Since this thread was deleted when the forums were removed, I figured I'd start it again! Here's your place to introduce yourselves and tell a little about who you are and why you NaNo...

Alias/Name: Rae/Rachel, you can call me either of those!

Age/Age Group: I am currently 22 years old and fit nicely in the college-age group. (I added the age group in case people don't want to specify their ages!)

Area: I would probably fit in the West Knoxville category if you had to call it that.

Novel Genre: I'm writing fantasy this year and have a whole story planned out. Feel free to check my novel info for more details!

Interest in NaNo: I consider myself a writer despite not pursuing any type of writing-related field in college. So my interest is partially born out of a desire to hone my skills and partially out of the need to expend my imaginative nature (due primarily to being an only child and reading too much).

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: My birthday is Halloween, so I'll be turning 23 right in time to begin NaNo-ing like crazy on Nov. 1.

Note: Please feel free to use the above categories to introduce yourself or create your own! I just thought those would be some fun items to throw out to get the ball rolling!

My name is Emily and I'm recently 21. I'm a senior in college, graduating this December!! As far as area, I'm originally from Memphis, and since coming to college I've lived on campus, in Bearden, and in West Knoxville. I currently live in north-ish Knoxville. This year I'm trying my hand at horror--specifically a ghost story. Although I lack much talent in any specific area, I use writing, painting, and horseback riding as creative outlets. Horses are my true love, and hopefully next spring I'll be off to Lexington, KY to help with foaling season in Thoroughbred country! I have a Thoroughbred of my own that I keep out in New Market named Dancer. Don't ask me about him unless you really want to hear!! I'm very proud of my baby :)

Hello! I'm Alison and I'm in my thirties. I'm new to this region, having just moved from the cold snowy north. I live in the West Knox area with my family. I am a stay at home mom and would love to meet other stay at home moms who are also participating this year. I've been writing since grade school and have always wanted to pursue writing as a career. I've focused on short stories for a very long time and now would like to work on a novel.

Novel Genre: I imagine my novel to be 80% mainstream and 20% literary but I guess I won't know for sure until I'm more into the story.

Fun/random fact about me: If a writing career isn't in the cards for me then I'd like to be a roller derby girl.

Best wishes and happy writing!

Alias/Name:Sara

Age/Age Group:31

Area: Alcoa, Maryville area, (is that east Knoxville?) I am new to the area so still trying to figure out where everything is. I am from Atlanta originally

Novel Genre:I am thinking it is going to fantasy, I have two (YA Fantasy and YA/Adult Paranormal romance) plots and characters planned just have not narrowed it done yet

Interest in NaNo: I have always enjoyed writing but not until I was bitten by Twilight seris did I start writing again. I started off by writing fanficton, in all of my favorite authors worlds. I then woke up one day realizing what a waste it is is. I have awesome ideas, or so reviewers tell me, that I felt I needed to venture out. Last year was my first year and I thought it was a crazy and not possible! But I realized it is very much so possible. I am wanting and would like to be published one day, but for now I will take the title of unpublished author. I have had a few agents read my last years manuscript with wonderful rejections on how to improve, so at least I am moving in a good direction.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I have no LIFE!! Seriously! I own my own resturant and literally I fell married to it.

Age/Age Group: I am a 19yo college freshman.
Area: I live on UT campus.
Novel Genre: I plan on writing a historical fiction. I've done a couple of these on my own in the past for school, and it was some of my favorite projects. So now I am doing it on something that interests me.
Interest in NaNo: I have only written children/short stories, but have been wanting to rite a couple novels. This was the perfect opportunity to get it started.
Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I plan on moving to Europe semi-permanently after I finish my doctorate. I am working on my bachelor's right now so this is defintely pretty far away, but you can pretty much count on me visiting a lot in the next few years.

Alias/Name: Kelsone, Kelsy, Marissa, Rissa-- I answer to a lot of things

Age: Just turned eighteen

Area: East Knox, a Karns kid

Novel Genre: Undecided right now, though probably leaning more towards fantasy

Interest in NaNo: My writing 'career' started a few years back when my friend asked me to write with her. Now I'm obsessed. This'll be my second year at Nano and I hope this year I don't just win, I actually finish the novel. I'm horrid with putting on an ending.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: Besides being born on a Friday the Thirteenth? Um, I talk to my characters probably more than is healthy and at times seriously consider being a traveling hobo type.

