Good morning, Southeastern Wisconsin! It's seven days in since re-launch, and I thought this would be a great time for introductions. I know that sometimes it's hard to figure out where to begin when writing an introduction, so I thought this meme might help -- it's a writer's twenty questions, if you will. (You can still write a narrative introduction if you prefer that.)

Getting To Know You Meme

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: ...

Goal for your Word Count: 50,006-50,124 (each NaNo's turned out between this range)

Number of Years Participated in Nano: 3

Favorite Writing Spot: I'm partial to desks.

Favorite Time to Write: From 6-8 at night is a good productive time for me.

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: Mostly I use my computer, but pen and paper are oh-so-handy to get out a few hundred words in between longer sessions.

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: So far I've got an underground city and a virus. It's just been developed in the past week or so.

Five of Your Favorite Words: Epitome, superfluous, indeed, Catholicism, delight

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: I don't exactly believe in writer's block.

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: Evil. Very very evil.

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): Music--I like soundtracks, quieter music that's pretty familiar.

Favorite Genre: I veer towards fantasy.

Pirates or Ninjas?: Pirates.

Do You Save Everything You Write: Yes!

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: Studying. A college student's work is never done, it seems.

What Is Your Writing Strength?: I know how to use semicolons.

Favorite Authors: Scott Westerfeld, Anne Lamott, John Green, Tamora Pierce, Jane Austen

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Koalas seem happy.

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: Fiction

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: Hi, my name's Steph, and I'm a student at Marquette University. Freshman. I'm just getting into the whole college thing, but I'm really loving it so far. I've done NaNoWriMo the past three years and have won every time, and my favorite thing besides crossing the finish line is to look back and see how my writing's progressed from year to year. I'm originally from the Northwoods, so I'm excited to see what noveling in a big city like Milwaukee is like--write-ins and meets were impossible for me last year. Oh, and I'm wearing my 09 shirt right now. I'm pretty happy about that.

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: That's undecided at this point.

Goal for your Word Count: Also undecided.

Number of Years Participated in Nano: This would be my second year; last year, family stuff interrupted the effort.

Favorite Writing Spot: On a computer with an ergonomic keyboard. Though I'd love to have a laptop and be able to easily try writing in parks and coffeeshops. We'll see...

Favorite Time to Write: Late at night.

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: Computer. Hands down.

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: I have several possibilities.

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: Switch projects, or do something else for a while. Embarking on housework usually works when doing some other creative thing doesn't.

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): This varies. Once I get really into the fiction, however, if the music stops, it stops. I'm usually too focused to bother with renewing it.

Favorite Genre: Speculative Fiction

Pirates or Ninjas?: As a child, I always thought that wearing all black, in black sheets, would be good for hiding from mythical bedtime monsters, if such cool things actually existed. But the pirate wardrobe is lots more fun! I like color!

Do You Save Everything You Write: Yes. It's hard to tell, while you're writing something, if it's good. And even if something is a dreadful first draft, and I have no idea now to fix it now, it could have the seed for something really kick, when I gain some new insight or writing skill.

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: Painting, or singing and playing music, or gardening. or taking care of house and kid and pets. Hmm...these seem to be more or less in order of fun, which isn't how I get to decide what to do next most of the time.

What Is Your Writing Strength?: I trust my subconscious, and my skills, and get into my viewpoint character'(s)'s mindset(s) and go. There's lots of other skills I've worked on, but I think that ability to be "in" the fictional world is the center pin.

Favorite Authors: Robin McKinley, Charles DeLint, Lois McMaster Bujold, oh, there's a lot of them. Mostly fantasy writers, mostly female, though I like CJ Cherryh's science fiction much better than her fantasy...

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Dragon.

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: Oh, fact, though different people's muses vary quite a bit. One of mine is getting enough sleep!

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: Maybe later!

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: write something else or go to sleep

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): muted or distant sounds

Favorite Genre: romance for writing, mystery for reading

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: most likely "The Fifth Wheel"

Goal for your Word Count: as many as I can do

Number of Years Participated in Nano: this is my first year!

