I know, isn't it awesome? All I feel like doing is snuggling up with my laptop and typing away! :-)

Yes! Doesn't it just sound lovely---being out in the cold and the damp, and then coming home and building up a roaring fire, piling on the blankets, making a cup of tea/cocoa/chai, and writing to your heart's content? :D I'm way excited!

Ready, Set, It's almost time again. Time to make a mess of a story; and a mess of this house, because, it'll be my wife and son and me too, overworking our muses. And like you all, we are looking for an Oregon November of overcast and darkness and rainy days.

Sounds great. Nothing better than snuggling up by the heater, listening to the rain pounding on the roof, and writing away. :)

Do we have an ML yet? We're still on the list of those lacking, although that's as of 9/25. Anybody planning on being official or unofficial ML? It'd be nice to have some write-ins in the GP area this year.

Just had an oddball write-in fantasy. Assuming everyone is writing on laptops.
The scene: Lithia Park, or possibly even get permission to do it in the Globe Theater. All get together on the final day, Nov. 30, and finish our novels simultaneously in the shadow of the Bard. Kind of like synchronized noveling.
Sorry, October always gets the old idea hamster running in his wheel, churning out fantasies.
I'll be interested in attending any write-ins.

Of course, Turotulco, some people will probably have finished by then.

Hello,
My name is Cyrus, and this is my second NaNoWriMo. I might be moving back to Southern Oregon soon and I'm looking forward to participating in this wonderful event.
Thanks.

Hi:
I've managed to get a synopsis and three chapters done this summer. I think if I divided my word count by the hours I spent on the project it would come out at about ten words an hour....
Hoping NaNoWriMo gets me moving a little faster...

Now Kate, (in all sarcastic funnin') I think that the Nanowrimo Revised Statutes are set in stone at the Nano Tower in Oakland. If, however, starting before November's first Midnight is an addendum in the copy you received, our knees just might jerk in response. It might also be followed by involuntarily throwing my hands to my hips and a producing that tight/straight-lipped frowny face. Now one moment while I go get the handbook, 'No Plot ? . . . ". Let's see; Shady Character?... Wrong page. Making Bets?... No that's not it. Where is that page on...anyways, I can't find it. Besides, I'm in the middle of writing a message. What I am trying to say is, I think your suppose to keep such evidence a secret. But I can't help but wonder how Stephen King must laugh at us Nanos, when, he must write 2,000 words every morning, before lunch, everyday.

@ Turo: That fantasy write-in sounds absolutely fantastic. If only, if only, right?
First year officially participating in NaNoWriMo (I usually just use November as an excuse to put in ungodly hours on my other projects) and I can't wait. November can't come soon enough.

Dave:
Actually my synopsis and three chapters will be set aside for November. The story needs a rest after a summer of supreme effort producing next to nothing...Maybe my muse genie is trying to tell me something.
I've got book number two in mind for NaNoWriMo and nothing written down in advance except for this absolutely wild love scene which is currently residing in whats left of my mind. I'm wondering if I could start with the love scene and just kind of hope some kind of story grows out of it?
As for Stephen King. He's truly amazing. I enjoy his storys and his writing style, except when he uses 2,000 words just to describe a tree. I've usually got the picture at about 100 words and the rest is filler. Hummmm, wonder if its possible to write a 50,000 word love scene?

@ Turo: God, I would absolutely love that! It would actually be very fitting.
My name's Brianna. This is my first year of doing this. I've always been so up tight about my writing, I'm hoping this will be a good chance to get over it.
I'm so excited! I'm also thrilled about how many people in the valley are doing this!
I wish you all the best.
Oh, speaking of Stephen King. How many of you have read his book "On Writing"? It's his 'how to write' book, I supposed. We had to read it for a writing class when I was in high school, and it was great. I suggest it for anyone who hasn't read it, if only for his humor!

Yes Turo! The Write-In at Lithia Park sounds awesome. Just hope it isn't raining.
On Writing is a good book. You're right Brianna we should all read it.
I’m tripping out. I’ve been writing here in Riverside, CA for about two years. I’ve gotten hooked in down here and I’m helping to promote NaNoWriMo this year in SoCal. However, I’m moving back to Oregon in about a week. Right when NaNoWriMo starts. So, I’ve joined this group as well. In cyberspace you can truly be at two places at once. This is great . . .

I'm surprised to see all of the writers from the rogue and such here. It's really cool. I too will be doing it this year, I'm a senior at GPHS. I hope everyone does their best and reaches their expectations, heck, even do better than that! We can do it. :]

hey out there. I am checking in on all of the interesting ideas for write-ins and such. I do not even begin to think that I would be able to attend one as my schedule is backwards. But I will draw strength from the comments of others. About Stephen King, I am definitely one of his biggest fans when it comes to the 'no rules' style that I learned could be okay. But I came away from the 'On Writing' book doubting myself as a writer. I felt that because I do not sleep, breathe, eat writing, I am not really a writer. I enjoy writing, but am a bit distractable and have other responsibilities. I do prefer other writing books such as 'Bird By Bird' by Anne Lamott (my real hero) and 'Zen In The Art Of Writing' by Ray Bradbury. Any thoughts. Good luck everyone.
