One of the best things about Nano is the opportunity to suffer... er CELEBRATE with your fellow writers! We'll have a number of write ins (where we write) and meet ups (where we - you guessed it - meet up) during the month, but the important question is *where!*

As far as meetings go - Our usual haunts include:
Cosi, West Hartford
Barnes and Noble and Starbucks, Manchester
Starbucks, Farmington
Panera, Bristol
Starbucks/B&N/Panera/*FLATBREAD* Canton.
Javapalooza, Middletown

If you know a great place, feel free to let me know, and maybe we can bring the Nano-party to your town!

I'm a fan of Cosi in West Hartford and Canton group. And the starbucks in Farmington. I live in Litchfield - so almost anything is a ride. We have a new coffee shop in Litchfield that would be a good meet up place for anyone who is up here in the woods! Or willing to take the ride...

I'm cool with the Panera in Bristol. That's only a five minute drive for me. Here's hoping that there will be a write-in or two that takes place during the day, or on Mon-Tue so work doesn't conflict.

YES! FLATBREAD!
*Sticks hand up wildly*
Def. Vote for flatbread in canton. :]
There's a cute starbucks in simsbury, as well.
What about the barnes and noble in West Hartford? (Blue Back)
I've been there a couple times and it seems like there would be places for us to sit and commune with the plotbunnies...

Barnes and Noble and Starbucks, Manchester

This is practically at my house, so I'm definitely a fan of this location! I also like It's A Grind in East Windsor, but I don't know if there's enough people in that particular area.

Both It's A Grind and the Manchester B&N/Starbucks would be perfect for me, as I live about 10 minutes from either one. Looking forward to meet-ups here, or maybe just some real life word wars with a couple people nearby.

I live in Burlington, so my absolute favorites are

Starbucks, Farmington
Panera, Bristol
Starbucks/B&N/Panera/*FLATBREAD* Canton.

Those are all about 15 to 20 minutes from my house. The rest are a bit farther.

Not the wrong region, we just haven't had much call to meet up in your neck of the woods. I was suggestions, especially if there are a bunch of you that these locations are too southern for. The reason so many are in central CT is because that's usually where we have the most writers from. I try to put the meet ups in places that make them most local for the most people.

Is there somewhere closer to you that might be just 15 minutes from the Manchester people?

As a Windsor...ian...(o_O) it's looking like West Hartford is closest to me, and that's about 25-30 minutes away. But I was driving to the JCC and it's Swim and Tennis Club in Bloomfield for work all summer, so it's not really that big a deal for me.

What IS, however, is my absolutely dreadful sense of direction. That, coupled with an almost equally horrible knowledge of geography, makes it really hard for me to get anywhere. But I have a GPS, so it's not impossible.

Heh I only moved here two months ago so I don't know where anything 'writer friendly' would be. I know how to get to the walmart, the gas station, the grocery store, and the laundry mat and that's roughly it. Last year's NANO I was in Meriden, an hour south of here. Not sure. I also get twitchy about getting lost since I don't have a GPS system. Hopefully Santa will be good to me this year. :)

Love the Manchester and South Windsor locations as they appeal to my "I'm too lazy to drive" side.

Also, I will be away the first weekend of NaNo (annual writer's retreat with some friends). I don't want to be throwing locations out there and then not showing up without explaination when the write-ins are scheduled!

I will be posting some write-ins in the area around Manchester, Vernon, Ellington, Tolland, Storrs, and Stafford. I'll vary times of day and days of the week, so that people with different work and school schedules can attend. These will be very casual -- just get together and write like demons.

For those in the North/East of Hartford area, would anyone be interested in a kick-off write-in on Sunday, November 1st? Maybe late morning, so we can recover from Halloween, but we're still getting a reasonably early start on our NaNoWriMo.

Here are some possible locations, all right along the I-84 corridor east of Hartford:

The first four all have free wi-fi; the last two do not have wi-fi at all, to the best of my knowledge.

- Borders near Buckland Hills mall
- B & N inside Buckland Hills Mall (already mentioned by NyKitty!)
- Panera on Deming street in Manchester (near exit 63 on I-84)
- Between Rounds in Vernon, intersection of routes 30 & 83, (near exit 64 on I-84)
- Cafe Lafayette, a really cool Mom & Pop joint at Rockville/Tolland line, (near exit 67 on I-84)
- Bagels & More in Tolland, (near exit 68 on I-84)

If you're interested, tell me which location works best for you. We could just show up at any of them, although I'd probably give Cafe Lafayette a courtesy call first.

They're all easily within my striking distance. I'm unsure as to our schedule in November, though. So I'm mostly useless on this thread at this point.

The Panera in Bristol is within my jaunting distance. Further north and east are usually beyond my energy except for something really special.

Yes! Me! Definitely!

Any of the ideas are good by me. Just tell me where and when and I'll be there!

(Oops, I got a little too excited and neglected to quote the post I was responding to. To which I was responding. :-b This is a response to Toni's 11/1 write-in in Manchester/Vernon area.)

I'm sure you'll all be shocked that these too are fine with me.

I'm really excited for the one at Java-I'm from Middletown, so that's super close. Manchester isn't bad either.
