Hello one and all Alabama North Wrimos,
Here's just a note to let you all know that we have plans for our kick-off ready.
Since the AL Ren Fair is the week before Halloween this year, we've decided to do the kick-off on Sunday, November 1. This avoids Halloween festivities on Sat. night, a great day to party with the ghosts, goblins, et al.
We will plan to meet in the side room at the Tai Pan Chinese restaurant, at 2012 Memorial Parkway SW, just South of the corner of Governor's Drive and the Parkway if you are heading South. Tai Pan has a great buffet. The luncheon kick-off will be dutch treat, about $8.50 including a drink. The manager has also said that non-diners are welcome to join and can order just soft drinks or tea if they wish.
Let's plan to meet at 11:30 AM, November 1 at Tai Pan. We will have Wrimo goody bags and are planning to increase the number available this year to 36, first come, first served. We will stay at Tai Pan until about 1 PM.
After lunch, we plan to go to the cafe at Books A Million for a write-in for an hour or two or more.
Feel free to bring your Wrimo support group to the luncheon, but we will reserve goody bags for writers, thanks.
Looking forward to seeing you all again and meeting our new Wrimos,
Amy

Fantastic! We're already working on the goodie bags, too.
By the way, the Books A Million for the write-in following the kick-off is the one on North Parkway. It has a huge cafe although we don't know yet about electric outlets available, so charge up first!

Unfortunately I will not be able to make the kick off meeting. It is my son's birthday and I'll be driving him back to school. Drats! I would like to be kept up to date on the write-ins though.

I understand Aubur has a nanowrimo group and some of the best coffee shops/book stores around. I really liked the Gnu Room close to the Amsterdam Cafe.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to make it to the kick-off. Even though I really, really love Chinese food. I will be there in spirit, though, typing away at my house.
I'll be at the Renaissance Faire this weekend, so if any of you are there, and you recognize me from my avatar, feel free to say hello. (And remind me of who you are, haha.) At the faire, you'll note the black haired girl to one side and the tall blond to my other: that's my writing group.

I hope I will be able to join you - it would be great to connect with other writers in the area. Right now my writing group is ME. But man oh man do we have fun!
My family and I always make try to make the fair. Thank you so much for posting the dates. For some reason I was thinking it was in November.

I would LOVE to be there but our church is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a big shindig at Burritt Museum (the little white church up there is our old church) on that very day. My hubs and I plan on making it to the write-ins this year, though! Thank you, Amy and Bryan, for being our fearless leaders for another year in a row :)

I am afraid I will not be able to make it. I think my family has plans for that Sunday, but we will see. I hope to make it to some later this month though. This is my first year and I can hardly wait for November!
----------(I am trying to cut all contractions out of my typing in order to up my word count come November first, but it is alot harder than I expected. I would have used about eight in just this small post if I were not trying to avoid them.)

I can't be at the kick-off Sunday either but I'm participating again this year. Lord only knows what I'm going to write though. Maybe I can ask Him at church Sunday. LOL!
Hope to participate in write-ins after Sunday. Last year was such fun -- especially that moment on November 29 when I hit 50K words. It can be done!

Unfortunately, I will not make it. My support structure is a wife (and stay at home mom) who is supportive as long as it doesn't take away from "family time". So I will be doing most of my writing at night (after kids in bed) and during down times at work. I will try to get to a few write-ins though since this is my first time doing a NaNoWriMo.

This is my first year and I would really like to go. I have lived in Alabama since 2003 but I'm going to be really honest and say that directions/geography isn't my forte. Can someone please tell me where you are talking about? At this point, I don't even know what city you are going to be in. I think its Huntsville. Did I guess right!? :D I would be coming from Boaz so directions would be awesome. If I can't make it to the restaurant, I'd still like to go to the write-in. Is that allowed? Hopefully, I'll see you Sunday.
