That does look like a really handy list, Chris. I think I'll have to give it a go, since you pointed out that it really helps you find your character's voice, and I *am* trying to write a cosy character piece this year.

My favourite site of late is this:

Archetype Writing

All kinds of interesting Jungian notions of how to put together your story are here, but my favourite part is the "Muse" section. Included here are some Story Starters and Idea Generators that give you quick randomly generated plots, characters, and "everyday problems" to help you out. Fun stuff!

Okay, this is something that I mentioned at the pre-writeins - the Evil Rulers' archetype lists - sort of a cliche-busting guide for survival in genre stories. Can be full of ideas for your story, whether you're deliberately doing a tribute to cliche fantasy, (or science fiction) or trying to subvert them.

I can't find the original site, so I took some copies that I downloaded long ago and reformatted them to put up. I didn't originate any of the lists myself.

this is an excel document that helps you keep track of your progress. I've used it, and I love it.

Geocities is down now, so have a new link for the "Top 100 Most Important Things To Know About Your Character" list. Just in case.

Thanks for these amazing links. Using the Excel chart already (and being chastised already too... lol!)
