Getting the word war challenges out. This one's going to our arch nemesis: North Bay.
* Most words as a region
* Most words per member
* Most words top 10 members
Winning team chooses a song for the losing team's ML (and any volunteers) to sing & record for the viewing of the winning team.
Let me know if you have a counter-offer, or if you'd like to do any other sort of challenge. I know it really spurred my region on last year, so I'm sure it'll help us both reach new heights.

Had a bit of back and forth with Sparky, in the end the challenge has been accepted (partially). Follow the convo below:
She replied:
I like it, but I'm going to have to run it by my co-ML, Janis, before I say yes or no. Most words as a region probably wouldn't work, as your region is technically bigger than ours, so you'd be a guarenteed win (sneaky, though! haha!). Winner based on most words in top 10 would be pretty good though!
Like I said, I'll run it by Janis, and bring it up at the meet/greet... I'm sure my writers will be interested.
Cheers! :)
So I said:
You outmanned us last year, but it looks like we're ballooning this time, so I can totally see killing the total words idea. Good to hear you have a co-ML this year. That's got to take a lot of pressure off. I know I've been running around like mad trying to get things setup this year and trying to give it a big push. Let me know which way Janis falls. My team is already gearing up to go against Southern NY, but the more the merrier, especially when it comes to long-time rivalries like Sudbury / North Bay.
Good luck with your setup Sparky! Hope NaNo erupts for you this year!

And eventually she said:
Sounds like we're in! Just let me know how you want to go in terms of judging the outcome.
Cheers!
So I celebrated by saying:
Good to hear that North Bay's in. We're excited about the prospect of continuing from last year's word count win (and Sudbury's only win against NB so far). Since you're worried about the total word count thing, let's go with the most words in the top 10 of our writers.
The deal:
Most words in top 10 writers verified and set NB / Sudbury as home region on Dec 2nd, 2009. ML from each region is responsible for submitting the user name of their "top 10" to the opposing region by the end of Dec 2nd or forfeit. As the word count is listed in the status bar, that makes finding the top 10 easy from the limited number that will be homed (theoretically). Both MLs will come to the same total overall, and a winner / loser will be declared on both team's forums.
The ML(s) and any volunteers of the team with the lower word count from top 10 writers will record themselves singing a song of the winning team's choice, post it to YouTube, and post the web address on the winning team's forum as a part of its own topic.
Sound fair to you? I think it's simple and straight-forward enough without killing anyone's inbox.

Dear Sudburians.
IT IS I!!! SparkyintheSnow, the ML from North Bay, the Gateway to the North.
I just wanted to drop you a line, check in, see how things are going, and mention that one of our wrimo just sent me a message to let me know...
That she just hit 50K.
Yeah. Srsly. She hit 50 000 words. It's legit, I promise.
So, still feeling confident about this whole war thing, or did you want to maybe forfeit now? Hahahahaha!
With love and smashy-smashies,
Lacey. :)

Good to know our poking of the sleeping bear is rousing it from its slumber. Good luck North Bay.
Anyone want to start suggesting songs to make their ML sing on YouTube?

So we're a week away, and it's fully possible that either side could win this one since it's based on the top 10.
In the meantime, let's start preparing for when we win. So Sudbury, what should we get Sparky to sing? I'm thinking "Barbie Girl" because she's totally not... But I could go with just about anything really. Suggestions?

Cool, when is this taking place? Now that I have a twitter I can join up with you guys. Also, Barbie Girl is a good idea for a song for them to sing- WHEN WE CREAM THEM!- maybe It's Raining Men? That would be equally as embarassing. I know I would be embarassed. Or, you could pick something slightly evil - like Sucks to Be You by Prozak (sp?).
Anyway, I'm all for sprints when I get home from school tonight, if that's when it is. See you then!

Okay, so it's not nearly as fun as the other one's mentioned so far, but I think the Beatles - Paperback Writer would be apropos.
