I know that a lot of us already know each other, but I'm hoping that we get some new people this year as well! So... for the sake of reference...

Hi! I'm Jen. I write primarily in the fantasy genre, either in young adult or really, really adult... I'm trying something in between this year, though! I have three kids (4, 3, and 2) and my husband is stationed at Ft. Gordon. This is my sixth year of NaNoWriMo and I hope for it to be my fifth win. :)

I'm Lauren, aka Kinneko. I used Nano my senior year in high school (2007) for my senior project by writing a story and researching publishing methods. I tried to do Nano last year, but was very wrapped up in my freshman year of college and never even got started on a story. This year, I have an idea, and while life and school have been hellish, I full intend to take the month of November to chill out and write, because nothing means more to me than being able to write.

I also enjoy the fantasy genre, but I write a lot of fan fiction based on a small handful of anime and video/computer games. I'm majoring in Creative Writing in college. I've been writing for almost 7 years. I've had the nickname "Kinneko" as my online pseudonym for nearly 7 years, and it's also my lisence plate, so I stick out easily in the parking lot! I also stick out in a crowd because I have very long brown hair. Anyone who's seen me at a BAM meeting (though I've only attended three or four last year) can attest to that ;)

My research paper for my English 1102 class is going on around November, so I might bug some of y'all once in awhile to read over my draft and help me fine-tune it. I really, really, really hate research papers... even if it's for an English class. *grr*

I'm Jeremy, aka Flip, and I also write primarily in fantasy. This is going on my third year in NaNo, and I'm still shooting for that first win. And I'm probably also the only one still not using a laptop...

I'm Renee, aka Armory. I primarily write fantasy, but am writing a satire/comedy this year, based on real people and conversations. Given the year I'm having, I needed to write something with next to no opportunities for my characters to kill people in gruesome ways. I'm a soldier, but I'm going through the medical discharge process - kicking off late October.

And, Flip, I have a thirdhand laptop I don't use - basically a word processor with internet access. If you're coming on Sunday, I could bring it along for you if you'd like.

Me? A laptop? That'd almost be like... modern... Whoa. I would love that, Armory. Thanks!

I'm Dave. I'm 6'9" of solid built muscle...wait, wrong forum...lol.

For those that read this and don't know me, I'm one of the MLs, though the incognito one for almost a year (wife was diagnosed with heart failure and the last year has seen some major changes to our lives).

Two years ago I would have said primarily horror/goth was my style, but i've done nothing but young adult for the last couple of years. Started as an incentive to get my kids to read by making the main characters shadows of my daughters. It stuck. I still like a good fantasy or horror story...especially my biblical based horror stuff.

Other than that i'm pretty much a flatline...lol. If you need anything just yell...i'll do my best.

Hi! I'm new this year (well, this is my first year registering). I plan on writing a Superhero novel this year (I think that would make it Adventure) and will try my hardest to actually win.

I'm glad i'm not the only one from around here!

Hello! I'm Betsy and I'm new to the area as of last December (southern by birth, but have lived most of my life elsewhere). I participated and won last year despite a cross-country move at the beginning of December and hope to win this year as well!

This is my second year of NaNoWriMo. Last year I wrote some literary fiction and this year I think I'll be doing some young adult fiction - somewhere between adventure and mystery. I'm still working on the plot.

We have a move coming up on November 1st (just across town) and I'm expecting a baby sometime around Thanksgiving, but who could be born anytime in November... I already have two little girls who are 2 years old and almost 4 years old. I think this year will be quite a challenge, but I think I'm up for it. I'm planning to try and come to some of the Tuesday evening meetings between the move and the baby's birth and look forward to meeting other writers in the area!

I'm not really counting on getting to 50k this year and will be happy with whatever I can manage given the circumstances.

Hello! I'm Kylea aka Wolven. I enjoy writting Fantasy, although I'm trying to write more of an adventure story this year. This is my third year doing Nanowrimo, and hopefully my third year at reaching 50,000 words, and the first time at completely finishing the story as well. I moved to Augusta right after Nanowrimo last year, although I had been living in Hepzibah while my family was looking for a new house. If I ever make it to any of the meetings this year I'll either be using my dad's laptop or drawing in my sketchpad.

My name is Anna, aka Deo. I write what ever pops out of my head. I am, as the rest will probably warn you, a little nuts and way outside the norm, so be prepared to have your personal space invaded! I am currently working very hard at my biology major in college, so I am always very busy, but never too busy for friends. I will try to make it to the meeting and to participate in nanowrimo this year again, but, once more, November is in the middle of my rehersal schedule for dance, so I do not get much of a chance. I try though, and that's what counts! I hope to see you all soon.

