Yay! New site launch!
Is there anyone new here lurking around? Introductions all round!
I'm Julia, the ML for this year. I have a 18 month old baby boy named Marcus who keeps trying to help me write by slamming hard on the keyboard ^_^
I write romances and genre fiction and this year my Nano is going to be about twin heirs to the throne, separated at birth, who have to vie off for the throne of England. There's sorcery and secret birthmarks and a queen disguised as an old gypsy fortuneteller. I think it's going to be really fun to write :-)
Who else is in and around for this year?

Hi,
Charmaine here, reintroducing myself, because I assume the previous posts are wiped. I'm in Yass NSW, just 40mins from Canberra and this is my first NaNoWriMo contest. It may also turn out to be the first time I finish a novel.
I have enlisted my whole family into the NaNoWriMo challenge with me, my daughters, Emily (11) and Matilda (8) already have great plots and are working on their character's bios. My husband (man of science) was less impressed with the idea, but has agreed, and I think he will be enthused once he gets a plot. He's written a lot of non-fiction reference material before but I don't think he's done any fiction.
I am currently working on 'Dog Show Detective' about an 11yr old girl who enters her dog in shows and manages to also solve mysteries. My other WIP is 'The Pirate Girl', another 11yr old, but a bit wilder and living in the late 1500's. Irish Grace becomes a pirate to help rescue her father from the Queen's tower.
Everytime I work on one piece, I get an idea for something else (I'm so easily distracted it will be amazing if I finish this post).
Panicked about not having a NaNo plot, but blogged a few ideas and asked my readers to decide. The one in the lead at the moment is 'The Costume Maker' My plot ideas are:
Avatar Wave - thanks to Google Wave, Avatars have found a way to exchange with their user in this world. The time they can spend here is limited (until the computer reboots). There is an exception, one avatar has found a way to stay - he simply kills off his user while he's trapped online. Other avatars must find a way to track him down and destroy him, as he has taken on a taste for serial killing...
The Costume Maker - A gypsy type woman makes the most beautiful costumes by hand and a spoilt teen treats her rudely and bullies her into make a grand costume for her. The costume maker has powers unknown to humans and can make costumes that whisk you away to her world (medieval, fairies, dragons, etc). She sends the girl there as punishment, but there is a problem when she tries to get her back. So... the girls friends and the boy who has a crush on her all head into the world to find her and bring her home.
The Book Publisher's Wife - Mystery. 1940's. Detective who longs to be published is hassling his publisher, as are many other would-be authors. Detective turns up at the house one day and the book publisher's wife said she found her husband dead. But now the body is gone. Detective starts finding suspects everywhere, but as soon as he suspects someone, they turn up dead. Who did dun it?
Ghost Child. SciFi futuristic city is enclosed while ancient tribes live off the land outside the castle walls. Royal spacecraft crashes and the only survivor is a child princess. She is found and raised by a remote tribe. 12yrs later, a young architect ventures to the abandoned land with plans to build a new city. He discovers and reveals the princess' real identity. She returns to city life. This girl finds herself an outcast in both worlds and has a lot of trouble adjusting. Plus romance quandary - does she love the architect or her tribal friend?
Ok longest blog ever - I also waffle! Buddy me - look forward to the writing get togethers pancakes or coffe house - all food all good.

Yay for clean forums! Don't you just love the new, fresh forum smell?
I'm Millie. 17 years old, and in year 11 over in Belconnen. I love pancake meet-ups, and I cannot wait to meet everyone again!
Wowzers...I've only just started thinking about my plot. Like you Charmaine, I've had many ideas in my head all year-and I've only just setlled on one. I'm (hopefully, if it all goes to plan) going to write about the kids with superpowers, who have no desire to save the world. It's been fun coming up with lots of useless, but quirky powers to pass off to minor characters. I'm so excited!
Charmaine-I love the idea of Avatar Wave. It's very original, and I would definitely be interested in reading it, if that ends up being the one you choose!
Anyway, best zip up and zip out. I'm just so excited!

Hello all,
I'm Mez, this is the first time I've done this so my main aim is to simply get it done haha. I'm 18 years old and love just about every genre of novel as long as it is well written.
I've finally come up with a plot after about twenty five different idea's came to play so hopefully I can get this done haha.
Here is my plot:
I’ll begin with the basics, my name is Abigail Homes, I am at the prime age of thirty three, I’ve been happily married for five of those years and within that five I have given birth to my two beautiful children. I work alongside my husband as his assistance, which is frowned upon here, so no one knows about our marriage with in the office, it’s not that we are bad people we simply need the money to pay the rent, besides, the sense of danger really brings something back in our love life.
I was living my dream life, you know, the kind that most women envy you over when you have it, I didn’t think anything could go wrong, until she came. This other women…she began to work her devious magic over my husband, she began to turn him on me, he began to push me away, she's trying to get me out of the picture. Now my perfect world is shattering and I’m struggling to piece it together again.
I wish every one the best of luck with their stories xD

Hey!
I'm Lucy...I've just moved to Queanbeyan. First year doing NaNo with no idea what so ever about what I'm going to write or how I'm going to do this on top of studying and settling in to a new home/job. Oh well, life was never meant to be easy!
I'll probably be lurking around the forums most days so feel free to say hi :) and yes, I'm looking for writing buddies :)

Right, here we go...
The name's Kobi, I'm turning 21 during NaNo, and this is my first year. I've known about NaNo since I was 15, however I just never got around to doing anything. I work four days a week and I'm lucky in that I'm taking most of November off, so I'll have plenty of time to scribble (inbetween studying, of course). I originally had two ideas to choose from to do NaNo with, but a third one popped up last night and kept me from sleeping, so who knows what will get written...