Favorite Writing Spot: when the weather is nice, by the lake

Favorite Time to Write: whenever the mood strikes (which lately has been in the middle of classes)

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: pen & paper for the 1st draft, computer for the second

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: I have 3 ideas for different novels, but the one I'm most likely going to do is about a group of friends: 2 couples and the fifth wheel and how they deal with balancing friendship and reltionships

Five of Your Favorite Words: sequester, ethereal, blossom, poke, shimmer

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: watch tv/movies (that is where I get a lot of inspiration)

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: Both. I love getting new ideas, but sometimes the bunnies just bite at the wrong moment...

Favorite Authors: Jane Austen, Tamora Pierce, Timothy Zhan, J.K. Rowling, Shakespeare, Vijay Lakshmi

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Horse

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: FACT

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: I'm a Southern gal living up North for the moment. I'm a junior in college, studying English and Communications. I am totally and completely obsessed with Star Wars; George Lucas and John Williams are amazing!

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: no idea yet

Goal for your Word Count: 50,000 (that's me, Ms. Bare Minimum!)

Number of Years Participated in Nano: This will be #2 for me.

Favorite Writing Spot: Moondance with Zhie and company! :-)

Favorite Time to Write: evenings and weekends

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: computer

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: A sci-fi thriller about a psychologist examining a teenage girl who claims to be hearing alien voices in her head.

Five of Your Favorite Words: sanctimonious, statuesque, egads, disingenuous, douchebag (what? Sometimes it really is the best word for the situation!)

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: skip to another part of the novel, do a word war, or do something else for awhile.

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: Sometimes good, sometimes evil. Dragonball-Z fanfic plot bunnies are very evil.

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): music. Last NaNo I had just bought my first Rammstein CD and quickly became obsessed. Now every time I listen to that particular album it reminds me of NaNo. :-) It's nice because since the words are in German, they don't interfere with the words I'm writing.

Favorite Genre: science fiction

Pirates or Ninjas?: ninjas

Do You Save Everything You Write: no, but then I don't actually write very much.

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: knitting, playing video games, watching reruns, and dabbling in web design and game programming

What Is Your Writing Strength?: I've been told my dialogue is entertaining, and it's also the part I enjoy writing the most.

Favorite Authors: Michael Crichton, Isaac Asimov, Robert Jordan, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: bird. I'd love to fly.

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: I personally lean towards fiction, but I think they're as real as they seem to the person hearing them, if that makes sense.

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: I'm Erin, 27, software engineer by day, serial hobby-acquirer by night. I don't really consider myself a "writer"; I haven't written enough to warrant that, though I was very proud to hit the 50k mark last year and would love to start writing more. Wife to a 28-year-old man named Kevin, keeper of a 5-year-old bearded dragon named Asimov, perpetually walking the fine line between crafty hobbies and geeky, technical hobbies.

Getting To Know You Meme

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: None yet.

Goal for your Word Count: 60,000! Stepping it up, this year.

Number of Years Participated in Nano: Second year, this year.

Favorite Writing Spot: The couch.

Favorite Time to Write: Late night.

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen & Paper: Computer, although I do use the typewriter quite a bit.

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: Spy novel!

Five of Your Favorite Words: scoopula, pavane, somewhere, betwixt, thither

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: Stop writing and thing.

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: If it gets the story moving, good. If it's a dead end, bad.

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): Music, depends on what the theme of the novel is. I'm thinking I'll actually need a playlist this year.

Favorite Genre: Sci Fi

Pirates or Ninjas?: Ninjas.

Do You Save Everything You Write: Yeah, I guess.

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: Composing music or doing math.

What Is Your Writing Strength?: Setting the scene.

Favorite Authors: Max Barry

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Owl, or possibly a gryffin, if that's allowed.

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: My muses are things and events, not people.

