Hello fellow NaNo’ers!
I'm Sylista A.K.A Jennifer. (I'm the one who wrote about the crazy red headed vampire.)

We are in the initial planning stages of a NaNoWriMo Kick off Party to take place November 1st just before midnight at the Matrix and run until the dawn! (and later hopefully!)

We will be having the write off starting at 11:59 with the count down and book drop (instead of the ball drop). Don't feel like changing? Come show off your Halloween Costume!

We will have a small area blocked off for people who want to catch a few winks during the wee early morning hours. Everyone is encouraged to bring your own pillows and blankets. We will have a few blankets on hand as well. There will be a heater in the room but the rest of the Matrix, as we know, can get a bit chilly so be sure to dress warm!

The regular menu will be available as well as a special Breakfast menu to select from during the write in (proceeds will help with the cost of heating and the Nachoes are amazing to boot!).

Now on to the one detail we would like to know:
How many people will be able to come to this kick off?

In order to make sure we will have the proper facilities, we are looking for a head count of who would be interested in coming to the kick off.
If we have only a few people we would consider moving it to another location but right now we are planning to hold the event at the Matrix. We encourage as many members to attend as possible.
We are looking at a start time of roughly 11:45 with the final countdown to kick off beginning at 11:59 with the book drop.

If you have questions or would like to let us know you can come, feel free to put a post here or email me at jashakaru@yahoo.com and put Kick Off Party in the subject line, that way I know it’s a NaNo thing. I will also address this at the October 17th meeting at the Matrix.

Everyone have a Great October and I hope to see you November 1st for the Kick Off Party!

Jennifer a.k.a Sylista a.k.a Kianna

I would have loved to come, it sounds just like something I would enjoy, but it's on a Saturday night, when I work. Unless I come, my mother probably wouldn't want to come, either (she's legally blind, so she can't drive). I'll see you guys another time, though.

I'm going to be there :D

Was planning on dressing as my character for inspiration, which can be an idea for those who don't normally dress up at Halloween :)

I dress like my main character every day... Oh wait, that was way too revealing... :P

As for the party... I'll let you know later... If I am in the area, I will come. However there is a good chance I will be wandering in the deserts of Utah on that date...

This was a waste of a post... But then again, where else am I going to type during October, since I can't start my novel yet...

I am so sorry that I will not be able to make this party! Unfortunately, I have to work. I'm sure it will be fun.

Are you nuts?

At 11:45 - dawn and then some, I plan to be sleeping peacefully. You guys must be younger than I am. No wait, I don't think I was ever that young!

Yes, actually I am Holly St Clair, I just mispelled my name when I signed up with Nano and can't figure out how to change it, :) I will definitely be there, since I'm part of the Matrix Coffeehouse, and will (probably) be writing again this year, hopefully the third in a series...the first two were Nano-novels. It should be a great party! I AM that old, what am I thinking? If we have a smaller group we may go somewhere warmer. I'd love to have folks down to my house, but it's about 12 miles south of Chehalis.

Haha! I'm with you on that one, Sheryl! If I'm not working, I plan to be sleeping. I don't think I could possibly write anything semi-coherent at that time of day.
The downside of not being there, is missing the festivities, but the upside is that we'll simply have to plan more festivities!

I'll be there for at least a little bit at the beginning, in costume, I hope. I'll probably go home to sleep for a while, but depending how late people stick around, I may come back for breakfast. It sounds like a lot of fun--I'm looking forward to it.

I'll be there, uncostumed but hopeful.

It's the night we get an extra hour!

Write on.

Very soon,

Since the loud rock and roll bands canceled for Oct. 31st, we can start gathering earlier at Matrix that night if people want to(around 10pm?). Nanowriters don't need to pay a cover charge, but bring lots of blankets, sweaters, etc.

I think I might be able to make it, though, I will technically be in Halloween mode.
Bahaha.

I'm planning to come. Don't know how long I'll stay, but Holly's breakfast is a real incentive!

