It says I must enter the password to join the room.
What's the password?

You know... I don't remember. I'll go check and should have an edit above on the main entry.

Just FYI, the link to the chat room is also in the links section under the region info tab. I'm not sure why they put links in the regional info tab instead of the main tab, but they did. Maybe next year...

What exactly is a virtual write in? Where we seemingly write but not really?

Grin. A virtual write-in in theory provides a place for people to gather and write together. Obviously they wouldn't be all writing in the forum, as they'd be writing on their individual writing projects. Usually write-ins have a great amount of potential activities to help folks through writer's block, and to help inspire your writing. We do word prompts (to help you get writing for the day), character development prompts, and generally give you an atmosphere in which everyone is in the same boat.
I do like the joke though. Lets all virtually write. Or virtually pretend to write! Mwahaha

I just got done with the first Virtual Write-in and it was really cool! Everyone was super nice since this was my first regional event type thingy. My sole bummer (and this might just be my laptop being weird and stupid) was that whenever someone posted a message, my window would switch from Write or Die to the chat room page and my laptop was slow about letting me click back to Write or Die, eating up my writing time.
If this is just happening to me, I'll deal but if it happens to multiple people, it could pose trouble.

I'm working on getting the IRC information that way we can log in a different way. Do you have FireFox? If you dl that it should remedy the problem as well. I noticed that I didn't have that issue with it this evening.

i wasnt having any issues like that, but i wasnt really using the write or die thing. Surria suggested this program she used last year and its called Q10 (since i didnt actually have a word processor before today anyway). It has a built in word counter and various timers so you can write for X amount of time then it alarms and tells you your count for that time period. Really spiffy. Plus it blocks out other windows so you have to alt + tab to get to your web browser which is helpful since i have a hard time not surfing instead of what im supposed to do. plus the fact that i can change it to dark green writing on a black background is much easier for my eyes.

I went tonight as well - I was kind of nervous, because though this is my third year of NaNo (or fourth, whatever, I can't count), I've never done anything region-wise. Everyone was so nice - I wasn't able to write (was doing homework) but I highly recommend this for those who can do it! It seems super-useful. =)

Awe shucks guys! Thanks for the kind words.
You know, I think I may need to look up this Q10 program. It sounds great!
For those of you who were looking for the IRC interface name, its vannano so if you have a chat client that you would prefer to use, and then type in the IRC information you could do that. Don't ask me how to do this, as I only know it can be done, not the process.