Haven't done nano since '06, but always on the forums between nanos. Finally happen to be in the writing mood and have the time this November to do it again!! Doing a children's series this time, 50 k won't cover the first novel, so I need to find plots for the others!!

I'm Loki. This will be my fourth year of NaNoness. I'll be doing night shifts this year so I won't be able to attend any of the meetings. I write mainly Science Fiction and some Satire.
For this year's effort, I will be doing - The Perils of Fugly Bunny.
It's a series of short stories based around the most hideous rabbit in existence and of course his trials and tribulations. All of these stories are going to be mock children's stories. But they're not really child friendly books. They are supposed to be children's stories for adults. Heavy on the Satire and Irony. The stories are as follows.
Fugly Bunny and the Curse:
The internet has come to the town of Rumbly Bottom. Unfortunately, an accident leads to the net to be cut off. Deprived of their new toy, the citizens turn into Zombies. Fugly is forced to find a cure before the town is overrun.
Fugly Bunny and the Invasion:
Rumbly Bottom is invaded by ne'er do wells and undesirables. Will they destroy the town, or will they find a way to live in harmony.
Fugly Bunny and the Darkness:
An energy crisis strikes the town. After a few major problems with the renewable energy solutions, Fugly is hired to restore power to the town once and for all. But even he can't foresee the storm that's brewing.
Fugly Bunny and the Mutant:
A monster has been abducting people and causing trouble in the town. Fugly sets out to find the secret behind the monster before the town's populace can kill the beast.
Fugly Bunny the Star:
Fugly is brought out to Follywood to be the star in a movie. Will he realise every young rabbit's dream? Or is he destined for heartbreak?
Fugly Bunny in Space:
Fugly awakes to find himself in the middle of an alien probing. Unhappy, he vows to return home with his dignity and his back door intact.
The Lament of Fugly Bunny:
Fugly finds love. Is it true love? Who knows?
I'm also still working on the epic Space Opera science fiction novels from NaNo the past 2 years. They've sort of grown out of control and spawned a whole lot of new stories. There is still a lot that needs to be done on them, but they are getting there.

Time for introductions again? I guess I'd better poke my head out of my hermit cave and say howdy once more.
Aiming for my fifth month of mayhem this year, hopefully my fifth win and my fifth unpolished manuscript to sit on my computer and mock me with my lack of editing motivation.
I'm still trying to find a genre that suits me, so every year I try something new. Year one was zombie horror, year two was black comedy. Year three I tried my hand at science fiction, and last year I regurgitated some regency fluff. This year, I'm writing a mid-to-high concept fantasy based on a series of dreams I had. So far, there are no zombies, ninjas or pirates. However, this being NaNo, there is always the chance of all three. Pirates would be a safe bet, and some last minute zombies never hurt.
I've already resolved to visit the forums less this year, as procrastination is not my friend. But I may change my mind. I usually do. And as my partner works nights *pokes Loki* I don't know whether I'll make it to any meetings. But it is lovely to meet you all and/or revisit our previous acquaintance, even if it is only virtually.
Well, back to the research I suppose.

I have ... errr ... half an idea. Which is half an idea more than previous years! Yay!
I'm based in Queanbeyan, so if there's anyone on this side of town who wants to meet up more casually, just send me a message. Failing that, I'll be lurking around the edges at the formal write-ins :)

Hello Everyone!
It is nice to see so many people rearing and ready to go!
I’m Sarah, and 2009 will be my second attempt at nanoing my November away.
I haven’t got a plot as such worked out just yet... Though I have spent the better part of this year getting to know some characters, who I am hoping to introduce to each other in November. Hopefully from there a story of sorts will bloom?!
After my under preparedness last year, I started collecting different ideas from all over the place. With the thought that if all else fails, draw a thought from the hat, and expand....
We’ll see how that one works out hey?! Smiles!

Hi all!
My name is Anni, it's my first NaNo, and I'm excited! At the moment it's just handwritten notes on plot, characters, quirks etc (luddite I know, but if I sat down to type I think I'd just launch into it!) but I'm doing as much prep now so that I'm not stuck TOO much for ideas during the month.
If there was a category of Adventure/Mystery/Thriller/Humour then what I'm planning would jump under that heading, so I'm expecting November to be full of danger, excitement, and chuckles!
I work full time plus a fair bit of overtime, I'm not 100% confident I'll make the 50,000, but that won't be for lack of trying! I'm determined for a win, and figure lunchbreak typing might just get me over the finish line.
I wish you all the best with your writing, and feel free to drop me an encouraging kick in the pants if I'm not reaching that magical average 1600+ words a day!

