Thanks, Erin!
I've self-published my very first NaNo win a good while ago (August 15th) and now that work had quieted down, I will be taking some time to work on promo.
So far, I have:
1. Creates mini-flyers a la business card format, featuring my main character, author info, URL, twitter, facebook and email.
2. Set up an Author's Blog, wherein I chronicle the events from plotting, to writing, to prep, to edit, to publish, to marketing (and if other authors will be inspired to publish thanks to that blog, then I had done my job). Viewable at: http://www.katherinegilraine.com
3. Just got my press release from a journalist friend of mine and will be sending it to, well, nearly everyone with a pulse.
And, of course, NaNo 2009. Since my concept is for a series, this is where I will be writing Book 4. Where would I be without NaNo, I do not know.
Looking forward to the kick-off!

Ok - definitely in the self promotion dept - non-nano category.
I sit on the Board of my local YMCA.
We are having an online auction fund-raiser to raise funds for our Strong Kids program. The program provides YMCA scholarships and memberships to kids, families and seniors who due to economic conditions are unable to afford the services of the Y (which in addition to gym membership include child care, day care, after school programs, and youth leadership training).
Please visit and make a bid.

Hi all:
Just wanted to let you know that the Brooklyn Comic Con is happening this weekend, November 7 and 8, from 11 am to 7 pm. Special guests include Harvey Pekar and Al Jaffee.
The location is the Brooklyn Lyceum (R train to Union Street).
My friend Thomas Baehr, comics illustrator, will be one of the exhibitors there, and I will be around helping him for a bit. We will be handing out a give-away of the short N.Y.C. subway story we worked on together earlier this year:
Hope to see some of you there.

Hello All! I'm hosting a FREE book reading followed by a reception on Friday, November 13th (spooky, I know) at the Roy Arias Off Off Broadway Playhouse. I’ll be reading from my debut novel, THE OSTRICH, A TALE OF FLIGHTLESS ADVENTURE (Book 1 Of The Qistone Trilogy). I’ll also be debuting a wholly original writing, yes a World Premiere NOT to be missed, and I may read a few other things as well.
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=167936034650&ref=mf#/event.php?eid...
Also, my novel is now available on Amazon.com. So far the reader reviews have been fantastic! Reviews: http://www.amazon.com/Ostrich-Tale-Flightless-Adventure-Qistone/product-...
If you'd like to download chapter 1 for free, read excerpts from the novel, or watch video of my sketch comedy clips (if you need a break from the written word), please visit my website at www.stephenmcnameerocks.com
THE OSTRICH Synopsis: Imagine if David Sedaris or Chuck Klosterman were forced to narrate Harry Potter. Now, instead of a British boy going to a British boarding school, imagine an Egyptian-American girl going to public school...in Texas. Welcome to the homogeneous setting of Plaintown, Texas where Davy Crockett Junior High 7th grader Amira doesn't ask for much. She just wants to fit in, defeat her arch-nemesis in swimming, and speak a coherent sentence in front of her crush, Kyle. Unfortunately, that's hard to do since Amira's the protector of a magical orb that mustn't fall into the hands of a dark, powerful secret society. This task, however, proves especially difficult since Amira doesn't realize she's the orb's protector. Further, Amira must contend with a pack of wolves who want her dead, at least one assassin hot on her trail, vivid nightmares of being chased by a man with purple eyes, and a dangerous lack of rhythm. So can Amira defeat a sinister, uber-powerful group armed with only her wits, a small group of misfit friends, a sweet little brother, and an ostrich? To find out, please read THE OSTRICH: A TALE OF FLIGHTLESS ADVENTURE (BOOK 1 OF THE QISTONE TRILOGY).
Feel free to join the book page on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/stephenmcnameerocks

And after all of that self promotion, I will now go take a shower! Thanks for reading! May your Muses be out in full force today.
-Stephen

Well, I'll post this on the Local Promotion thread, but please be advised: I urge all NanoWriMo people to keep writing on 11/30/09, and go to Desperation Libation, and keep writing until 11:59pm!
But, I'm stuck with this, as part of my capacity of secretary of the committee sponsoring the event at the NYC Bar Association, so I have to attend this on 11/30/09 (I still plan on writing until 11:59pm, so that goes!).
Ultimately, if you know law students and new lawyers who aren't doing NanoWriMo (what, no, really?), please pass the info along:
