There are lots of ways that we can raise money for NaNoWriMo, which is of course a non-profit organisation that needs a lot of money to run (have a look at the homepage to see how much)!

We can make our own contributions of course, by donating via the store (http://store.lettersandlight.org/) or by using GoodSearch or doing some of the other things on the Donating When Broke page.
I'll also be passing around the collection tin at meetings, though that money will be going primarily to cover the costs of running NaNoWriMo in Northern Ireland itself - more on that later.

But better yet, we can get people who aren't themselves doing NaNoWriMo to contribute to the cause, by getting them to sponsor us!

So come join Team NI NoWriMo at GiftTool (http://www.gifttool.com/athon/OurTeamPage?ID=1891&AID=777&TID=4945) and get sponsored to write your 50,000 words!
I've set a lowly goal of getting 5 team members (including me) and of raising $400 (about £250 based on today's exchange rate) - but of course, the more of us take part, the higher our goals can be!

To cover local costs, I need to raise £52 - broken down, this is:
- £20 for room hire at Crescent Arts Centre
- £32 for room hire at Derry Central Library
(Those room rates were the best I could do - it's hard to get free space, so we're very grateful to Blick Studios for helping out for the kick-off!)

Now, obviously not everyone I see during the month will have been to either of the Introduction sessions (which is what the room hire was for) or to the kick-off. But please consider chipping in some money anyway - you don't pay a penny to take part in NaNoWriMo, but it costs a lot to run both locally and internationally!

I'll be passing round the collection pig at all events, and all I ask is that you chuck in your change. Big heavy coins and notes are very welcome! but so are the coppers and silver you get as change from buying your coffees. And they all mount up!

We'll be having a raffle at the kick-off as well to raise more money - every signed-up participant who gets a goodie bag will also get one free raffle ticket, but you'll be able to buy more. There are some pretty good prizes too!

And any money collected over the goal of £52 will be going to NaNoWriMo as an official donation in the name of NI NoWriMo (same as we did last year) - if we get any donation goodies from that, I'll do a draw for them.

[Edited because a) I can't count, and b) we didn't eat enough at the kick-off for me to need money for refreshments.]
