Hello everyone! Figured I'd get the ball rollin' on down through the ROK and chuck a thread up here for us to get to know each other. Can't believe it's NaNoWriMo time again already!
My name is Ang aka kindergoth and I live in Hae Bang Chon, Seoul. This will be my 4th NaNo (3rd in Korea and hopefully 3rd win!). Aims this year: finish the story, not just hit 50k, and raise a buttload of funds for the OLL as my class will be participating in the Young Writers' Program as well this year!

Hi everyone,
I'm Chris Sanders, your friendly neighborhood Municipal Liaison. This is my third year as Korea's (now Seoul's) region, and my 6th year in NaNo. I live in Seoul, just south of the Han River near Sadang Station, where I work at a university.
----------My NaNo track record is kind of spotty. I lost my first year, won the second and had the edited version of that story published in last year's Every Second Sunday anthology, won the 3rd and 4th year, then flamed out last year. With any luck, and a detailed outline, I won't crash and die this year.

Hello! I'm Cristina and this will be my seventh Nano, though my first in Korea. I live south of Seoul, in Cheonan, but hopefully I will be able to meet some other Nano people this year :)
My goal for this year is to write something with a beginning, a middle and an end - elements that have been lacking in my Nano adventures in the past.

Hi! I am Maggie, and I actually live in Daejeon--not Seoul.
I am new to Korea and it has been a few years since I have successfully completed Nanowrimo. I am a recent college graduate, and I just discovered that I had time again, to--you know--do things other than study.
Anyway, I am interested in meeting other writers here in Korea, but especially others who may be around Daejeon.
I also write Fantasy. :D

Hi! I'm Casi, and I live north of Seoul in Goyang.
This will be my second NaNo in Korea, my third on this account, and my fourth over all. I won last years, and I edited, and I even posted it online for people to critique at http://www.webook.com/project/Running-for-the-Stars .
I'm willing to hit up events that are on the weekend, and since I'm getting a cell phone it should make it much easier to do such things this year.
If you want to get a hold of me online I can be found at:

Hi Koreananos,
I'm Ahssakat, aka Kathryn and I'm a former Korea ML from 08. I have done and won nano in 07 and 08 and this year am hoping to finish the second have of my 08 nano fantasy novel.
I'm now in Pamplona, Northern Spain, but oddly the Spain boards are all in Spanish so I think I will be hanging out here stalking you...
I'm 7 hours behind you so you'll all be out-stripping me from hour one!

Hello!
I'm Sarah and this is my third Nano, first in Korea, and I am a 2 time winner, going for my third!
I also live in Cheonan (hello Cristina - we should have some Cheonan write-ins!) and am excited to find out who else is out there getting ready to burn up the keyboards!
I have no clue what I'm going to write about, and no real goals other than to finish...I'm sure I'll figure it out before November gets here...

I'm back in Vegas this year, but like Kathryn I just wanted to stop in and say hi. (Although my region does speak in English, so I don't have that excuse)
My region isn't doing a night of 5,000 words and coping out and doing the kick-off party on the 30th because of Halloween. You guys are cooler.

Hello,
My name is Brian O'Connor. I live in Gumi, which is actually about midway between Seoul and Busan by train, and 30 minutes outside of Daegu.
This year's disaster is about some stuff that happened back in the States.
Yep, that's right, I'm American. I also learned how to say "I'm Australian" in Korean so that I don't have to say "I'm sorry" as often.
Cheers,
----------B.

Wow! This is awesome - some new faces and some old ones back to say hi.
Cheonanites! Any suggestions where we could hold one of the Sunday write-ins? if not, we might organise one in Suwon since I know of a cafe there we could use. NaNoMail me with ideas (NaNoMail is under the "My NaNoWriMo" menu at the top of the page).
Anica and Kathryn - we will miss you guys this year! Best of luck and stay around to word war with us when everyone else is asleep in your corner of the world...! We should do a virtual-reunion-write-in sometime next month. Thoughts?
Everyone in non-Seoul-like places - Welcome! It's awesome to have so many different places represented this year. Keep your ears and eyes on the 'What's Happening' type thread for details as to how to join us when we go on retreats to Busan and our other as yet secret undisclosed location =)

Hi, I'm Matthew, an English teacher in Osan and this will be my first year participating in NaNoWriMo. I'm almost 300 pages into a novel already, but probably have 200 to go, so I'm going to use this month as an opportunity to finish the novel. Are we allowed to use a an already started project for NaNoWriMo? I'm looking forward to having an excuse to completely dive into it and let my outer life snowball into chaos as I sit chained to my computer day and night, dumping coffee into my bloodstream through an IV. I'm glad i found this group, I don't know any other writers in Korea.

