Hey everybody, is there anyone near the Mount Holly area? I'm new to New Jersey. I've only lived here a couple of years, so I would love the opportunity to hook up with anybody for some writing groups.

I'm not too far away from the Mount Holly area myself. I haven't had too much luck finding a lot of NaNoers in our area of NJ in the past, unfortunately, but I'd be willing to get together somewhere in the area and do some sort of write-in even if it is just two of us (though who knows, maybe if we post it on the forum or hang out somewhere with something indicating we're part of NaNoWriMo someone else might end up appearing...)
I'm also planning to try and find my way to the regional kick-off party, as well as possibly the couple of write-ins on Friday in Voorehees, which isn't too ridiculously far away (unfortunately Thursday nights I've got choir practice, or I'd go to those as well).

I'm in Bordentown, at the northern end of Burlington County, and I might be able to make it to a write-in or two.

I suppose the next question is - where (and when) would we have a write-in? I can think of a couple possibilities in the very general vicinity, but there's a very good chance I could be missing somewhere even better. Here are the possibilities I can think of off the top of my head:
- Library (the headquarters library is pretty close to Mount Holly, or we could possibly go to one of the other libraries in the county)
- Panera Bread in Mount Laurel
- BCC campus (I think the two big campuses are in Mount Laurel and Pemberton; there's lounges and meeting rooms for student meetings, so I'm sure we could find somewhere to hang out with our laptops)
- Borders or Barnes and Noble (I know there's a Borders in Mount Laurel, and I think there might be a Barnes and Noble as well)
Those are the places I can think of offhand.

I would be happy with any of those places. I know the library is a great place, its really large and the staff is nice. I happen to be a part time student at BCC too. Whatever is easier for you guys I'm up for!

Pemberton here. Probably not going to be able to get together to write, but I thought I'd say hi.

I'm in Palmyra. I'm not real familiar with the Mount Holly area but I might be able to make it to something there, or Mount Laurel for sure.

I'm at Fort Dix. Mt. Holly would work for me.

I'm in Columbus, not too far from Ft. Dix and just a hop skip jump away from Bordentown. I'd love to be in touch with some writers in my area...

Wow - I'm so excited that I actually have an idea of where most of these places are, and they aren't too far away from me!
When is good for people to meet up? Personally I know that Sunday mornings and Thursday nights won't work for me, and I'm busy during the day on November 7th I believe - I substitute so I'm occasionally open during the day on weekdays, but can't count on that. Just about any evening except for Thursday is workable though, and Sunday afternoon, most Saturdays during the day... how about the rest of you?
As far as places, I believe the Pemberton lounge at BCC is a bit bigger, though it sounds like Mount Laurel might possibly be a bit more convenient for the majority. Or do any of you know a good place in Mount Holly to meet? The only places I can think of off the top of my head are either small stores or the Robin's Nest, which could be a bit pricey and seems more the business-lunch sort of place rather than somewhere to hold a write-in. Of course, I'm thinking of downtown Mount Holly, and we might have more luck if we branched out to include the surrounding area (which actually does encompass the HQ library, now that I think of it...)

I'm in Palmyra, too. I totally forgot about nano until an hour ago.
Did you guys set up a write in or meet up?

I set up another thread to talk about a potential write-in, and intend on having something even if I'm the only one going (though of course I'd rather have a crowd of people, and am quite open to any ideas or suggestions or to hearing personal preferences as to time/place/whatnot, especially while we're still in the beginning planning stages, though probably we should get things planned before the next email from our illustrious ML so that she can include us if we decide to do one sometime next week).
Anyway, the thread is at http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/3349519 - stop by and voice your opinion (is it just me, or am I starting to sound overly like all those politicians that have been calling for election day in that last phrase there?)

Whoops - either the NaNo site or my computer is being strange, but I totally did not mean to post three copies of the same thing... why is there no option to delete forum comments?

I live in the near Mount Holly! Though my parents won't let me go to write-ins... it would be cool to have one nearby. Maybe the Burlington County Library HQ would be interested in letting you have one there. I know they have all sorts of events.

HQ does have a lot of events, as well as some very cool librarians. Unfortunately, space is kind of at a premium there, because they do have so many events and only a couple meeting rooms, and since we didn't really plan as far ahead as some of the groups... but we're trying to work out other places that might be fun to have write-ins on another thread.
Any particular reason your parents have given for not letting you go to write-ins? Not that you have to answer - I'm just being curious. I'm not sure how my parents would have felt about me going to write-ins when I was young, but since I'm nominally an adult now I get to make those sorts of decisions for myself. Maybe if some of your friends are into writing your parents would be willing for you to have your own write-in at some point, perhaps at your house or a friend's house, inviting only people you already know instead of going to one posted over a public forum. Even if they're not doing NaNo you could still have some kinds of word wars with them, or ask them to give you random challenges to throw into your novel.
