I tried to get the ML position for Victoria, but no luck, apparently I need to have won NaNo....*sigh* Oh well, no goodies for us.
In any case, I'd like to organize at least one write-in a week. I know Sunday afternoons were the good time for a lot of folks last year, but I can't make them.
So I'm going to see about getting a room at UVic for a few hours on Thursday nights (maybe like 5-8 or something), and Tuesdays also work well for me.
Let me know what Victoria Wrimos think!

What is this ML you are refering to? there has got to be one of us who has won before. Maybe they can apply?
More on topic I've got tuesday and thursday evenings free. So that works for me. Uvic would be a good location too. Even if we can't get a room assigned I'm sure we can just find an empty one to use.

A ML is a Municipal Liaison - they basically work with the region they're in and motivate people, arrange kick-off parties and weekly write-ins and all that. Plus they get goodies to give out (I have no idea what kind, but still :P)
The ML applications are closed (as of October 1st), and it doesn't seem like anyone wanted to be one this year ^^
We probably could just borrow a room, you're right, they're almost always empty at night ^^

Getting a room at UVic is an awesome idea! And I think Thursday nights would work well for me, if that's any consolation. I'm really excited about doing this this year. It's unfortunate we won't have an ML, but I'm sure we'll get along just the same. And just think, AkiliDaniels, next year when you have a NaNo win under your belt, you can ML!

Perhaps someone should make sure the nobody minds if random people commandeer a classroom. I can imagine campus security might take issue, especially with the non-students among us.

Campus Security actually really doesn't care so long as we're out by 11 - but I do have the ability to get a room officially booked to avoid any problems ^^

I have no problem with those arrangments, but I do have two questions: One, can non-students come to meeting held at U-Vic? Two, I am not sure how I'd get there and back, I hate busing by myself (I lived in a small town with no public transport before moving here, and buses scare me) and my wife needs the car for work in the evenings. If there is someone I could bus with to and from meetings so that I don't get myself lost somewhere, I would greatly appreciate it!

UVic is pretty lax so long as no one is causing a fuss. A group of people trying to write a book doesn't seem very noteworthy security wise. There's ample space in the library or the SUB, and that's just if no one can be bothered to book anything. A host of busses go from UVic, making it fairly easy to get to. Not sure which one you intend to take, although to be fair I probably won't be much help in that respect anyways.

My schedule is pretty erratic but Thursdays could work potentially, Tuesdays won't.
That is too bad about not having an ML. :(

i'd show up to sunday afternoon ones, and could also offer my living room, if others wanted to join on sunday afternoons, too.
i wouldn't be able to open up my living room this coming sunday (the first), but the other sundays should be fine.

Could make a new topic, but might as well continue with this one: thoughts for next year.
1) We need an ML. Co-chair it even: one person could arrange the victoria meet ups, the other the uvic ones or something.
2) It seems there has to be a clear distinction between the meet-ups and write-ins.
3) Two meet/write things a week in Victoria: one for weeknight, one on weekend, would probably mean most who want to make it to at least one could do so.
ETA: "Weekend night" is not a real phrase. But it could be. Adopt it today!

If I happen to win this year, I am more than willing to be co-ML with someone (or even do it myself if necessary)
I do hope someone else is willing to help out next year, whether I win or not, because I'm not 100% comfortable with being ML by myself the first time around, though I could if necessary.

The amount of work that goes into being an ML terrifies me but it is just too sad that there isn't one. I am considering applying next year but only if there will be others to share the workload with.

Oh, I'm considering doing the duties, for most certainly! ^.^ I would desire a co-ML, as chances are I just *might* possibly be in Reno for the first week of November next year. Maybe. And I plan best when I have others to bounce ideas off of.
Those of us that desire to do the ML-ing next year could make a fabulous team, for sure!