I've been in Korea for almost 2 years and have lived mainly in Gyeonggi-do, but did a brief stint in Chungchungbuk-do, from which I gained a suspense drama inspiration and now I'm in Osan which I beleive is a little south of Seoul, though it is connected by a subway line. If anyone is interested in meeting up with other NaNo folk some evening or weekend I would be game. Contact me.

Hi everyone! I'm Katrina and I live down in Daegu. This will be my first NaNoWriMo and I'm super excited. I actually just got an idea for my novel today from a story involving some singer who murdered a fan, so it's going to be a detective type story, I'm guessing it will have the format of a James Patterson 'Alex Cross' book.
Anyway, hit me up on Facebook: Katrina Baumann

Anyway, I've been doing this for the past four years and have been in Korea for all of them.
Not sure what I'll be writing this go-round.

Hey, I'm Katherine (or Kat for Koreans who still have trouble with the "th" dipthong...), I'm way up in North Korea (not really but I call it that) in Uijeongbu. This is my second NaNo, but my first in Korea. If anyone else is up this way, hit me up for some write-in action!
I have a NaNo blog up this year: http://fiftykat.blogspot.com if anyone else here has one let me know, so we can commiserate together even *off* of the forums! =P

Hi Tina, I was just in Pyeongtaek and I'm just down the subway line from there in Osan. What kind of novel are you writing if you don't mind me asking. I'm doing an eastern fatasy/liberation drama novel. How do you like it there? It's my first NaNo as well, and I'm hoping to finish. Good luck.

Hi,
I'm Danny. I actually live in Buan (about 20 miles south of Gimje). I'm way out of the way for either of the two regions, but I thought I'd join just to make contact. I probably won't be making it to any events, (I'm far away and my leg is in a brace- long story) but I want to be able to at least support other writers efforts through the intenet. This is my first year writing for this program, but I've successfully completed novels in the past. (And to me 50000 words is on the low side of a novel to complete in a month).

Hi all, I'm Wendy at I'm at Osan Air Base. I'm a writer (that sounds redundant); most of my work has been published in magazines.
This year I'm utilizing NaNoWriMo to get my book completed. It is non-fiction, so I'm not in NaNoWriMo to win, but rather for some discipline. I need to get myself in gear, get my writing done before the end of the year, and then get it all organized for publication.
I can be reached at autumndivona@yahoo.com. Looking forward to getting started.

I figured I'd introduce myself.
I'm Kristen, and this is my second official NaNo (started and won in 2008, by day 14). This is my first year in South Korea as well, and I'm down in Han nam. I am excited about this year to start (just a day and a half to go). This year is going to be a bit of a challenge, though. Last year, I was pretty much able to take off for the whole month. This year, I'm running a household of six (while being pregnant and sick ALL of the time), and my husband is going to be gone for bits and pieces of it, doing whatever it is that he does.
But, it's still achievable, and I am determined! Yay NaNo!

Hey! I'm lastlivingpoet and this is will be my fourth NaNo. (Finished four times, but this'll by my first NaNo in Korea.)
I live all the way down in Jukjeon (I'm on the Bundang Line, near the end). So it'll make it a little difficult at times to get up to Seoul for events.
I'm really pumped up for this kick off party. It's actually my first NaNo event. Never made it to a write in back home.
I'm from Pittsburgh, PA, USA. For November I will live on Mt. Dew, Coke, chocolate and french fries. Oh. And COFFEE.
I'll be writing by hand, probably.
Can't wait to meet everyone.

I swear, I just commented... but I don't know where it went.
Anyway, I'm Luke.
This is my third nano in Korea, but I've always been kind of a loner during nano, but this year I will force myself to at least one write-in. Also, if anyone else lives in Suwon, send me a message and we can do some midweek buddy writing as well. Anyhoo, good luck everyone!