----------

Evil characters have kidnapped me into my own mind and then threw in pink bunnies. Save me.

Age/Age Group: 19, I'll be 20 in December.

Area: UT Campus...in my dorm room!

Novel Genre: I'm not sure yet. I've not done much plotting. I'm going to just start writing and see where I get.

Interest in NaNo: I saw the link on a website and absolutely fell in love with it. I've been waiting for this since July! Hahaha. I just hope I can finish. I am a super busy college kid with 18 hours.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I work in Hodges Library, and I hate the textures of most vegetables. I love randomly colored ink pens, and my life's goals are to write books full time!

I'm a student at the University of Tennessee where I'm finishing prerequisites to declare a double major in journalism and English with a concentration in creative writing. I love the internet, coffee, words, and books!

Name: Brittany

Age: 22

Area: UT campus, East Knox (Halls) most weekends

Novel Genre: Probably going with fantasy yet again this year, unless I decide to do that scifi-ish fairy tale retelling.

Interest in NaNo: I've been doing NaNo since high school, and I love having a month where I simply have to sit down and work on my original projects, which usually get completely ignored in favor of homework. I've crashed and burned pretty badly the past few years because of homework anyway, but it's still a lot of fun!

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I have slightly less homework this year, as far as I can tell, which means I might actually get more than 5,000 words this time!

Alias/Name: Danielle

Age/Age Group: 25

Area: South Knoxville area. I'm living with my fiance on his parent's property and it's pretty rural out here.

Novel Genre: This is my first NaNo so I figured I'd start with fantasy since that's what I read most of the time.

Interest in NaNo: I came across the link on a blog I started reading so I thought I'd check it out. I've been writing off and on since I was about 8 years old, but never really finished anything. I thought this might be the perfect excuse to actually finish what I start.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I originally lived in Minnesota, but moved here in Aug. '06 to be with my now fiance whom I met online.

Alias/Name: Kat, but feel free to call me Katarina, because it's my Star Trek name. (That is kind of a joke.)

Age/Age Group: 20, but 21 before NaNo starts, third year in college.

Area: UT campus, baby!

Novel Genre: After a long time spent with historical fiction and science fiction, I'm writing an adventure novel this year in what should be termed a fantasy world but it more like an alternate reality because there's no magic. Yet.

Interest in NaNo: I'm one of those people who see themselves intrinsically as writers. Did it last year and it kept me sane and I had a blast, so I figured I'd give it another go. ;)

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: Besides the fact that I have my very own Star Trek name and an LotR quote in my signature? I'm giving a speech this week on how to be a geek. I am clearly qualified.

Age: Seventeen!

Area: Farragut-i-an

Novel Genre: *grins* Fantasy, of course. Something with cute vampire guys, pretty swords, elves, and lots of explosives.

Interest in NaNo: I've written stuff since, um, forever. I was really little when I decided I wanted to be a writer. *laughs* I even pestered my best friend until she started writing with me. I have yet to finish anything. But this years NaNo will be my turning point!

Fun and/or Random facts about me: I often get into debates with my characters over their reality (or lack thereof)

Alias/Name: Daniel, or D-Son. Whichever you prefer.

Age: 23

Area: I live in Powell, but most of the time I'm in West Knoxville since that's where all of my friends are.

Genre: I'm writing sci-fi/cyberpunk this year. It's more of a run of the mill sci-fi story, but with some cyberpunk elements. We'll see what happens there.

Interest in NaNo: I've always enjoyed writing, and I read like a madman in my spare time. I'm trying to improve my writing ability since my chosen career field is very writing centric.

Fun facts: I'm studying to be a cinematographer/director of photography, but my plan after graduating is to move to Japan and teach English. I'm going to work with a missionary in my off time, essentially doing what I majored in for free.

Interest in NaNo: I love writing books. Though I've never finished NaNo in 30 days, I always finish my novels, and I always look forward to this every year. I've written three so far, and I'm so effin' ready for it, son.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I AM NOT INTERESTING ENOUGH HURR HURR HURRR. But next year, my NaNo group will be Memphis, for I am goin' to college. REPRESENT.

