Since the Tea Spot closed, I've been wondering about new locations for writing. I've become a big fan of the Tea Box at Pearl & 15th. Let me know if you've approached them about being a write-in location, and if not I'll do it. See you all in November.

The Tea Box is our usual Tuesday afternoon write-in location. I am sure they would love to have you! Tenaya, vortexae, and I have been writing there on Tuesdays from noon to 3:00pm. They are very supportive.

If you wish to do a write-in other than the Tuesday afternoon, one I say go for it! You can mention it to them specifically, if you like, but I think they would just love to see the shop being used. However, in late Oct, they plan a 2-3 day renovation, so they will be closed for a little bit. I think they will be open again for NaNo, or soon after it starts anyway.

Our write-in back-up plan on Tuesdays, in case of Tea Box closure, is to go down to the back room at The Cup, which is a few doors down (east) of the Tea Box.

Good luck!

Because I live in Longmont, I also do write-ins at Vic's Espresso at 600 S. Airport Rd. (303)666-1402. Are there any Longmont WriMos out there who'd like to suggest a time for a write-in or two?

I also will be hanging out at Vic's Espresso as Writer in Residence again this year. (Well, same location, different shop. Use to be Deja Brew sniff!) Tentative hours for my residency are Monday and Wed, 10:00 to 12:00 and Sunday 12:00 to 2:00.

The Writer in Residence gig is just to let WriMos in the area come and write or talk about your novels, get advice, or just blow off steam. Whatever makes sense. If we get a diverse crowd, we can break into two tables: one for talkin' and one for writin'.

We can even use the Writer in Residence hours for write-ins. I've already approached the staff about it, and they seem cool. I'll be talking with the owner, Rob, by the end of October to let him know, but I do not foresee any problems with meeting there at any time.

I'm in Longmont, but I have a day job so I would only be around on weekend or weekday evening (after 7) write-ins.

Something compatible with that would be most excellent.

Great. I'm there today and talked to Chris. He's thrilled to have us there, but wasn't aware it was already happening (or was confused). I'll see you there on Tuesdays, and other days most likely. He mentioned Sunday mornings are a good time too for those that need weekend writing spots.

I'll be to the Longmont write-in's at Vic's Espresso! I live about three blocks from there, so it's a very easy location to get to. ;) Looking forward to it! I haven't ever had time in the past years to get to any write-in's, so this will be a new experience. :D

One of the baristas/tea-steepers from The Tea Spot is now working at the new Pekoe's (which was Joe's Espresso) in Steelyards - that's at 30th round about the Mapleton BOUND bus stop. Last time I was in, he asked me, "So where are the writers going to meet this year?" I told him downtown is probably going to remain the favorite location, but I'd try to push for company here! Pekoe @ Steelyards is open by 6 AM every weekday morning, not sure about weekends. I have been trying to get better at arriving early and writing early. They close at 6 PM on weekdays, 4 on weekends, and are next door to the most interestingly furbished Thai restaurant in Boulder (Elephant Hut).

There is of course a Vic's just north of that, on 30th in Diagonal Plaza.

A location that I think would be ideal is Crepes A La Carte on Broadway a few doors north of Pearl. A good friend tells me that they are open until a ridiculously late hour on weekends and maybe midnight on weekdays. They have community-style seating, wi-fi of their own, a selection of alcohol for those who imbibe but all-ages welcome nevertheless, and of course their crepes are divine.

A new dining location this year is the Baker Street Pub, on 28th above Canyon where Chili's used to be. They have wi-fi and there seem to be a good number of outlets. I would avoid them on Trivia Night (I think that's Wednesday) however - very full and loud and hard to get seated.

IHOP is of course traditional. It's back to being really truly 24/7 last time I checked.

And if you have a long-lived battery and can stand a little noise and like the bar atmosphere, Conor O'Neill's is not a bad place to get some writing done.