Hey Everyone,
I'm Kate; this is my fourth NaNo year, and my first in Canberra. I've Nano'ed in Brisbane and Melbourne as well. Everything I write tends to turn into a romance, so I'm just gonna have to go ahead and accept that that's what I'm going to write. This year I'm thinking of trying my hand at something historical...which may require research (*hysterical laughter*)...
I'm getting married on October 31st, so will look forward to write-ins to help me catch up the words I know I won't make November 1st!

Hey guys, I am a Queanbeyan based-will be twenty-one come the day after nano-this year youngster. And I seem to be filling the minority spot from hell for my novel this year, so I won't bore you all with the details. This is my fifth year and hopefully I won't pike out like last year T_T
I've already gotten halfway through my profiles, and am looking to hit the 75k mark for happy awesome power this year!
As I'm a social recluse when it comes to writers not in my genres, I won't be attending the pancake parlor meet and greet (I'm assuming thar will be one as per usual...) but I hope everyone has fun!
Looks like there are a lot of young-ens involved this year, I'm very happy to see this! Go for it guys!

Hello again,
Happy to say that I now have my plot decided:
The Costume Maker
Gypsy woman makes the most beautiful costumes by hand and a spoilt teen treats her rudely and bullies her into making a costume for her. The girl then spots a more special costume that she wants but the gypsy refuses. The girl tries to steal the costume but is caught in the act. The costume maker has powers unknown to humans and can make gowns that whisk you away to her world (medieval, fairies, dragons, etc). She sends the girl there as punishment, but the gypsy's daughter witnesses this. The daughter goes into the fantasy realm to rescue the spoilt girl. Gypsy sends a boy they both like to rescue them. Adventures follow.
Never ever tried to write fantasy. Have problems with 'magic' - spent a good amount of my day trying to find a logical reasons dragons might breath fire, or at least sparks (lots of gas mixes, pressure, oxygen theories). - Will be good for me to let go and just write.
How's everyone else coming with their plot planning? I've expanded mine by listing any events at all that could occur in the story so I can use it when I run out of ideas. As I have the kids and hubby roped into doing this we have little family workshops. We've done plots and characters. Next is an expansion on characters and setting maps.
Cheers all - keep motivated!

Hey Hey. He's back again to fufill the role of writer block. Fourth year attempting it. Hoping for first win. We'll see.
My biggest problem is I can think of all sorts of awesome ideas in my head, but getting them down on pen and paper is just something I haven't mastered. Most of my Nano's start with a cool scenario that's supposed to set the scene in one page...which becomes ten, which becomes so over detailed I've no idea where to go next or has kind of made it impossible to actually do the ending I had planned.
Still. Hopefully I'll get it write soon.
Also, Also. Love the Fugly Bunny ideas Loki. Classic.

Spellcheckers always bother me. I don't think I have ever seen one that got most of it right but still insists that correctly spelly words are incorrect or in the wrong place. Grammar checkers are the worst. Some of the changes I've seen them make turn sentences that I thought might have made a small amount of sense into something else entirely.
I tend therefore to turn them off.

Introductions all around, hurrah! I'm Victoria, and this is (according to my profile) my 5th year of NaNo, which hopefully won't turn into my 5th year of 'boredom after 15k and finding something shiny to distract me for the rest of the month'. That is the hope, anyway.
I have not much of anything to say, except I'm Canberra based (duh, given I'm here), our ML has a totally adorable bub and it's entirely likely that whatever I write this year will focus heavily on zombies. For no particular reason, mind, they just seem a reasonable topic. Beyond that...HI!

So far my plot is pretty much nonexistent, I find I work better if I just let the writing flow. But I am loosely seeing anti-hero, sacrificial, underworld, thieving, murdering mayhem in my not-too-imminent future XD

Hello all!
I'm Jade, sixteen, Kambah, and this would be my third year doing NaNo. I won thanks to some amazing word warring buddies in 2007, but then got rather terribly sick and had to give up on 2008. I still can't quite decide if I'll do NaNo this year (exams don't finish until the 26th, and then I'll probably have to work... opinions?), but I've got a whole stack of wonderful NaNo friends who have been pushing me to join in this year, so it may be on the tables. :) I don't have the foggiest idea of what I'm going to write about, which may also pose it's own set of problems...
Beyond that, you'll usually find me lurking around with that sleazy Melbourne crowd because they have epic parties and that's where most of my friends are. I'm quite happy to cheersquad anyone who would like a forceful voice, however, to prod them along. :)

Hi everyone,
I'm Katrina and this is my second year of NaNo ... if you can count crashing and burning after a few thousand words last year as being a part of NaNo. *sigh*
Anyway, I'm a forty-something Canberraite who's interested in romance, fantasy and SF. I'm an avid reader of fanfiction and I'm almost certain that this year I'll be writing fanfic.