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: It won't be too much harder to get to 60,000...will it?

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: None yet

Goal for your Word Count: I'd like to get between 50k and 65k, as I'm writing a Young Adult novel.

Number of Years Participated in Nano: This will be my fourth year.

Favorite Writing Spot: A coffeeshop or my office, depending on my mood.

Favorite Time to Write: Whenever the mood strikes me. Typically I write best in the evening before bed.

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: I use pen and paper for the vast majority of my notes, thoughts, ideas, blurbs, etc. I also use my iPhone to record things while I'm on walks or out doing errands. I use my computer to write everything down.

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: I believe I understand this to be "What are you writing this year?" and that would be a steampunk Young Adult adventure.

Five of Your Favorite Words: Essentially, interesting, proprietary, lovely, and yesterday

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: I freewrite and get everything that's in my head out on paper.

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: I've always looked at plot bunnies as story ideas, which can never be a bad thing. That's why you have a notebook or journal or digital recorder of some sort to jot it down before you lose it. Or maybe I don't have the right notion of "plot bunny."

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): I like listening to music generally (alternative rock, classic rock, classical, singer/songwriter), but the silence helps me concentrate when I'm working on something particularly involved.

Favorite Genre: Science Fiction, usually with a social commentary bent.

Pirates or Ninjas?: Ninjas. Definitely.

Do You Save Everything You Write: Yes. And usually on at least three hard drives.

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: Editing. Or blogging. Or event planning. Or Reading.

What Is Your Writing Strength?: Pacing, though some of my colleagues might argue atmosphere/setting.

Favorite Authors: H.G. Wells, Charles Dickens, J.R.R. Tolkein, Philip K. Dick, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Brian Aldiss

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Cockroach (they live forever)

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: An excuse

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: Writing is a serious endeavor that takes dedication and continuous learning. I truly love the process of evolution that occurs with my writing in both style and voice. I also very much enjoy creative writing education (teaching, that is) and love that I get to work with a lot of great Milwaukee writers as the director of the Milwaukee Writers Workshop.

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: Not sure yet.

Goal for your Word Count: 50,000

Number of Years Participated in Nano: this will be my second year, however I didn't finish last year

Favorite Writing Spot: My bedroom

Favorite Time to Write: Night

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: Pen and paper usually, although I'm contemplating trying the computer more often

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: Inspired by the song Under the Gun by The Killers, an unusual urban fantasy/romance

Five of Your Favorite Words: Facetious, crisp, however, aforementioned, likelihood

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: Hmm, listen to music or take a walk

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: I wish I knew what that was..

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): Music most definitely. Most of my plots come from songs, so I usually listen to that song on repeat while writing.

Favorite Genre: Sci/fi & fantasy with romance incorporated

Pirates or Ninjas?: Both

Do You Save Everything You Write: Definitely

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: Running, studying, reading

What Is Your Writing Strength?: My ideas, I think. The problem is getting them down on paper.

Favorite Authors: Suzanne Collins, Cassandra Clare, Margaret Mitchell

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Octopus

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: FACT, my muse is music

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: I'm only in high school, so if I could juggle school, extra-curriculars, friends and NaNo it would be a miracle. Ha.

I...forgot to give my own answers when I posted this initially... *hangs head in shame*

Getting To Know You Meme

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: Sono Luminus

Goal for your Word Count: 65,000-ish

Number of Years Participated in Nano: This will be year 5

Favorite Writing Spot: I just moved this past month, so I'm not sure where that will be yet... outside of the house, I think it's the 'cozy corner' at the Panera in Oak Creek

Favorite Time to Write: 11 o'clock... am or pm doesn't matter

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: pen and paper, but Nano's word count really requires use of a computer

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: Fanfiction, with apologies to J.R.R. Tolkien... I've only done one original (fantasy) novel for nano (during my 2nd year), and having had a pretty 'series of unfortunate events' sort of year, I need to play in a familiar sandbox this November

Five of Your Favorite Words: acanthus, indigo, whisper, xanthic, and aproctis (better not to ask on this one)

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: snuggle a kitty & converse with the muses... if that fails, there's always cheesecake

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: Evil, in a good way

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): Music... Erasure's my usual standby, with the Doors, Prince, Depeche Mode, Yaz, Talking Heads, and various Heavy Metal bands tossed in... this year, I'm adding in Lady Gaga

Favorite Genre: Fantasy (growing up it was SciFi & Mystery)

Pirates or Ninjas?: Pirates! Arrrrr

Do You Save Everything You Write: Even shopping lists sometimes...

