Hello Fellow Denver-area-lites.
I am Alyssa, I work at the South West Plaza Mall, and I work there everyday! So the way I plan on succeeding this year is by novelizing everyday in Borders Cafe, with their gracious free wifi and GREAT Coffee.
Making this a specific post so I can snag those of you who live close!
I am extremely friendly, and have a lot of enthusiasm for this year.
For anyone who may be in the area some time in November be sure to Message me, or email me at Lilacbreeze@live.com
I'm happy to exchange a photo, or make plans!
:D Happy October NaNos, Let's make this planning time count!

Hi! I love SW Plaza Mall and I would love to write there a few times in November. Will you do this at lunchtime-y hours or after work or a combination of times? I'd be interested in hearing when you're planning to write. I might be able to get a babysitter for my four year old or, shock of shocks, I may actually be able to get my husband to watch her!

I'm really close to the SW Plaza Mall and was almost disappointed because we don't really fit into the West or South side of Denver. We are the black hole also known as Littleton. I'm available on weekends sometimes and would love to meet some people for support during the want to shoot myself in the head phase of November.

Ditto! I live where Lakewood, Morrison, and Littleton meet so would love to join up with folks on this side of the area!

Are there times that are likely to be good? For myself, I'd also like to go to the meetups on Saturdays at the Golden Borders (but not necessarily all of them) but I can also make it later on some weeknights (like a 7-9 or something like that) or during mall hours on Sunday. Does anyone else have time suggestions?

Are you guys kidding me? I'm about a block and a half south of the Mall. I'll be composing my entire novel within a brick's throw of the place anyway, so hopping over there at any point shouldn't be a problem. Be sure to post times, and I'll find a way to be there (midweek will work best).

Ran into Alyssa at the mall today. She's right; she is indeed extremely friendly. My first live NaNo contact. Very cool. I'm psyching up for the write-ins at the Cafe next month.
This thing just keeps getting better. . . .

Just to let everyone know, I live only a couple of blocks away; I am prepping for Nano there a lot lately. My name is Kathy, I'm typically there with my laptop and an ever-expanding pile of notes, references, and other books. I am typically there from around noon to 4 (or later) during the week. If anyone would like to do a pre-nano meet and greet there in the next couple weeks I would be completely up for that. (if weekends or evening are better for you; I have a flexible schedule, so whenever is good) I hope to see some of y'all there!

Ah, sweet! It's wonderful to see so many - how did beeloverly put it? - Black Hole NaNos. I would also love to join in on any write-a-thons, but unfortunately for me, I have a brand-new baby in the house and he does not take "quiet time in the stationary stroller" very well. If there is ever anyone going to the SWP Borders on Saturdays, I might be able to entreat the spousal unit to take said Captain Fusspot for me so I can escape for a little coffee and tappity-tappity.
Hope to see some of you next month!

I haven't been responding to the e-mail notifications I've been getting, because I already have a strong support group at christianwriters.com. But Scott's recent post there intrigued me, and maybe you'll be seeing more of me from now on. I participated last year, won, and finished The Justice Coalition, using the pen name Victor Travison. My real name is Dave Kissling, but I don't use it because I think people will have the wrong expectations about science fiction and fantasy by someone named Kissling.
I live near Colfax and Kipling, so it should be no problem hopping on the 100 bus to come to SW Mall and meet everyone in person. This year I'll be working on a sequel titled Let No Man Put Asunder, dealing with some issues I left open in the first book. Let me know when (weekday evenings would be perfect), and I'll see if I can be there.

Hello! Alyssa again (I know, I blame the coffee for my enthusiasm)
Who all plans on bringing a laptop? If you don't have one, I will see what I can do about bringing one extra to lend.
On another note!
I will be affixing a Nanowrimo Sign to my laptop in a few days, so seriously, SAY HELLO!
I love love meeting new people, and I hope we can convince some random people to join the crusades.
Best of luck.
I'll put you on the list for Sunday :) Can';t wait to see ya!

A "Plot-o-thon?" If nothing else, I LOVE NaNoWriMo for the great terminology it generates. I can't wait to see what sort of animal this is. . . .

The meet-n-greet at Borders yesterday was a great time. It's always pleasant to find that you're not the only person afflicted with this particular strain of insanity known as "writing" (though I did see a few other varied forms of insanity I'm not willing to cop to just yet. . . . ;-). Everyone was very nice, very encouraging . . . and very tolerant, especially when I managed to dub myself "stupid" in front of the whole group inside of 60 seconds. It was a sincere pleasure meeting and interacting with everyone who attended. I'm looking forward to our next get-together.
I have to say, we have a phenomenal person "leading" this regional bunch of Wrimos. Look past the quantonium energy levels, the feline pantomimes, the endless parade of minimalist webart (some of which is pretty hilarious, actually), and you'll find an intelligent and enthusiastic author ready to spring herself on the world. I was very impressed with her leadership and drive to succeed. And with her impression of J.K. Rowling interviewing Harry Potter. That was cool.
BUUUBBBLLLLEEES! My bubbles.

Thank you very much Scott! You have indeed managed to make me smile :)
I also would like to say that yesterday's meeting was a success, all things considered.
While I have many more things to mention, I believe I will open a new thread (This one can be closed MLs) for each meeting, with the date. And I will open that new one with wild and awesome stories from the previous one (So it is easy to get involved)
Anyone who is reading this who did not attend, feel free to Nanomail me to get involved!

Is anyone up for a write-in at the SW Plaza Borders some weeknight this week? (I missed all the pre-November stuff because I have a 3 (almost 4) year old and we were run off our feet with Halloween celebrations, but I hear it was a great time!) About the earliest I could be there is 6:30 or 7:00 because of my husband's work schedule, so he can watch our daughter.
Anybody down for that? I'd love to do it as soon as tonight, though I give myself a D on giving people advance notice.

I could certainly be down with meeting up there tonight (or perhaps other evenings, depending on the day.) I can certainly be there tonight around 6:30 - 7-ish, and my husband (who is also trying out Nano this year) will probably show up at some point, too. I hope others might be able to stop by!

Well, I double-checked it with my husband to see when he could come home from work tonight to watch our daughter, so I should be in the Borders at SW Plaza tonight (Monday, Nov. 2) somewhere around 6:45-7:00. I will probably stay until 8:15-8:30 so I can get home for her bedtime. I hope some of you can make it! I'll be the lady with longish brown hair swearing under her breath at a Toshiba laptop with a Nano crest sticker on the back of it.

I'd also be interested in a meet-up here. I'm on the bus so some of the others on the south side of town are a little awkward to get to.
I don't know how well it would do as a write-in though, unless a lot of people are willing to go sans cords. If I remember right, the coffee shop area only has one outlet. (If there are more, tell me where!=l=)
Or perhaps one or more of us could bring power strips?