Hey all, this party is starting to take shape, like our novels! I have a count of 10 who may make it. I just wanted to let everyone know that the Nano-party will officially start Saturday, Oct. 31st at 10pm. Matrix will be having a Halloween party that night but Nanonovelers don't have to pay the $2.50 cover(unless you want to be part of the costume contest:). Just let the door person know that you are a nanowriter. We will close the doors at 12pm(and send the Halloweeners home), so please try to show up by then if you are planning to come and write all night! The new plan is that the front room will be heated up for writing in, and the "larger space" will be for sleeping. I have about 6 "comfortable" sleeping couches. If you want one for sure, feel free to bring a mat or something. And of course you will need blankets, sleeping bags, warm clothing. I am planning to have St. Clair's Eggs Benedict or Pop's specials (an incredibly good breakfast sandwich created by my family). It would be nice to have a head count by Saturday if possible, so I can get supplies. Breakfast will be served at around 7am and will cost around $7.(but it is certainly not mandatory) Then we should all go home and sleep so we can be back for the write-in at Starbuck's Centralia Sunday night. I'm looking forward to meeting people and hearing about your novels.

Am I on your "list"? Because if I am not, you should correct that, and if I am that is correct, unless of course you are dyslexic, in which case I maybe should have said that the other way around, unless you are not that kind of dyslexic, so I hope that's clear and simple, but if its not, you can just try reading it again, because you all know that I are a very good and clear writer whom always writing simple and direct sentences clearly am.

OK?

I might not stay all night...

Oh, wait, that was a different story...

But I digress...

Holly, I don't know if I can commit to staying for breakfast. It sounds wonderful, and I'm tentatively planning on it, but the choir is singing in church Sunday morning, and I may end up bailing and going home to sleep for a few hours.

If I show up around twelve, will I still be able to get in?

You are now on my list, backwards, forwards or upside down. No problem. My last novel put forth the idea that dyslexia is a mutation for survival.

I'm thinkin' if I get ambitious I'll make Onion soup for the early morning hours and just ask for donations in case anybody needs a warm immune boosting aid. But I'm not promising cause I could be caught up in words.

Wanda, I'm sure someone will let you in if you peck on the door or window. Heck, I'll do it myself!

Holly, since you're doing a breakfast headcount, I'm not sure I'll make it until 7am. It's very, very tempting, but chances are I'll probably bail for bed around 5.

PS Will there be coffee all night? If there is, I will probably purchase about a gallon of it.

Well, my previous Halloween plans just got canceled due to a couple friends coming down with swine flu (don't worry! I haven't seen them for a couple weeks. XD), so I've decided that I'll be joining you gals tomorrow night! I already stay up ridiculously late so 7am should be... manageable. lol. I probably won't go for breakfast, I'm not very hungry in the mornings, but put me down for some of those nachos!

Oh! Just wanted to remind people that on November 1st, daylight savings time ends. That means we set the clock back an hour. @_@ So we will start writing at midnight, and then at 2am we switch our clocks back to 1am. So really our overnight excursion will be ending EIGHT hours after midnight, if we're having breakfast at 7am. Oh dear. Does this affect any of our plans?

Hi, Holly,

For your count, I plan to be there for midnight, but not for breakfast.

Also, I put the Matrix in the Nano Passport, which is our month-long, on-your-own-time version of a cafe crawl. So if people show up and want a stamp in their passport, that's what that's about. Anything will do, a sticker, a stamp, a business card, whatever. I'll try to remember to bring you one tomorrow.

Sorry that your plans got canceled, but yay :D More the merrier!

Anyone else's notices arriving waaay late? Just got this in e-mail and it was supposedly posted 7 hours ago o.O

I don't see how DST should effect anyone. Will give people an extra hour to sleep, if they decide to only work for the first one or two. As I am worthless on less than 5 hours sleep, I am going to try not to sleep at all ^_^