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: surrounded by books, teaching, or, at the moment, unpacking...

What Is Your Writing Strength?: Characters... keeping track of oodles of them

Favorite Authors: Madeleine L'Engle, J.R.R. Tolkien, Dr. Seuss, Fred Mustard Stewart, Peter David, George Orwell

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Cheetah

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: Fact

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: I'm really looking forward to meeting new WriMos this year & reconnecting with the WriMo vets. I have had so much fun planning for Nano, not only planning for what I'm writing, but also in working out the details for the kick-off (which I hope I can announce soon), spending the weekends picking up swag, and figuring out a 'theme' for our region this year. I can't wait to get back to the coffee shops, the word wars, the carpooling, the power-writing-lunches, the chats, the late night text messages, and the little green bar that magically turns purple near the end of the month. Less than three weeks to go -- woohoo!

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: I'll title after I write a little bit of it first.

Goal for your Word Count: 50,000

Number of Years Participated in Nano: This will be my third.

Favorite Writing Spot: My couch or my breakfast counter. Sometimes my car and I do manage to get an awful lot done at work between clients, oddly.

Favorite Time to Write: I tend to have the best concentration in the mornings or mid afternoon.

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: Computer at home, pen and paper elsewhere. Barnes and Noble has these really nice hardcover notebooks for $5 that I really love using.

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: I actually used a generator and refreshed until I got this one about lying.

Five of Your Favorite Words: Fuck. Sinewy. Wicked. Douchebag (yes, it really DOES have versatile meaning and uses! lol) Smut.

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: Stop writing and do something else.

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: Good since I'm using one this year.

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): Usually music unless it's a time I'm too easily distracted. I have a playlist that I write to. Kinda of varied. Sheryl Crow to Elton John to H.I.M. to Alice in Chains.

Favorite Genre: Erotic slash fiction. Street stories.

Pirates or Ninjas?: Arrggghhhhhh

Do You Save Everything You Write: Absolutely. Never know when you're going to need something.

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: Working, plotting, planning, reading and driving my writing buddy crazy.

What Is Your Writing Strength?: Dialogue.

Favorite Authors: S.E. Hinton, Elizabeth Berg, Anne Rice

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Cat that I own. Spoiled rotten. :D

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: Fact.

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?:Good luck on your goals, everyone!

I'm a little slow on this, this year. Hoping that isn't a precursor of things to come.

Getting To Know You Meme

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: I'm still working on the title for my '06 NaNo....

Goal for your Word Count: Something over 50k.

Number of Years Participated in Nano: This will be number 4.

Favorite Writing Spot: Seated. I am something of a writing whore, I'll write anywhere.

Favorite Time to Write: Evenings, when I should be sleeping. Everything seems so much clearer then.

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: Computer, though sometimes with a pen.

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: I don't believe in plans.

Five of Your Favorite Words: I don't play favorites.

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: Cry, drink myself into a stupor. I used to also try irresponsible sex but it takes up too much writing time.

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: Baked or fried?

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): I do better with background noise, usually just hit shuffle on iTunes.

Favorite Genre: Reading some urban fantasy lately.

Pirates or Ninjas?:As cool as Dr McNinja is, my pastafarian beliefs mean I must acknowledge the power of the pirate.

Do You Save Everything You Write: I probably shouldn't.

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: Trying to cheat death.

What Is Your Writing Strength?: Is this a trick question?