Interest in NaNo: I discovered it last year, just as it was ending. So I've been waiting a whole year! I also have a bad habit of beginning stories and never finishing them, so I'm hoping that this will help me with that.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I don't really know what to say! I'm pretty much a normal, boring college sophomore.

Novel Genre: I'm really not entirely certain. I have started novels in several genres. I tend to be pulled towards sci-fi or fantasy for the sheer fun of creating the "worlds." But we'll see what brain I have in come November.

Interest in NaNo: Something has got to get my butt in gear to finish a project. Last year I jumped in about half way through. This year I am determined.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: Though I don't think I cross the line to obsessed or creepily infatuated, No one loves the Muppets more than I.

Age/Age Group: I'll be turning 21 on October 22! Just in time to get a little partying in before the writing starts. I'm a Junior-ish Psych Major at UTK.

Area: Down Southerland-ish? D: Geography is not my strong point.

Novel Genre: Sci-Fi, Leaning towards a space opera idea this year.

Interest in NaNo: I thoroughly enjoy writing, and the most fun I have is in the creation and telling of the story. After the disastrous events of my NaNo attempt last year (computer crash twice, loss of a good writing program, excessive excuse-making) I hope to do much better this year!

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I LOVE helping people brainstorm (as long as they're willing to occasionally return the favor). Also, I can't spell.

Novel Genre: Inspirational Romance using the Smoky Mountains as my setting...my novel begins in 1866.

Interest in NaNo: NaNo was mentioned to me by one of my blog followers as a way to boost up my word count. I am terrible at being petty and picky as I write so that I spend too much time agonizing over spelling errors, small details, and punctuation. I need to WRITE and WRITE and WRITE.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I also write REAL LIFE poetry...funny little poems about big thighs and yard sales.

Interest in NaNo:/ I write very slow. Stories tend to come to me all at once, everything in place, but getting them from my mind to paper is like trying to suck tar through a coffee stirrer.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me:/ I have no life. I write, I work, I watch pro football. Basically, I'm boring.

Area: East Knoxville, around East Town Mall

Novel Genre: short stores...go, rebels!

Interest in NaNo: I've thought about writing for a while, and wrote a lot of stories when I was younger. Well, actually, I started a lot of stories, then got sick of them and threw them out. Hello everyone. How's life this time around? I'm so excited, November is almost here. It shall be a scaled down year this time around for me, last year's 150,000 insanity is not happening. College just isn't going to give me that kind of time. I'm still here though, and trying my darndest to convince others to do it with me. That's right Brandon, if you're reading this, and Victoria, come on. Nano. Now. It's the coolest thing since crushed ice. Anywho, here's who I am, what I'm about, etc. etc. Let the anticipation begin. :)

Alias/Name: Lissie here, short for Elisabeth, which is far too long for online.

Age/Age Group: I'm 18, and feeling young. still. I get older each year, yet somehow still manage to stay on the lower end of the age groups here. Weird.

Area: Maryville College. Go Scots!

Novel Genre: My tried but true, Mystery/Romance/Christian Fiction.

Plotiness: A box shows up with bones, some chickadee moves to South Carolina, another guy gets his car blown up, this terrorist is building bombs, and somehow in all of this these two peoples fall in love. Yup.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I'm a Bio major. Yah. My passion though, definitely writing. I also live on candy corn during November. And Nano this year starts on a weekend, excitement much?

My name is Alex DiSpirito and I'm an aspiring writer (obviously or I would have had little to no interest in doing this thing). This is my first year writing and I'm pretty excited about getting started. My novel's tentative title is 'The Last brother" and the genre is contemporary fiction. One weird fact about me is that at 27 I'm still amazed by cartoons. I love The Simpsons, Spongebob Squarepants, and even Family Guy on occasion. I love to read any and every book I can get my hands on, but I love to read Stephen King, and some Christian authors like John Eldredge and Max Lucado. I love movies, pretty much any and all types, my favorite is Braveheart. I'm not sure if that will have any effect on my novel, but it just might. I hope to accomplish the 50,000 word goal and that after my novel might help others to see a part of themselves in it. Thanks for reading and be sure to check out the updates and tell me what you think. Thank you again.

