Any suggestions for a good kick-off party location. Lets try and get it resolved a week before so well can plan for it. Look to see everyone.

Yes! Is there anyone who would be willing to take this on? I am actually going to TN for the last week in October. My youngest sister is getting married on Halloween and I am making her wedding cake. This means I will be a little busy and not able to plan a kick off party, but we should definitely have one.

I'll plan a really great TGIO party!

I can't plan it--I'm a little limited since I'm at home with my two preschoolers all day, but I would DEFINITELY love to attend! I'm in Concord, so it would be great if at least one of our activities was at the north end of Charlotte.

I wouldn't mind helping/planning the kick-off party if only to make up for being such a FAIL ML last year. ;)

I can't really help plan/even attend a kick off party. I'm just a sophomore in High School, and Nanowrimo is (sad to say) secondary to school and band. But I'd love to hear about the party after!

Hi, All!

I'm not local to Charlotte--I live in Advance more than an hour north of the city. So I have no suggestions to offer about where to party, other than a plea that the location be easy to get to relative to the freeways, etc. and not buried somewhere in the middle of the city where I won't be able to find it. That said...

LET'S PARTY!!!

I just got back from a Donald Maass Breakout Intensive Workshop in San Antonio and came back with my brains fried from fabulous input overload. But it means that I am starting all over on my story. I'm going to use NaNoWriMo to kick start me on that new draft. I hope!!!

So...someone smarter than me about good party venues in Charlotte needs to figure out the where and when. I'll just show up with confetti!!

Starting the countdown...

Maureen

Thanks! I agree we should try and find locations close to the freeways when possible for travelers. I'll gladly let you take this over. Just let us know as soon as possible when, where and what you need people to bring. I've started a google calendar and will post it on here sometime today so everyone will have access to it.

Yeah, sorry to give you a heart attack. I read what I wanted to read :) Then I couldn't log back onto the sight and fix it.

Any other takers?

Well, I am totally willing to host and plan the Kick-Off party, but there seems to be no participants. Is anyone even interested in doing this anymore?

not sure what you're basing the "no participant" count on? the calendar, maybe? i'm definitely interested in a kick-off party, just can't make a firm commitment until I know the particulars. Have to get childcare/talk my husband into taking the kids first. :)

rnicolehaystan - I think Tracy (justtra) is just refering to the lack of response to her posts here.

Tracy - Good to see you back again this year! I have to agree with rnicolehaystan, I'm also interested in a kick-off party and so is my daughter. Just let us know the particulars.

Good to see you too, Cheri!

Yup, I was talking about the lack of participation and info from the thread. I put the event in my Google calendar, but I don't see where it says who is coming?

I will email solstice1974 and see what's up.

My idea so far is to have the shindig at my house, low-key, whatnot, but I need a lot more details and such to be able to do it right!

I would like to do something this Friday from 7pm to 9 or 10pm, but need to find a location. Things keep falling through. Put it on your calendars and I will hopefully have a place by tomorrow night and will let you know where. :) Thanks for being patient with me!

I'll be flying in from France on Friday night, so I'm not sure if I can make it but I'll try... we'll see how jet-lagged I am. Anything further set in stone as for the place and time?

hmmm, am I missing the rest of this thread? I'm going to start another post based on me not seeing a place or anything for this party...

We finally have a confirmed location. We will have the kick off party this Friday, October 23 at the Davis Lake Clubhouse from 7pm-9pm. Please bring a finger food to share and your own drinks.

The address is 9000 Davis Lake Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28269.

From Hwy 77--Exit #18 W WT Harris driving East away from Northlake Mall. Go 2.5 miles. Turn Left onto Davis Lake Parkway and go 0.6 miles. After going straight at the four way stop, the clubhouse will be the first drive on your Right.

From Hwy 85--Exit #45(I think B) W WT Harris and Research Drive. Go for 3.6 miles. Turn Right on Davis Lake Parkway and go 0.6 miles. After going straight at the four way stop, the clubhouse will be the first drive on your Right.

I'll be happy to bring some cookies or something similar for munchies. (Is it POSSIBLE to write without munchies?)

Looking forward to the party!

Anybody want some Arby's? I can get a bunch of sandwiches for cheap (I get a 50% discount). Of course we'd have to heat them up by the time I arrive.

OUCH!!!
I woke up today sneezing and coughing. Probably NOT a good thing for me to come to a party tonight and give everyone my germs!

So...I'm going to have to give the party a miss in the interests of saving others from my bug, whatever it is. (Even if it's a cold, you guys don't need me giving it to you!)

So...I guess I'll be there in spirit, hoisting a glass of bubbly (diet Coke is bubbly, right?)!

Have a blast, everyone!

We will miss you, but rest and get better. Hope to see you at some other gatherings!

Don't think I can make it. It's a long drive for me, and my driving buddy is car-less for a while due to unforeseen circumstances. Have fun!

They were delicious, by the way. Shame I couldn't eat more- Curse you stupid diet!

I look forward to seeing everyone again, whenever that is. With my erratic work schedule and less than cooperative vehicle, I don't plan on attending many meetings.