Favorite Authors: I think I mentioned I don't play favorites....

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: house cat.

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: I don't see why a muse couldn't help with either one, though muses for facts are probably pretty dull.

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: Pickles are wrinkly and green, but I don't think we should hold that against them.

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: Don't know.

Goal for your Word Count: 50k+?

Number of Years Participated in Nano: This is my first attempt.

Favorite Writing Spot: In bed, with a comfy blanket.

Favorite Time to Write: Late night, when normal people are asleep.

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: Pen and paper, but computer if I actually want to continue to work with the piece.

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: Belch forth a lot of words in the hope that, come December, there will be enough good material to form the framework of a real novel.

Five of Your Favorite Words: drek, gorram, superfluous, disingenuous, sophisticated

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: something creative and right-brained, like playing music, drawing, crafting....

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: Huh?

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): Music, although it's good when I don't notice the end of the CD. Instrumental jazz is my favorite when I'm feeling creative.

Favorite Genre: Fantasy, Sci-Fi (especially with a real hard science basis), well, anything good, really.

Pirates or Ninjas?: Ninjas. The pirates wouldn't even see them until it was too late.

Do You Save Everything You Write: Sort of. I'm pretty sure everything I've ever written is in a box.... somewhere....

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…:working, cooking, photography, playing games, working out, trying to fit 48 hours into a day....

What Is Your Writing Strength?: Don't know. I've been told I can weave a compelling plot.

Favorite Authors: Too many to count, really. Stephen King, JRR Tolkien, Shakespeare, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Edgar Allen Poe.....

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Hawk

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: Fact, but entirely too fickle for my taste

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: Uh, hello everyone. This is my first time with this particular game. I hope to meet some good people, and have a lot of fun. Also, I hope to get some of my random friends and family members to stop bothering me about how I should be writing.

Getting To Know You Meme

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: The working title is Chequamegon.

Goal for your Word Count: 50K, of course!

Number of Years Participated in Nano: This would be my first year as anything more than a spectator.

Favorite Writing Spot: Outdoors, except the weather now is so bad. I'll have to find a new favorite spot...

Favorite Time to Write: Whenever I have a spare second. I'm not a night owl, though.

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: I miss my typewriter. My computer is the substitute.

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: The current plan is a horror/mystery/fantasy set in good ol' Phillips, WI and the titular forest surrounding.

Five of Your Favorite Words: hyperbole, schmetterling (nobody said it had to be English!), cthonic, eponymous, grin

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: Play Final Fantasy X, X-2, or XII. Yes, I'm that big of a nerd. They kind of inspire me.

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: I'm not sure what those are.

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): Muted; music just distracts me.

Favorite Genre: Fantasy and Sci-Fi.

Pirates or Ninjas?: Pirates--ninjas are boring.

Do You Save Everything You Write: No, I do occasionally do a mass shred/burn. I save certain rare things, though.

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: at classes; doing homework; working; taking care of the husband, house, and animals; cooking; playing Wii; working out; visiting my parents near Madison, etc etc.

What Is Your Writing Strength?: Description. I will make you think you're there--wherever "there" is.

Favorite Authors: Margaret Atwood, Richard Adams, Stephen King sometimes, Octavia E. Butler, Philip Pullman, Susanna Clark...too many to name them all here!

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: whitetailed deer

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: Probably fact, though I wouldn't know one if it bit me on the nose.

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: Hmm...can't think of anything at the moment. I'm super-busy this semester, so if I finish it'll be miraculous. Good luck everyone!

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: .... ? (most likely a quote from lyrics or a poem)

Goal for your Word Count: 50K!!

Number of Years Participated in Nano: First dedicated attempt this year. =)

Favorite Writing Spot: A comfy chair. I had a few specific spots in the Coe College Writing Center before graduating and moving back to Milw.

Favorite Time to Write: Midday seems to be frequently productive, or during an insomniac night. Mostly I write in evenings or late night.

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: Computer is my favorite, now, but I like the notebook/misc paper scraps and a pen/marker/pencil as well. It always feels good to transfer the pen-and-paper writing to the computer, too since I can type so fast. =D

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: I'm thinking I'll be doing a fanfic this year. I've always wanted to do a long story based off the tv show The Dead Zone.

Five of Your Favorite Words: momonga [Japanese for "flying squirrel"], riccockulous [trying to spell phonetically a made-up word], sociology, quixotic, colloquial.

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: Knit, scrapbook, other art. Word puzzles (I LOVE cryptograms), read, watch movies or tv, make music playlists... Just about anything.

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: Both.

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): Music~! I have a pretty broad selection. I'm going to try going for a more instrumental focus for upcoming writing (so movie soundtracks, opening themes, etc. I highly recommend the music for 28 Days Later and Stay.)

Favorite Genre: Mystery, Medieval fantasy, certain sci-fi

Pirates or Ninjas?: For the moment I'd go with ninjas.

Do You Save Everything You Write: Yup. Heck, it just about killed me to throw away a tome of notes from AP European history that I uncovered last week. I definitely keep my creative writing around in many forms.

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: Sleeping. Watching tv/movies (tv genres: mystery, crime dramas, mostly). Playing video games (currently replaying Final Fantasy IX). Knitting.

What Is Your Writing Strength?: Dialogue/voices/interaction between characters.

Favorite Authors: Tamora Pierce, Brian Jacques, Sherwood Smith, D.B. Borton

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: snow leopard, tiger, or maybe even a wolf.

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: Fact! They take over characters sometimes and lead them wandering off in a previously uncharted direction. Totally can screw with you, but at the same time helpful... Contradictory buggers.

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: I'm a little nervous about this but I purchased No Plot? No Problem! last month and reading it got me stoked to truly try this. Since I'm newly graduated, without a job, and anxiously awaiting acceptance to grad school - well - I might as well give myself something to push for.

Well, one of my first goals this year is to learn not to hit the post key TWICE because I believe the computer is moving too slow!...Don't they believe in delete keys around here? Anywhoooo..
Anticipated Title of Your Nano: no idea yet

Goal for your Word Count: Umm...I expect the story to tell me when I'm finished...how's that for a political answer?

Favorite Writing Spot: Curled up in a chair in my office

Favorite Time to Write: mid afternoon and late evening

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: a little of both...mostly pen & paper though

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: A mid grade, humorous look at mothers with a little paranormal thrown in for good luck

Five of Your Favorite Words: I don't have time to copy the dictionary and to select a mere five would be painful

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: I don't usually.

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: EWEEE...that's a personal preference...I prefer not

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): music.MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC! It depends upon my mood. Sometimes Fleetwood Mac, sometimes Maxwell, sometimes Steely Dan or Toby Keith

Favorite Genre: children's fiction

Pirates or Ninjas?: Pirates!

Do You Save Everything You Write: Ahhhh...sometimes I've been known to throw it away in a fit of artistic temper...and then I want it back later...you'd think I'd learn, wouldn't ya?

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: gardening, knitting or daydreaming about writing

What Is Your Writing Strength?: I think my humor...no wait...come back...I swear I'm funny....

Favorite Authors: Diana Gabaldon

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Oh, gee, most animals I can think of don't have it very easy...so I'll choose a unicorn...as long as all of their magic came with the outfit
Muses: Fact or Fiction?:Mostly fact...but wierder things have happened than me having a fictional muse or two

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: Hello! MY name is Connie and my husband Paul and I have been married and traveling with the military for over 30 years. We have finally retired and settled in Wisconsin. I have been writing since grade school and the pencil just never left my hands...we have six children, 3 dogs, 4 cats and many birds...anything else, you are free to ask!

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: "Portrich," is my stand-in title.

Goal for your Word Count: 50,000 in November, but I'll probably write 10-25,000 more later.

Number of Years Participated in Nano: One; this'll be my second.