If the New Orleans Saints are playing, I will probably be at Harpo's on 29th and Arapahoe, pretending to write but more likely just yelling at the TV screen.

I'll be spending my writing time at either the Longmont Public Library or the Carbon Valley Regional Library [in Firestone/Frederick]. CVR is a little closer to home and nicer so I'll probably be there in Study Room B as often as possible with my discreet stash of chocolate and caffeine.

Libraries are awesome. I would be happy to come write at the library any old time.

I forgot to mention Healing Tea. That's on Arapahoe at 33rd (next building over from Karlequin's Game Knight, in case that's a useful landmark). They serve many kinds of tea and very yummy Korean food. Also baked goods like cookies and cakes, all of which are gluten free (in case that is a concern). They are open Mondays through Saturdays from 11 or noon to 5 or 6 (depending on the day).

In that new condo complex on Arapahoe, there appears to be a new cafe at 38th. Haven't been in yet.

I'm new to Boulder, and I don't know a lot of these locations, but I'll try to find them. I'll probably be spending a lot of time at the library on Fridays and weekends, and I'm definitely looking for other writer-friendly locations, particularly ones that serve tea. The only times I'm not free for write ins are from 2 to 7 Monday through Wednesday and from 2 until 10 on Thursday. I'm really excited for the month to start and the action to begin!

Of late, my hours at work have been jumping around a lot, but I've been doing a lot of plotting at the Human Bean on North Hover in Longmont. It's just a little North of 17th, and faces right onto Hover. The hours, obviously, vary from morning to closing (at ten), but I'd be happy to discuss something more. I'm about to hit the sack for today, but when I'm over there next I'll pin down the manager or owner and chat them up about nano, since I've been remiss and haven't yet.

As for Longmont Write-ins, I will keep an eye on them, but the North end of town is usually better for me, time-wise, so we'll see what I can do.

I'm in Longmont and usually can't do any write-ins or anything during the weekdays, any time after 6 is usually better, as long as I don't have my kids that night. The nights I have my kids varies day to day, the ex and I are on a 4 day rotation schedule, so at least this year I will have time to write. A lot of times when I go out to write I go over to Borders on Hover across from the Twin Peaks mall. I don't know how'd they'd respond to Nano getting groups together there from time to time since I've only done solo writing. One person writing doesn't seem to bother them but than of course I know one of the higher ups at that store. They have a nice little cafe, coffee isn't bad, I haven't tried any of their baked goods. Maybe we can set up a meet and greet somewhere before November starts.

Sounds like we have more Longmonters this year interested in write-ins and meet and greets!

I will be back in town on the 28th, so any time after that, I'd love to participate in a meet & greet. I'll start a new topic about that so we can get some ideas rolling on just that. Please feel free to arrange an earlier meet if you are getting antsy. Just post it to the meet and greet thread, which I will start as soon as I post this.

As far as write-ins (the topic of this thread), I would like to get some going both during the week and on weekends. I've heard people mention the follow Longmont locales, which are all good:

The Human Bean -- I haven't been there yet, but I believe Alex when he says its conducive to writing. Alex, let us know what feedback you get about have a bunch of writers there. I am guessing that they would love to have us. If you could post their hours here, that would be good.

Borders at Hover Road -- I've been here. It is open until 9:00pm, I believe -- if someone knows the exact hours pleas post them here. I bet they wouldn't mind us meeting there for writing or meet & greets. Faewing, could you check teh hours and propose times for write-ins here and a meet & greet time on the meet & greet thread (which I will start in a moment if it isn't started yet.)

Longmont Library -- this is a good spot. I believe it is open to 9pm as well. Would the person who posted that they write at teh library suggest write-in hours and a possible meet & greet time? Ck the new meet & greet thread.

Vic's Espresso -- hours are 6am to 6pm, so it is good for weekdays and weekends. I suggest we try a meet and greet there on Saturday, 10/31 from 2pm tp 4pm. I'll happily host that. I'll post that on the m&g thread. For write-ins, I'll be there Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 to 12 and Sundays from 12 to 2. I am open to other hours. Please suggest them in this thread.

