Happy October Columbia Wrimos!
This is my favorite time of year. The weather is cooling down, the leaves are turning colors, and I’ve been busily plotting my Nano about second chances. The excitement of starting a new project is something that I always enjoy. I know that you are all looking forward to it too! Kalayna and I have been working hard on planning and we have some great pre-Nano events planned.
1. Plotting Bash – Come and learn new ways to plot and talk about the plotting problems that you’re facing in your novel.
2. Creativity Kicker – Fun with word padding! This will be the third year that we’ve done this and we have lots of fun activities planned.
3. The Nano Kickoff- Come and meet the other Columbia wrimos and talk about Nano craziness!
We also have a full slate of write-ins scheduled for all over town and our third annual lock-in. We’ll post dates as we decide when things will happen!

Glad to see the October bug bit someone else =D I was afraid I was going to be all alone on these forums until Halloween eve.
I don't have dates set in stone yet, but Melanie (ReasonsUnknown) and I will almost certainly be holding a few Write-Ins in the Preston lobby on USC's campus. We're trying to get a sort of dorm competition going. We should have the actual dates planned in a week or two -- stay posted.
As a note to anyone with dog fears/allergies: our mascots will be two very friendly Aussie puppies, and they'll be there to cheer us on most days. If I need to leave them at home, please drop me a note.

Hey Vert ^^ I seriously considered not coming back this year, actually, after last year's epic attention-span fail Then the forums reset (all clean and shiny, mmm), and I decided it would be a great idea to quadruple my wordcount goal instead.
.... That's logical, right?
Right?
x_X At least I won't have time to lose interest this year. Might be scarce at write-ins. I say this because my brain is screaming, "I'll be at all of them!" which I have learned means, "I will be at two, and you won't see my face again until a) the TGIO party, or b) next year." So. We're going to announce the plans as the latter, and see where that goes. (Although having transporation this year makes attendence much more probable. Having two puppies, on the other hand.... Oh screw it. I'll be at at least one.)
Still trying to figure out the time for me'n Melanie's Preston write-in. Also debating opening the apartment for writerly drop-ins on Tuesdays and Thursdays (my free days), but the roommate jury is still out on that one.

How do we find out where the events are located so we can join in the fun?

Heads-up --- since the 31st of October and the 1st of November fall on a Saturday, I'm offering up another unofficial NaNoWeen event this year! I'm hosting it after the kick-off party until as late as you want to stay after Midnight to get those first crucial words down. (Which means you can come to the official kick off, go to your regularly scheduled halloween parties, then drop by for writing in the wee hours of the morn!) There will be coffee, candy, cookies, coffee, cocoa, pre-midnight plotting, a special viewing of Steven King's Secret Window, and we'll begin writing when the clock strikes 12. NaNoMail me if you know you're interested, and I'll being posting more info closer to the date!
