Site says we have some 85 people in our area, with slightly over a quarter of them new faces. So introduce yourselves!
I'm Maeve, your municipal liaison. That means I find the meeting places and get things started. This will be my sixth year doing NaNoWrimo. I'm hooked. *grin*
I come from a background in public relations, newspaper, magazine and freelance writing. My NaNo novels have been in either the fantasy and thriller genres. I'm revising two of them with an eye to trying to sell them (although that's not the point of NaNoWrimo. If NaNoWrimo has a point, it's to show you what you can accomplish if you try. A novel! In 30 days!)
Heck, I can do it, so can you.
So who are you and what do you write?

Remember -- no matter how many or how few words bleed from your fingertips, by Nov. 30 you'll have written more of a a novel than most people write in a lifetime. Keep writing! Because darn it, it's fun!

I'm Masamage! This is my third year of writing, and I am super looking forward to it. :D I'm a Corvallisite with a crazy-supportive husband, and I almost have a degree in English. (OSU keeps suddenly discovering classes I still need to take at a rate of one per term.)
My novels are fantasies. The first was a pretty good rewrite of the Rapunzel story; the second was something terrible I came up with by myself. This year I will be writing entirely about dwarves, and I have high hopes for it, although/because I have no idea what the story will be about. I have a pretty cool city worked out, though.
Looking forward to seeing everyone around! :D

Hi Everyone! I'm Miriamele, though my actual name is Andrea.. people still call me Miri in person half the time, so ya know, whatever works for you. : ) I have a background in history and a love of reading and writing. Of the NaNo Novels that I have attempted to write, 2 were fantasies and 1 was a romance/comedy. Fantasy is my favorite genre, yet the Romance went far better than the fantasy ones did. Go figure. I'm writing a fantasy novel again this year. I have it a little more planned out though, so here's hoping for success at last!
I'm living in Corvallis but working in Albany so I feel like I'm all over the darn place. Up for write-ins if anyone is interested! : )

----------I'm Charles. This is my second year of NaNo. Last year i wrote about an oppressive government and genetic selection. it was really fun. i tried to edit it a few times, but i found myself wanting to just throw the whole thing away, so i gave it to a friend to edit. this year i have a few different ideas, so i'm not quite sure what i'm going to do. but i suppose it's better than last year, when i found out about NaNo via stumbleupon around oct. 15, then decided to check it out on the 30th. I'm an English major technically, but i'm soon to transfer to Nuclear engineering. this year i'm going to try to go to some write-ins, as last year i missed them all.

Hello everyone,
I'm Mark. This will be my 4th Nano. Out of the first three Nano's I have a sci-fi manuscript in final edit I've pitched 3 times (and gotten nibbles but no bites) and an anthology of short stories, several of which have been in contests to no avail. This year I am changing up and writing a memoir. I have finally gotten over the "no one will want to read about that" issues. It doesn't really matter if anyone reads it. Writing is an end unto itself. Publication is just icing on the cake and don't any of you ever forget that. Writers write! We are artists. It is not a business. It is a passion. Be passionate! (This pep talk brought to you by too much caffeine. 8P)

Hi everyone, I'm Ardyth!
This will be my sixth year doing Nanowrimo and my second year in Corvallis (my husband is attending school). Previously I've been in Salem, OR (2 years), El Paso, TX (1 year), and Everett, WA (1 year). I write children and YA literature in a variety of forms, mainly: fantasy, mainstream, animal, humor/satire, and this year am planning a children's science fiction story. My 2006 Nanowrimo winner "Chosen Sister " is available as an e-book from Wild Child Publishing. The editors there were terrific and I'm thrilled to see it come out this year, it was released just in January. Also, the cover they did for me is absolutely fantastic. I originally wrote the book as a Christmas gift for my baby sister.
I usually do two novels since kid's books tend to be shorter, (one year I tried three, but only two of them won and I haven't been _that_ crazy again) but I just got a rewrite request from an agent, so I need to spend most of the next couple of months rewriting large sections of one of my other nano-novels and so am going for only 50K this year. Last year I was really proud to top 100K.
I love Nanowrimo and I'm very excited for November. :D

Hello, Corvallis NaNoers!
I just transferred to OSU from Portland and am working on a degree in English with a possible French minor, just to ensure I'll be living in a box. This will be my fourth attempt at NaNo, after failing miserably for 3 years running. This time, however, I'm not working 40 hours a week on top of going to school full time, so I have high hopes of doing much better this year. (Though I love all my free time, anyone hiring around OSU?)
I just realized I had a plot for NaNo 3 days ago and am actually pretty psyched about it. Now I just need to, you know, make it good. Woo hoo!

Morning all! I live, work, and go to school in Corvallis. This is my third year doing NaNoWriMo. It's also the first year that I haven't a clue what I'm going to write about. I've got a few ideas floating around, but nothing really seems novel-length.
I've always meant to go to some of the write-ins, but something inevitably came up. I'm more centrally located in town now, so maybe I'll pop in to one or two.

Hello! I'm getting around to this introduction a little late, but it's better than no introduction at all. My name is Alyx, and I'm an English student at OSU. This is my second year doing NaNo; hopefully it will be my second victory as well! Last year I did a fantasy story. It was a rather dark twist on the Frog Prince story, although I haven't quite finished it yet. I have to admit that I feel a bit guilty about not completing it, but I'm taking my time on it because I would like to send it out to publishers one day. My guilt is outweighed by my excitement for my NaNo novel this year, though! I'm going to write a sci-fi. I think that will about do it for an introduction, and I look forward to seeing some of you at the OSU write-ins!

Dang, so many English majors. :D Hi, guys! It's the most fun!
Also, I saw reasonably_crazy mention elsewhere that she's in Bella Voce! That is awesome. I was in there for four years myself. :)

Ooh! You were in Bella Voce, Masamage? YAY! It's so fun! Crazy intense this year; we basically have two and a half weeks to learn three songs by Eric Whitacre (one of which is entirely in Hebrew) so we can perform WHILE ERIC WHITACRE CONDUCTS. *DOOM* Awesome doom, though.
You're right. So many things ARE awesome. :D

Hello fellow writers-
I just joined the Nano project and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. This is my first attempt at a novel in many years. I have been a career journalist and painter for a good part of my adult life and have recently relocated to Corvallis on a new adventure. I have my BA in Creative Writing from the College of Santa Fe and have been writing stories since I was nine years old.
I don't have any idea what I'll be writing about, but if I've learned anything about our craft over the years it's that the writing will take care of itself as long as I SHOW up. LOL. Looking for to Ready, Set, Go! with y'all...

Hi all,
My username is Gaudior (from Madeleine L'Engle's A Swiftly Tilting Planet) and my real name is Melissa. This is my second try at NaNo; I got so busy with work last year (I'm a freelance editor) that I had nothing left over for writing. I hope to manage that better this year.
I haven't a clue what I'm going to write yet, but I'm working on the pre-work suggestions from No Plot? No Problem!, a book I highly recommend. I have not written much fiction in years (and then only short stories) but have a Masters from OSU in English (rhetoric and writing). I'm not sure how many write-ins I'll get to, since I tend to be more of a day person, but I hope to meet at least some of you!

Hey all, I'm Kaity. This is my first NaNoWriMo, and I have my sister Christina to thank for what I'm sure will be an interesting month! I've written one novel before, but it remains in a binder in my bedroom until I figure out what to do next. I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to write about this time, but I'm looking forward to the challenge!

Hi there, I'm Scott. Living in Corvallis and working at OSU.
This is my third try, after coming close-but-no-cigar in 2007 and 2008. I pretty much stick to the mystery/suspense genre and will do the same this year.
Here's to a fast start!

Hi, I'm Nate. I moved back to Corvallis in September and am still looking for a job while I apply to grad schools. I have an idea for a novel I've been kicking around in my head for the last couple years. It is now time to get to the keyboard, and since I have no job but looking for a job, I hope to put a significant chunk of my schedule next month into writing.
I hope to make it out to a number of write-ins and get a serious draft of this thing finished. It will be good to have a semi-structured and scheduled activity to focus on this month that isn't as depressing as hunting for jobs. It will be a different sort of challenge, and I'm excited about it.

Hey, all. I'm Charles, a freshman in Mechanical Engineering at OSU. I've had a bit of interest in writing ever since I couldn't contain my story ideas to the two page requirement for English class throughout high-school. This is my second year at Nano. Unfortunately, last year wasn't too spectacular. Hopefully this year'll go a bit better.