With a smile,
Deo

I miss you Stravos and Sandtiger!
Just wanted to let you guys know that I am still participating via Seattle this year. Lucky me Seattle lead NaNo in word count AND donations last year. But it won't be the same as the cool small group in Augusta. Have fun and good luck!!

Hello. I'm Trey. I'm 23. This will be my first year attempting NaNoWrimo, though I had considered entering in past years.
Hmmm, some stuff about me... well I'm getting married on November 14th, and going honeymooning over Thanksgiving week, so I really only have like two and a half weeks to write. I'm going to try though!
I graduated this past summer from Augusta State with a BA in English (Creative Writing concentration). I write all kinds of literature, in several genres. A main reason for this is so my writing will be well-rounded. But alas, my heart lies in fantasy fiction, though I'm more partial to fairly realistic fantasy than blatant, often unoriginal (but so entertaining!) swords and sorcery (even though my first fantasy love was Dragonlance, haha).

I have two Web sites, if you'd like to find out a little more about me and/or my work.
http://vulpesfulva.blogspot.com and http://vulpesfulva.deviantart.com

The DeviantArt page contains a majority of my poetry, but not much of my prose. Much of my prose is ... well ... incomplete. Stories in need of more work.

My goal in NaNoWriMo is to jumpstart my novel "Rhys & Emery," which is my first attempt at a novel. I have a ton of ideas that just need to work themselves out on paper. Hopefully before the 1st, I'll be able to put together a solid outline before I begin writing... I may need to write some small scenes, character sketches really, to flesh out my characters and give them voices and minds and hearts of their own.

Anyway I've written too much for an introduction. I hope I haven't bored anyone.

I probably won't be able to make it to any meetings, but my best wishes go to all of you in winning this year's competition.

Good luck!

Hi, all!!

I'm K.S. Manning and this is my 4th year at Nano but first year participating in the regional forums. I'm a contemporary romance/ romantic suspense/ mystery writer from the Harlem area. I recently received contracts for 3 of my RS novellas and hope to receive one soon for my first novel-length publication.

I'm an army brat so I've lived in many cities around the world from Washington DC to Dallas, Frankfurt to Dubai, but this area is where I call home. In addition to writing, I work full-time outside of the home for local government as well as coordinate a nonprofit knitting/crochet circle out of Pierce Church on Jackson Road where we donate handmade hats, blankets, etc to local hospitals, nursing homes, and homeless shelters.

Because of my location in Harlem and other committments, I doubt I'll make any of the face-to-face meetings at BaM but I hope to virtually help cheer everyone on to a Nano win this year.

Hi there!

I'm Casseh Valentine and this is my third year doing NaNoWriMo and hopefully my third win! =) I generally try to write horror mixed in with a heck of a lot of history. I'm 17 years old and this November between work, school, general nonsense and writing, its gonna be lovely. ^.^ Bring on the coffee.

I'm Jennifer and live in Lincolnton. This is my very first year. My NaNo project is a ya dystopian and I am trying alternating first person present for the first time and have no idea how to do that so this should be fun! Really hope to meet all of you at some point!

Hey, don't know if I'm going to officially do NaNo this year. I've already been working on a story for a few months that I don't want to rush/interrupt with Nano, since it's actually going (gasp) well so far.
I'll probably still show up to a few meetings to harrass everyone, though.

For the n00bs, I'm April, one of the resident foul-mouthed smartasses who spends most of the meetings heckling stravos and sandtiger.
I'm easily amused that way.

But I thoroughly enjoyed your harassment, April. =]

For those who don't know yet, I'm Brandi, the moderately quiet blonde who sits around and acts innocent when in reality my mind is going more places than most would ever dare to imagine. This is only my second official year participating in NaNoWriMo (and hopefully second official win). However, it'll be a stretch this year because I chose an insane amount of AP classes to take this year. XD

And I actually just realized I didn't finish all of my homework. >_< Fail. Off I go~!

Hey, I'm megan. I'm 17 and this is my first year trying nanowrimo.
I'm in my last year of school, and luckily for me it's home school, so I have a little more time to write.
I went to the meeting at the Fort Gordon library, that was the first time I've heard about this.

I'm writing a kind of medieval fantasy book, about elves and humans, so far I haven't thrown in any other fantastical creatures.
:P

One of my writing buddies, miss_elane_ious, is actually my real life writing buddy (we're twins)
We've been reading each others work and helping out with names. So that's how I know people on my first year.

That's about it, good luck writing everybody.

Hi, my name is Nate. This is my first time participating in NaNoWriMo, though I've considered it before. I'm writing a romance that also easily fits under young adult fiction. I'm in the Army, and I've been stationed at Fort Gordon for the last couple of years. I hope to get my story finished because I've been wanting to write it for a very long time, but my optimism that I'll win may be misplaced because I'm a terribly slow writer with little free time. I look forward to meeting everyone. Good luck to you all.

