Getting to know all about you!
If you have a chance, please poke in and say hello, give us a little information about you and what drew you to the WriMo. I'll start!
On the WriMo site, I am DeAubreyDigest. My pen name is Maki (pronounced like the mouse) and I am a second year WriMo. This year I am a first year Municipal Liason, which means I am your go to person with questions about the WriMo, the person who holds write-ins for the Black Swamp area and the cheerleader for your word counts. I'm here to not only crank out my novel, but also to help all of you and maybe hold a fundraiser to help out the lovely people who put on the WriMo every year.
I first heard about the NaNoWriMo in its first year from someone I met via a chat program. I found him well into November, however, and didn't remember about the WriMo the next year. It was 2003 before I heard about it again from another participant and said there was no way I would be able to bang out a novel in a month, mostly because I only wrote when I was inspired. Ah, youth! I had all the time in the world to write! It wasn't until 2007 when my friend Faestian told me about the WriMo again that I made a conscious effort to remember for 2008. I wanted to win at least once. When xe reminded me the next year, I began my novel in 2008, the year and month of my 30th birthday, just after I had graduated from massage therapy school, was working two jobs and while I was studying to take my state board exam for massage therapy on December 2nd.
Believe it or not, I met my word goals, managed to study for boards and PASS and kept my sanity. Mostly.
Okay, so what about all of you? Who are you, what do you do? What drew you to WriMo?

Hey there!
Even though I'm not in the 30 mile radius, I figure the 13+ years I spent there still grants me some cred :p Lets see... I discovered the NaNoWriMo a few years back... sometime after 2001 I think? It was well past a time where I could even manage, but I congratulated my writer friend who had accomplished the feat with something pretty damned good. Skip forward a few years due to my infamously poor timing skills. My friend and I had one year managed to complete the challenge, each with 50k a piece on a joint effort, but by myself I think it was 2006 and 2007. 2008 was a mess, lets just not even go there.
What brings me here is you, Maki. (Im)moral support :p
...s'all I got.

Ello! Maki got me to do this last year and it was the greatest suck tastic thing I have ever done and I m looking forward to doing it again. I ve lived in Findlay the past 3 years, before that it was in North Baltimore(gags) for about 5 years and before THAT it was BG for school stuff lol. I m orginally from a lil town between Dayton and Cinci.
----------I have some good dieas for a novel but all of them seem to blend into one after a while, so doing this helps my brain to develop each one as its own story. Its like mental typing vomit for me lol.
Hope to see ya ll when ever we have a meet up!

Hey all. This is my second year doing Nano. I found out about it via the community on YouTube, and decided to try it last year to see if I could actually finish something I start . . . something I still struggle with. I hit the 50,000 word quota, but never actually finished the story, so this year I'm making that my goal. I love the supportive community of Nano, and I'm looking forward to working with it again. I was a part of the Ashland region last year, but this year I'm at BGSU working for a Masters degree in Music Education . . . which is going to make it interesting trying to write 1667+ words a day, but I'm gonna do it anyway!

Hey everyone! Findlay is the place I currently call home. And when I say currently, I mean the last 10 years of my life. Haha.
I'm a hardcore NaNo-er and besides that, I am a runner (yeah, I'm the weirdo you see out running in 40 degree weather,) I blog (see signature, hint hint) and I LOVE to use parentheses! (No seriously, I need help. :P)
I'm excited for the meetups and all. I will have to miss the first one do to a work conflict but fear not, I shall make the second!
This years NaNo will be less dramatic than last year for me. I wrote a mildly religious/scifi/horror novel last year and it was exhausting. My main character was a bit of a nut job. This year will be a bit more light hearted and far less planned.
Can't wait! Yay Blackswampers!

Hey everyone!
For my first three NaNos, I called Findlay home. It was unfortunate, since so few people entered, but it sufficed. As of now, I'm lurking in Athens at Ohio University but when winter break rolls around, I'll definitely be back home and I will most likely be able to join you for a write-in and the TGIO party, if there is one.
I'm really happy that people are deciding to do it this year, at least more openly instead of lurking on the forums. Much thanks to you, DeAubrey, for being a legit ML when my half-assed attempts last year failed. :D
I did my first NaNo my sophomore year when classes were pretty easy and I loved me some study halls. I dominated that year. The next year was a little less lucky, with me submitting my final word count FIVE MINUTES before midnight. Last year was probably my best and favorite year, as I am still working on the story and I hope to eventually get it published because I honestly love it to death. It's probably the best thing I've ever written, in my humble opinion.
This is going to be interesting. I'm formulating my novel around four fortunes from those fortune cookies we all know and love. I plan on using 10k words for each fortune and wrapping everything up in the final 10k. What will really be difficult for me is that I have no idea what genre to make this nor do I really know how I'm going to balance my writing time with school.
I be excited. :D

Your attempts were much appreciated last year, love. You tried to get us out of the woodwork and doing something, but with me trying to get done with school and study and do boards I just had to squeeze in time when I had it and unfortunately I could never meet up with you. I know Mer was going to go and ended up screwing up her ankle and couldn't make it and with life being frigging crazy we just never met up.
Your attempts were at least something that got me thinking about MLing when I looked on the board and hadn't seen that you had applied. I believe it was your first year in the WriMo when you came into George House and asked about donating something for it and it was me you handed the letter to.
Regardless, you are more than welcome and I am more than happy to do it.
Then again, we'll see how I feel about it next year. LOL

Hello! This is my second year doing NaNo (I attempted last year and failed miserably) though I just joined the site this year. I don't know how this will go with school being as crazy as it is right now, but we'll see. Hopefully I'll get through it. I've started several novels, but never finished any of them. I'm hoping to get one done this year. And then maybe it'll be easier to finish others. Good luck everyone!

