me some stickers to pass out, which I'll do during the kick-off party. I'll also be looking into ordering some other stuff from the site, but that's hush-hush right now, and won't be for the kick-off, but for the end-of-NaNo party. ^_~

I'm sorry Megan had to work this past Saturday and couldn't be there, but she'll definitely be at this Saturday's meet. Feel free to come in costume if you'd like, and I hope more people can at least show up for the kick-off on Sunday.

S'cool. There's always next time, after all. ;D And darn that pesky Getting Older Syndrome!

And I'll be first off at BAM next meeting as stated above. Anyone that knows me that comes will be able to find me easy. For those that don't, I'll be the brunette wearing white ears with red fluff on the insides and a fluffy white tail.

The meeting in Tupes this Saturday was a lot of fun, and I hope to see those same people and many others at the kickoff this Sunday!

Incidentally, if anyone in the Oxford area wants to go to the kickoff, I can haul up to 3 people there in my car. So there's no reason that Ole Miss and environs should have but a sole representative there :)

Hi there, I'm from Amory, which is like, forty five minutes away from Tupelo. I'm going to try with all my power to come to the October 31 meeting. Some scheduling conflicts might occur, but I might be there!

I'm from the Ripley area and since Corinth is dead, I'm really thinking about making the trip to Tupelo for the thing if I'm off work.

You are more than welcome to come along, if you're able. The more the merrier, and I'd hate for anyone to have to miss out on the kick-off at the least just because there's not enough people in the area for them to have one.

As of right now, this is what the schedule for the next month looks like. I'll update every week with specifics on weekday meetings and on any changes to the schedule for that week.

November 4 (Wednesday)
Weekday Write-In
When: 6pm to close
Where: Books-A-Million
What to bring: Laptops, money for snacks/drinks, and I need at least one person to bring a power strip. I'll be bringing mine, but we may have to link them together so everyone can reach.

November 7 (Saturday)
Weekend Write-In
When: 6pm to close
Where: Books-A-Million

November 11 (Wednesday)
Weekday Write-In
When: 6pm to close
Where: Books-A-Million

November 14 or 15 (exact date TBD)
Halfway Party
When: 6pm to close
Where: Atlanta Bread Company
What to bring: Laptops, your notes, money for food, et cetera
Regardless of which date the party is on, both days that weekend have plans; one of the two will also be a write-in. Details TBD a week prior, when I get my schedule.

November 18 (Wednesday)
Weekday Write-In
When: 6pm to close
Where: Books-A-Million

November 21
Write-In
When: 6pm to close
Where: Books-A-Million
Megan will be taking this one completely, as I will be in Grenada the entire weekend for drill.

November 25 (Wednesday)
Weekday Write-In
When: 6pm to close
Where: Books-A-Million

November 28 (Saturday)
Weekend Write-In
When: 6pm to close
Where: Books-A-Million

December 1 (tentative)
OMG It's Over! Party
When: 6pm to close
Where: New China Buffet* (North Gloster, across from the mall)
If all goes according to plan, I will have gifts for any winners. I know it's a weeknight, but I hope you'll all come to this one!

Middle-of-the-week write-ins TBD on a weekly basis, but for now will be set as being on Wednesdays. I'll have to consult my schedule each week. Check back on the thread to see, if you're interested in coming. The weekday meets will all be held at Books-A-Million, and I'll be bringing a surge protector, just in case we have more people than their limited outlets can handle. At least one other ought to bring one in case we need to extend beyond the reach of mine.

*If anyone is against going here, let me know. I'm open to suggestions.

Alas, you both missed us by an hour. bewilderness had to leave at about three minutes to 8 and Jeri and I were both starving (she was to the point of being delirious) so we headed out then as well. I hate to hear that we missed you guys!

Damn. Sorry that we missed you, but like Megan said, I was beyond delirious from lack of food, plus I'd just gotten off a very busy few hours of work at the mall (trick-or-treaters galore). Will y'all be able to make it to the kick-off tomorrow?

Also, here's what I'm going to do. Megan said she'd checked the thread sometime after 5pm and hadn't seen any new messages, so...!

I need anyone that's coming to any event to post, PM, or call at least two hours prior to the event. I have to know how many people are showing up so that I can arrange tables and stuff like that. And that way, Megan and I have enough warning that, in case of an emergency like tonight, at least one of us can stay behind to wait while the other goes to take care of the emergency.

If you need to call, just message me for my phone number. I may not answer on the first try, but if you even just leave a message, I'll know to get back to you.

I'm planning on coming to tomorrow's kickoff party, but the plan is tentative at best. I get off work at 2, but I have a few other things I have to take care of, and if they go as planned, which they never do, I'll make it. I'll be the oblivious one with flaming red hair and thick black glasses and I'll probably be wearing a Northeast hoodie. Wardrobe's tentative as well because...

Well, let's just say that you guys don't even want to know about my laundry situation. LOL.

Thanks!!!

I was really looking forward to the kickoff thing tonight, but it looks like I'm not gonna make it down there. The dragon wagon has been...less than cooperative. But with a little luck (and I'm practically made of the stuff, ;) I should be able to make it to a couple of the weekend write ins. Can't wait to meet you folks!

Hour and a half to meet-up time, guys! Hoping to see a lot of you tonight at Atlanta Bread - I'll be the brunette wearing a Marvel shirt with a leather coat.

Hopefully I will be able to make it to at least one mid-month write-in, and then either the 25th or the 28th depending on Thanksgiving plans. I may actually be able to come to the Dec.1st wrap party, even though it's in the middle of exam week, because I don't have any exams on that day or the day after. Here's hoping my Friday exam doesn't get moved to earlier like some people have been begging for. :/

Can't wait to meet more MS NaNoers!

Those who can come to tonight's write-in, don't forget to let me know a couple hours beforehand! Remember:

November 4 (Wednesday)
Weekday Write-In
When: 6pm to close
Where: Books-A-Million

And again, if you need my phone number, feel free to send me a NaNoMail and I'll get it to you. I'd hate to miss anyone else.

For those who can't make the midweek write-in, don't forget there's one this Saturday, as well!

November 7 (Saturday)
Weekend Write-In
When: 6pm to close
Where: Books-A-Million

Good news! Well, maybe not so much. But I will be able to make the BAM meeting tonight! (It is still at BAM, right? Because that's kinda where I'm sitting, atm, and, um, I don't see...well, anyone...) I know I cut it a little close with the whole notification thing, but I honestly didn't know I'd be here until I pulled into the parking lot. Hope I run into...someone...anyone....hello?
