Are there any write-ins planned yet? How about in Loveland?

At the moment we haven't finalized anything but there will be at least one write-in a week. Last year we had write-ins at Margie's Java Joint on Sundays, socials at a local WriMo's house on Fridays, and Loveland write-ins at Panera on Thursdays.

For anyone who's interested in attending write-ins, feel free to post what times and at what locations you'd like to write. I haven't spoken to Margie's yet but they're usually an excellent place to have write-ins. I'm also talking to the library about options to have write-ins there as well.

And remember - unofficial write-ins are just as awesome as the "official" write-ins. If you're going to be at a certain place at a certain time and want to extend an invitation for people to join you, feel free to post it here or create another thread. I'd be more than happy to add it to the calendar and in the regional emails once I get that all set up.

Will these write-ins ever be, o say after 5:30pm haha. School and NaNo just equal a bad combination unless you can manage time well. I can't. But hopefully I'll learn a thing or two.

Oh yes! We're for sure going to have a write-in at the Farr Regional Library on Saturday, November 7th from 7-10pm. We usually have Friday night socials starting around 7:30, the potential Loveland write-ins are looking like they may be Saturday afternoon or Wednesday evening, and our usual write-ins at Margie's should be at 3:30 on Sunday as long as they don't mind us crashing the place again. I'm a student, too - I know the horrors of trying to balance school and NaNo. It's going to be rough this year because I thought taking 20 credits was a good idea. Hah. We can do it, though!

We also have a tentative date for the Kick-Off Party set for the Sunday before NaNo starts although if there's an overwhelming support of another idea, let me know.

hmm anything is cool for me if its on weekends and the times sound great! I'll be sure to keep a close eye out on when all these meetings are and try and come to some. hmm, by the way i'm only in 9th grade, so I am probably the youngest one here haha

I'll be sure to post a thread with all the event dates as soon as we get them finalized. I'll also send out a regional email with event reminders. :) Don't worry if you're the youngest - you're still more than welcome to come. I started NaNo when I was in 10th grade (and I'm young for my grade so I was probably about your age). Balancing school and homework (no matter the grade) is always a little tricky, but definitely possible.

Howdy,
My name is Peter and I work at the Farr Regional Library. I'm excited to host the write-in on November 7th! Are there any special things that would help? I'm planning to have coffee/tea, and I think we can also set up computer access for those who might not have laptops. Anything else you can think of?

Also, just as a heads-up for anyone interested, the write-in is from 7-10, which leads right into our Cult Movie Night. This month we're showing The Big Lebow$ki. Anyone interested is welcome to stick around and dress in "Dude" attire, of course.

Best,
Pete

I'm sorry this took me so long to reply to! I forgot how busy November can be.

Write-ins are pretty easy. Coffee and tea and laptops are really all you need. I bring a white board to write-ins (I will unfortunately not be able to make it this weekend as I'll be out of town) and have people write down their name, their current word count, and their word count goal. We also do the occasional timed writing session - something between 10 and 15 minutes usually works. For those who want to participate in the timed writing session, the goal is to write as much as possible in that space of time. I've been using an egg timer for those.

Socials on Friday nights at my house! I live a short walk from the Centennial Park Library. Write ins/hanging out/general silliness, all are welcome.

Please do call me and let me know if you're going to show (just so I know if I actually have to pick up that laundry in the bathroom). My cell is 970-222-7215 and my name is Kristi.

I'm not actually writing this year, but I've done nano and supported nano for 4 years now, and I love to meet the insane people who are trying to reach that magical word count.

Hope to meet some new folks and also hope to see some familiar faces again this year.

I thought there was supposed to be a write-in last Sunday at Margie's at eleven, but no one was there. I stayed about forty-five minutes, then went home. Somehow, my question about this posted in List of Events, never got answered. Will there be a write-in there Sonday?

There will definitely be a write-in on Sunday! Socials at a local WriMo's house will be held on Fridays (except for Black Friday). I'm back in town and I'll be able to attend the rest of the events for the season so there shall be at least one person at each event now. :)

Hi Everybody,
This is Pete from the Farr Regional Library. I just wanted to give you an update on our last write-in and promote our next one (Saturday November 21st 4-6). We had a smallish turnout, but we had a pretty good time. One of the folks running the event is not Nanowrimo-ing this year, but is working on comps for grad school. So, for the first hour we estimated her word count and the person who was closest won a prize (one of four books we bought). During the second hour, we all tried to match our word count, and the loser drank a strange concoction (mountain dew, coffee, Earl Grey, and a pumpernickel slice from Check Mix was marinated inside). She took it like a champ.
Anyway, the point is we had a really good time and I hope to see you all here on the 21st! We'll have drawings for the 3 remaining books, snacks, motivation, and don't worry, we won't make you drink any weird "beverages."

Coolness. I should be able to make this weekend's events, tho I seemed to have at least double (if not triple) booked myself tonight. I am looking forward to seeing other NaNoWrimos...it's been a tough few weeks for me, so some socializing will be nice. :)