I'm Angela (which is not my pen-name, but it's what I answer to in real life, so we'll go with that). Second year attempting Nanowrimo. Last year was my first year and it ended in a flameout due to poor planning and sudden illness. This year I should be doing more prewriting to stave this off, but how much prewriting have I done yet? NONE.
Anyway, I'm actually in the Lima area, but that apparently makes y'all my home region. Maybe I'll make it to a meet-up. Maybe. (There's nothing like in-person word wars to get me actually writing.)

I would like, since Lima is on the far range of our limits, is to maybe have another ML in the Lima area to hold write-ins and meetups. Lima is around 32 miles from us, so just outside of the range, but since we ended up with Ada from previous years, that's why I lumped it in. Lima is a pretty far drive from Findlay, IMHO.
We're doing online write-ins, too, so if that's a little more up your alley, I'll be hanging in on those.
I know there are other Lima participants so I'm all for sharing the area, too. Especially since we'll have a north and south border write-ins. We'll just have to see what this year holds!

Hey all,
I'm in Elmore, OH... not quite w/in your 30 mile radius, but truly in the heart of the Great Black Swamp! I'm an out-of-work IT guy who is looking for a job, and having fun raising my almost 11 month old baby girl.
I have a BA in English from BGSU, and have started down the path of writing something "major" several times, but never got past the first few weeks. Hopefully, NaNoWriMo will give me the motivation to keep plugging away.
Thanks all! This sounds like it should be a lot of fun!

Hmmmm, what shall I say...
First off I go by Miles as a writer. I am a writer. Amazingly enough, I've been with Nano since 2006, but I keep changing my login name every year. This is mostly impart due to Nano not letting us change our screen names. Anyhoo...I'm going to participate again. I've never actually finished one of these yet. I consider life very important and if I have the time to do it, I'm going to get it done. However, I'm going through many life changing events as of recent and am looking forward to moving during Wrimo month. I may end up in the wrong state, so I may end up switching groups in the long run. Or at least regions...
I love the scary, creepy and horror genre. I am a suspense writer and am very good at what I do. I am mostly a journal/essay/blog writer. I have a knack for pulling you into my words and not letting go until the very end. One of these years I'm going to be able to finish the Wrimo contest. but until then I'm just going to keep trying.
Just because I don't have all the time in the world doesn't mean I won't help out as well. If anyone needs any help with writing or help with coming up with ideas, by all means do ask. I don't have a resume', but when it comes to ideas and writing I like to consider myself at the top of my game.

this is my first yr. I was hoping to be at the meeting tomorrow, first to meet everyone and second to run over to Hoytville and see my sister LOL
I live in Sidney..thats above Dayton on 75
I ran across this while researching for classes for my Personal chef business.
I work part time in Georgia..long drive but has been worth the effort for the last 5 yrs.
Even though Nov is my busy month, between work in GA( which is why I won't be there tomorrow or next week) and Tday dinner ( on 22nd here) for the family( I do all the cooking of 100 dishes from scratch which the kids pretty much haul home afterwards unless I grab something before I serve it) and making 22 afghans with a hand loom and then crocheting it together( I am a moron but the grandson asked for one so everyone has to have one) for Christmas...
I decided to write, tired of people telling me I should write one, tired of having more than one roll around my head. Lousy at setting aside time to write SOOOOOOO, deadline..good, word count...good...and since I complete what I start...good
remind me of that when I while I don't have anything to write LOL
have fun...eat ice cream for me....

Currently I am going to school at BGSU but am from a town not too far away from BG. I'm a sophomore and studying creative writing. This is my first year with NaNo and I am really excited about it. I found out about it on the internet and thought I would give it a shot.

You are my second home for nanowrimo even though I currently live in Richmond, Virginia. I grew up in BG and went to elementary school, junior high, high school and to BGSU before leaving for grad school in Charlottesville, VA. So I've put in my time (and then some) within 30 miles of Findlay and am very curious about the wrimos in the Black Swamp area.
My daughter got me interested in Nanowrimo and I first heard of it last year. She started a very interesting time travel novel set in Scotland. It was a sort of Brigadoon meets Dr. Who, which she stopped working on after about 8000 words. It was such a cool idea and I hope she gets back to it one day. I was intrigued by the whole concept and wondered if I could finish a novel. This past summer I took a writing class as part of my master's degree and I absolutely loved it. I was writing all night many nights and just couldn't stop. At the end of the class, I suffered withdrawal pains and have looked for writing groups and have also been writing on my own in the past few months, just to feed the craving. Then I remembered Nanowrimo and have been anxiously waiting for it to begin.

I am a NEWBIE! First time doing NaNo... I was introduced to it from a friend and I was intrigued. I work full time as an account clerk, have five kids, sit on band booster, school board, am the recording secretary for my Labor Union and am married to my best friend. He still makes me laugh every day.
I love to write, I just find a million and one excuses not to do so! When my friend told me about NaNo, I thought WHY NOT?!
So here I am- trying my hand at this and just praying that I have fun with it.
Sadly, I will not be able to make the write-ins... as if my hectic schedule wasn't enough against me, I have to have surgery on November 11! No worries though, I am determined to do this! So far I have done OK 5700 words down and that doesn't include what I do tonght.
I am not good at this intro stuff, so I will close by saying my name's Anna, my children's first initials really do spell out BRAAT (Bailey, Robert, Aaron, Alexander and Taylor- not in birth order), and I live south of Findlay.
