Hi, Dubois County writers! This is Erando (also known as Erin), librarian at the Jasper Public Library, letting you know that we will be hosting meet-ins and write-ins throughout November in the theater here at the library. We'll have flyers and signs posted starting next week, but for those of you who aren't frequent patrons to our library, I wanted to let you know here first.

The first meeting will be a meet-in to acquaint ourselves with each other and will be here at the Jasper Public Library November 1 from 1 to 3 pm. I will have a laptop computer available for new writers to sign up for the event as well as to update word counts (though on the first day, there may not be many, hehe). I'm asking that people call ahead and register for the meet-in just so I know roughly how many people to expect.

We'll host write-ins every Saturday of November from 11 am to 4 pm, again in the theater of the Jasper Public Library. We'll have snacks, writing games, and the laptop for updating word counts. Bring your laptops/notebooks, a cushion to sit on, and plenty of ideas! We do have thirteen public computers available for word processing, but since we have regular patrons who flock to them all day long, don't count on being able to use one (and there's a ninety-minute time limit on them anyway).

There will be one final meet-in on November 29 from 1 to 3 pm so we can commiserate/rejoice/reflect/etc. together before the last day of this year's event. I would have it on November 30, but there's always a children's program in the theater on Monday nights.

If you have any questions/comments/ideas, just let me know either via nano-mail or stop in at the library and chat with me in person. I'd be happy to collaborate!

Oh, and to let you know a little bit about myself, I'm a nearly-30 second-year WriMo with a husband, cat, and several books already under my belt. I'm a full-time librarian here, and I also run the local crochet club at the library. Uh, other than that? I guess you can check out my NaNo page. :) Hope to see lots of you at the write-ins!

Oh! I should point out that Dubois County is on Eastern time. I know there are counties near us on Central, so I thought I would point that out. Also, the flyers and signs are up in the Jasper Library now, so if you want to swing by and pick one up, feel free! We'll be glad to see you there!

We're having a great response to the NaNoWriMo flyers and posters here at the library, and there are already six people signed up for the first meeting! There are a lot more people out there that I've talked to about the event, so there should be a pretty good turn-out come November.

I just wanted to remind everyone that the first meeting will be November 1 in the theater from 1-3 pm. We'll be getting together for a short presentation and to get new WriMos signed up on the web site officially. Come meet area writers and kick off the start of this year's frenzy together!

Feel free to contact me via NaNo-mail or stop in at the library to talk to me in person. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone this Sunday!

Heya, Erin (and any other Dubois County lurkers)!

I'm excited to see that we've got local NaNo'ers here in the area. My name is Jenn, this will be my 6th year doing NaNo, hopefully the first year that the finished product doesn't hit my trash can on Dec. 1st (; I don't know about making the regular Sat. meetings, but I'll definitely be there for the Sunday Nov. 1st write-in to get things started. I look forward to meeting all y'all!

Happy Novelling!
Jenn

Hello all, I am a NaNoNewbie. I'm going to try and not fail this challenge, but I can't say I'll succeed. I was hoping I'd be able to attend some of the meetings, but seeing as how I only have a permit and parents who are unwilling to sit in a room for hours and watch me write, I don't think I'll be able to make that many. I suppose I could walk to Jasper, but that's about 8 miles I think...and I'm lazy. I guess I could always try and be at the meets in spirit or something. :P

Well...I'm off to go stare at the blinking cursor. Happy writing everyone. :D

Hi! Welcome to the group! Sorry to hear that you probably won't be able to make the write-ins, but we'll be rooting for you on-line. If you would like to have your name added to the NaNo word-count poster we have up in the library, kick me a nano-mail and I'll put your name on the list so you can be one of the participants listed. :) Happy writing!