Hey everyone, I'm Meghan! I'm originally from Waynesboro, but I'm in college in Atlanta. This is my second year attempting NaNo, and this year I'm gonna win! Last years only failed due to the very ill-timed release of the latest World of Warcraft expansion a week and a half into the month... But this time nothing's gonna stop me! Not even research papers and Japaneses 201!

Hi, I'm Sharin, I am currently in Warrenville, right outside of Aiken. I write fantasy fiction, and have been writing since I was a kid. I have three wonderful boys agees 7, 11, and 13. I have an outstanding husband who I miss very much. He is incarcerated in Richmond County on bogus charges, so I work on his case daily, that keeps me pretty busy along with my freelance writing, and taking care of my children. It's especially challenging since my oldest has FG Syndrome and severe learning delays and emotional problems. I'm surprised I figured out a way to spread out my time! HA HA! And yes, I am a newbie. Happy to meet you all!

Hello everyone.

My name is Casi and I have only been in town a little under a year. I didn't get very far with my novel last year because I was actually packing for the big move at the time. I write mostly horror/thriller style stuff. I was heavily influenced as a teenager by Joss Whedon and his band of Slayers. This year's project is going to be heavy on Indian legends for the Appalachian area and, even though I'm working two jobs, I think I can make this year. Or at least come close.

I'll be caught up soon though.
I'm writing action, the whole spy getup, young adult fiction. This is my first year, but I've been writing for a pretty long time.

Eh, don't know why, but I forgot to check back in here and make my mark before the kick-off or since. I guess now is as good as time as any.

I might just be the oldest and certainly the most ornery of us all. This is my 6th go at this and, if things don't go sour any time in the next weeks could signal finally breaking my "Odd-Year Curse." (Of course, I just jinxed everything by even mentioning it, right?)

I was the one who was tapped to convene the meeting at Woodworth Consolidated Library on Fort Gordon as part of their promoting NaNoWriMo this year. That was fun, and I hope those who attended at least got a better grasp on what NaNoWriMo is if not any useful tips out of it.

I'm going a little dark and a little anti-heroic, but still fantasy, this year. Stravos knows my preference for roguish types, so this is going to come as no surprise that my character is more or less another of those.

Abdinego is based in Miravur, a disgustingly wealthy neutral city-state surrounded by three major powers, and hosting a lesser faction that has set up shop entirely within the city, all of whom have settled into observing an uneasy truce amongst themselves in order that they may cease endlessly struggling over control of Miravur and instead all profit from the wealth that pours through the only deep-water port on the southern, most populous end of the continent to remain ice-free year-round .

Miravur largely resembles the seediest elements of 18th Century London overlaid upon a lot of 15th Century Venice and then with gobs of Las Vegas glamor, glitz, corruption, vice, and immorality layered liberally over it all. Truth be told, Miravur itself is a faction all unto its own self and more powerful indeed than all the rest of them combined, as much for its tenacious resilience and stubborn survival instincts if not anything like conventional power. Of course, its wealth gives Miravur ample leverage with which to choke out anybody who tries to upset the cart.

Abdinego, the title character, is a bounty hunter who specializes in tracking down those who escape into the bowels of sprawling, chaotic quarter of Miravur called The Tarantel, the so-called "foreign quarter" of Miravur where the law can't even find them, much less touch them if they could. He's scarred inside and out, and bitter and callous, just like Miravur and especially like The Tarantel quarter, but he's also guarding a secret and is neither who he appears to be nor how he is forced to be to survive.

Then three separate prospective clients visit him to hire his services.

One. representing the Vesinji margrave of Rabensmarche, Margrave Theodoric, wants Abdinego to discover the fate of Aleran, Theodoric's lost fourth son. Aleran had reportedly been sold into slavery and was transported to Miravur after Theodoric apparently refused to ransom Aleran upon his capture while serving as a mercenary knight. Aleran has since disappeared and is assumed to have escaped into The Tarantel.

Another, representing the Vesinji king, wants Abdinego to hunt down and murder Aleran to prevent Aleran from resurfacing to assert his rights in light of the passing of the margrave's elder two sons, as the king considers Theodoric's surviving third son, Frederic, to be a suitable heir and regards Aleran as "damaged goods" and, therefore, definitely an unsuitable heir.

And the third, who claims to represent Aleran himself, wants Abdinego to assassinate both Theodoric and Frederic so that Aleran will inherit Rabensmarche instead.

Of course, none of them suspect that the hideously scarred bounty hunter, freelance enforcer, and sometimes assassin negotiating with them had once worn the face of and the title of Aleran of Rabensmarche.

And, of course, like Abdinego himself -- and indeed Miravur, too -- NOTHING revealed thus far here will turn out to be as it seems either.