Favorite Writing Spot: In the rafters of the garage… in the summer, anyway. (It's too cold in the winter.)

Favorite Time to Write: Anytime I can't write.

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: Pen and paper for plots (and when I write during Math Class
-cough-), Computer for everything else.

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: 2,000 words a day.

Five of Your Favorite Words: Lackey, puissance, nondescript, subterfuge, and whitlow (yeah, I know its meaning isn't very glamorous) are just a few.

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: Read, but I've never had bad writer's block.

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: Both. They love to disturb my sleep, but they're still genius.

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): Usually muted, but sometimes I'll turn on Elton John.

Favorite Genre: Satire.

Pirates or Ninjas?: Pirates.

Do You Save Everything You Write: Yup!

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: Messing around with computers or doing homework.

What Is Your Writing Strength?: Description!

Favorite Authors: J.K. Rowling, Chris d'Lacy, Oscar Wilde

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Seagull.

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: Fact.

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: "Each other" should be one word.

Getting To Know You Meme

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: I never give stories a title until they're done...

Goal for your Word Count: 50,000-55,000

Number of Years Participated in Nano: Last year was my first year, and I'm hoping to have another win this year!

Favorite Writing Spot: Nowhere near my computer (oh, Facebook dooms me)

Favorite Time to Write: While my husband plays WoW.

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: Colorful pens and wide-rule 5-subject notebooks. I'm picky.

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: I'm aiming for 2,000 a day, every day... but I'll probably procrastinate and end up writing the last 15,000 words in four days.

Five of Your Favorite Words: plethora, melancholy, marquis, feline, indeed

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: Drink a great deal of tea and pace while ranting about my stopped-up brain.

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: I'm going to go with Deliciously Evil, because the NaNo I'm going to be writing is NOT the one I had an outline for three days ago.

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): The music depends on the story. This year I plan on a lot of Blackmore's Night and dangerously piratical instrumental stuff. I do so adore a good swashbuckling...

Favorite Genre: Fantasy. Frequently YA Fantasy.

Pirates or Ninjas?: Pirates. Ninjas don't get rum and treasure. Also they lack swashbuckling (see above).

Do You Save Everything You Write: Unfortunately. And embarrassingly.

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: Reading. Watching TV. Wandering the internet. Cooking. Sewing costumes... and I wish the sewing happened more often.

What Is Your Writing Strength?: Hopefully, description, because my dialogue is terribly weak.

Favorite Authors: Neil Gaiman, Charles deLint, Patricia Wrede, Anne Bishop, J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Jane Austen

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Housecat. Fed, spoiled, asleep all day? Yes, please...

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: I believe that there are little muses for everything... not one great Muse alone.

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: There is no such thing as too many books, whether they be on my bookshelves or in my head.

Goal for your Word Count: at least 25,000, preferably more

Number of Years Participated in Nano: this is my first official Nano, although I've "audited" for the last 3 years while my wife & friends were participating

Favorite Writing Spot: on my couch at home with the laptop on a TV tray, or at Borders or Moondance if I'm not at home

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: a short story collection, actually

Five of Your Favorite Words: mystery, clandestine, autumnal, incommunicado, vault(the noun)

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: ask others what they do to cure it, then try their methods until one works

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: good, I don't get a lot of them, so I'm always grateful for what I get

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): Music. Depends on the genre, since lately I've been writing fantasy I listen to classical, old school prog-rock (Rush,ELO,Yes), Fairport Convention(Celtic folk-rock),LOTR soundtracks.

Favorite Genre:To write:fantasy; To read:horror

Pirates or Ninjas?: Pirates(so long as they live up to the code of Captain Blood)

Do You Save Everything You Write:yeah

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…:spending time with family, reading, watching movies....I should be spending more time on my art

What Is Your Writing Strength?: action scenes, tight plotting

Favorite Authors: Stephen King (!!!), Edgar Allen Poe, and William Shakespeare.