I had no idea I'd see you here!!! Hiiii!

Ummm haha...on with the introduction

Alias/Name: Carrie

Age/Age Group: 31 (sometimes I feel old XD)

Area: Maryville/Alcoa (Kinda close to South Knoxville, I suppose)

Novel Genre: Most of my writing is on the Psychological end of the horror genre...though I have been known to branch into urban supernatural, fantasy and even romance on occasion. I think this year's NaNo will be Urban Supernatural...but I haven't really decided yet XD

Interest in NaNo: NaNo gives me a reason to actually finish something! For the most part, I write short stories...sometimes not even long enough to be called that. NaNo gives me the motivation I need to write something longer...to bring an idea from my head, into a more cohesive form that others can enjoy. Or not, since I usually don't let anyone else read it...haha.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I've known Giric up there since high school...and only just found out he was a NaNo'er...how strange. Other than that, I am a geek's geek...I love anime, computer gaming, table-top role playing...playing with computer guts...if its a geek hobby, I likely enjoy it. :D (Oh, and I use emotes entirely TOO MUCH.)

Name: Emily (Since there is another Emily... you can call me Em.) :)

Age: 44, but have yet to grow up! (That's probably why I write for children.)

Area: Maryville (10 minutes from the college)

Novel Genre: Middle Grade and Young Adult Paranormal

Interest in NaNo: I want to challenge myself. I've already finished one novel, half-way through with a second... but I really want to push myself and see if I can write a novel in a month. We'll see how it goes!!

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: Most of my novels (keep in mind, they're paranormal) stem from personal experiences. (Sort of a 'jumping off' point... then my imagination takes over! And I have one heck of an imagination. {{grins}})

Age/Age Group: 15. I think I pass as the tiniest. :D

Area: Alcoa/ Louisville

Novel Genre: Something with fantasy. It's my one true love. Not sure if I'm going with historical or modern. Still working on that one. I'm also bias to strong female protagonists, cliche romance, and killing off characters you'd love. Beware.

Interest in NaNo: I discovered it last year but didn't have the time to participate. I know, lame excuse. But I'm ready this year!

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I've already written 3 novels, all outside of NaNoWriMo. And they're all historical fiction. With a strong female protagonist. Cliche romance. And deaths of characters you'd love. *teehee*

Forgot to do this. D:

Alias/Name: Kathryn / Lappy / Lapstaps / Kat

Age/Age Group: I'm 20. Not turning 21 until February. :(

Area: I live off Sutherland in a very old apartment building. :P

Novel Genre: I tend to stick with fantasy. But I'll be starting off my novel in the "real" world and basing my new world off of Lord Alfred Tennyson's poems. :)

Interest in NaNo: I've been writing since I was in middle school. I used to love coming up with characters with my friends and working them through different plot lines - they were always the same people but the circumstances changed. After a long break in high school I've decided to write again for my own benefit and with my own characters. I'd love to eventually publish a novel and even illustrate parts of it - Nano just gives me the good shove I need in the right direction.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I am deathly afraid of dirty feet in my bed. O_O

Alias/Name: Jen/Jenny/Jennifer; I answer to any and all.

Age/Age Group: I am 25 years old and have been out of college for going on 4 YEARS (hard to believe). I moved up here about a year and a half ago for a job; I'm originally from the greater Nashville area and am a Middle Tennessee alum.

Area: I live in the Fort, which makes a lot of people think I'm either a UT student or grad. I work in Bearden though, so I spend most of my time divided between the downtown and west parts of town.

Novel Genre: I'm going for a fantasy/satire a la Neil Gaiman/Tim Burton/Pushing Daisies (rest in peace). I was struck with inspiration last night, at least for the first few paragraphs. Hoping it turns into something good.

Interest in NaNo: Well, I consider myself a writer. My degree is in print journalism and right now I work as a producer for one of the local news stations, but I ultimately hope to make a living either in travel writing or as a published author. I've literally been writing stories since I learned how to write; but my problem in recent years has been having good ideas but not the time/motivation to complete them. I'm hoping to make a change there.

Fun and/or Random Fact About Me: I spent a summer interning and studying in Britain during my senior year of college; I absolutely fell in love with it and hope I can find a way to live there some day.