Please add more places to the list, if you like. I would happily come to North or East Longmont to join you!

I'll contact my friend who works there and ask him about it all tonight, and I believe the hours are 10-9...I thought maybe it was 10 but they changed their hours a while back so I'll get back to ya all on the times.

I love doing work and writing in both the Longmont Brewing Market right off of Hover and Ken Pratt and Ziggis off of Main in Longmont. I will definitely be hitting up both locations at some point this year.
As for Boulder locations the only writing spots I've been to are Logans Cafe and Amante both off of North Broadway. Both are a little crowded though, or at least have been in previous experiences.
I have always meant to stop by the Eye Opener in Niwot, just a few blocks from my home, but I don't think they are open very late.

Borders in Longmont is a no go I think. The management never answered my friend's request. Plus the management is now mad at him cause he is stepping down cause they've been blaming him for all the problems lately instead of the people who actually caused the problems and bad business.

That's too bad, Faewing. Can you make it to Brewing Market or Vic's? Brewing Market is open until , but Vic's is only open until 6pm (if I remember correctly, you wanted a evening write-in).

I can get to Brewing Market in the evening at least once during NaNoWriMo!

I could ask at the "new" Barnes & Nobles location in Boulder (Pearl/30th), see how they feel about hordes of writers descending on them and their Starbucks and their free (really free!) wi-fi. I think they kept their hours from the previous location, and they have a lot more room to sit around with laptops--in addition to their tables and chairs they have a free-standing fireplace with a wide, "sit on me" hearth on all four sides.

I can't imagine they'd have any problems with us showing up.

The Borders in Boulder (29th St. Mall) has more room in their cafe area, but their wi-fi is not free. It may be possible to log onto the free Macerich wi-fi that's supposedly available all over the 29th St. Mall, but when I last checked they had aggressive web filters in place. (No games! No social networking sites! No video! No music!)

Speaking of filtering, does anyone know if the Denny's in Boulder still has that very eccentric filter on their wi-fi?

Hey, I live in Nederland...it's west of Boulder, in the mountains, for those of you who don't know. I would love it if any of you would be willing to come up here to write? I work at a small bakery up here, and we have free internet access. I would love to meet some novelists there!
Anybody on here from Nederland? I would love to hear back from you!

Yay! Another NaNo writer in Nederland! This will be my 3rd NaNoWriMo. I would love to write together up here! Can you write on Monday Nov. 2nd? Maybe 9 or 10 am til noon or 1? Any interest in meeting at the New Moon Bakery? (Which coffee shop do you work at?)

I have gone to the Panera in Boulder's 29th Street Mall, and Flatirons Coffee (formerly Peaberrys) on the corner of 28th & Arapahoe to do most of my writing the last two years. Flatirons Coffee has free wi-fi, I'm not sure about Panera since I haven't been there in months.

Plus, Flatirons is now an independent, locally roasted coffee, fun place to be! They even has an extended plug-in strip so more of us can use our computers at the tables further away from the wall.
They also have several shelves of books that you can look through. It is a 'take a book - leave a book' situation. I think that's pretty cool.

I hope to see others there.

Hey, Lady Doom. Flatirons sounds cool. What are your usual hours? Perhaps I can swing by sometime this month.

That's great news about Flatirons! I'm not a big Peaberry's fan, so I haven't been by close enough to see that the place has changed its name. According to this article in the Daily Camera, it happened fairly recently and entirely unexpectedly!

http://www.dailycamera.com/business-columnists/ci_13369533

According to a Yelp restaurant review, the hours are as follows:

Mon-Thu. 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Fri. 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Sat. 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Sun. 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

I think I'll be heading there after work (so after 6pm) most week days, and I hope to be there most of the day on Sundays. :)
You'll know me by the cane resting nearby... I was hit by a car a couple weeks ago and am still having a hard time walking.