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Cougar.

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: Fact. They’re also known as angels.

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: I'm awful at titles, so I have no idea right now

Goal for your Word Count: 50,000+ I think that it will end up being more, but as a first timer, I'm not sure I can really grasp the magnitude of 50,000

Number of Years Participated in Nano: This is my first year

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: I will be attempting to do justice to dual perspectives on a series of events

Five of Your Favorite Words: a, an, the, and, or

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: Weep openly, occasionally there are sackcloth and ashes

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: What's that now?

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): Music, typically I listen to acoustic versions of punk/rock songs or bands

Favorite Genre: I love young adult fiction. It is what I teach and what I write.

Pirates or Ninjas?: Ninjas for quick-strike ability and sneakiness

Do You Save Everything You Write: Even in editing/revising I 'Save As' so that I still have my original ideas.

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: Playing, writing, recording music

What Is Your Writing Strength?: Ideas...my favorite part of the writing process is brainstorming plot, setting, characters, etc.

Favorite Authors: Too many

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: Cheetah

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: I don't understand what this is asking

Anything Else You’d Like to Add?: 7+34=41

Anticipated Title of Your Nano: Speaking Of

Goal for your Word Count: 50,000. If I can make that, it'll all be good.

Number of Years Participated in Nano: This is my third year. I would have won last year if not for the Dreadful Computer Crash of November 30th. We don't talk about that.

Favorite Writing Spot: The basement. It's isolated from the rest of my very loud family.

Favorite Time to Write: Two o'clock in the morning. It's when my muses insist that I write, and I usually end up getting good things out of that. Sleep is for the weak.

Computer, Typewriter, or Pen&Paper: Computer. I can reformat and add things far more easily. I do, however, always have a pen and paper just in case.

Your Plan For Your Novel This Year: Um.. I know the end? I don't know how to start it or how I'm getting there, but I have all (okay, knowing me, about half) of my characters all set and sort of maybe a plot? We'll see how this goes.

Five of Your Favorite Words: Muffin, mauve, however, periwinkle and incandescent.

What Do You Do When You Get Writer’s Block: I have so many projects I don't get Writer's block; I just switch to staring that the screen of a different project.

Plot Bunnies – Good or Evil?: Both. They are wonderful gifts from the writing gods when you have no plot, and evil little hellions that need to be exterminated when you already have a plot. Characters, I have found, like conspiring with the more evil of plot bunnies.

Muted, or Music? (and if the latter, what do you listen to?): It entirely depends on what I'm writing and from whose point of view. My narrator for NaNo this year refuses to talk to me if I'm listening to music while writing. She's kind of a bitch.

Favorite Genre: YOU MAKE ME PICK ONE? FIENDS! Probably urban fantasy right now, followed by Old, Pompous and British, high fantasy, steampunk and crime noir. I mostly write urban fantasy, though, I think?

Pirates or Ninjas?: Ninjas. This is a silly question.

Do You Save Everything You Write: Compulsively. My NaNo last year was lost on the last day when I was five thousand words and twelve hours away from finishing. My computer crashed and I lost twenty thousand words. I learned my lesson.

When You’re Not Writing, You’re…: Watching NCIS reruns, sleeping, eating, drinking loooooots of tea and procrastinating.

What Is Your Writing Strength?: I'm really good at dialogue, I've been told. Which, unfortunately, does not translate to giant wordcounts. Dammit.

Favorite Authors: Jim Butcher, Jane Austin, Rob Thurman, Charles Dickens, Raymond E. Fiest, Tolkien, Robert Louis Stevenson.

If You Could Be Any Animal, You’d Be A: House cat. It's probably the most snobbish and sneaky of all animals. You may think your cat loves you, but it doesn't. It always wants to kill you.

Muses: Fact or Fiction?: Fact. My muses are very fickle things and a lot of them are big divas who demand certain brands of tea, types of music and specifically shaped cookies to work with me. They'll be asking for their own trailers next, I swear.
