I'm thinking about a write-in at Third Place books, saturdays 10-1. Anyone interested?

Have people had write-ins at Third Place books before? Is there enough plugs? I'm open to any place in the Mountlake Terrace/Lake Forest Park/Shoreline area that serves coffee, but I thought Third Place would be pretty convenient for everyone. Also: giant chess board. I'm a sucker for a giant chess board.

Thoughts?

Oh hey, I missed a call from you today. I blame the puppy trying to eat the exercise machine. Long story - still ongoing.

I'd be up for write-ins at Third Place. I'd be up for anywhere if you became my personal chauffeur but I don't see that as likely. Do you work at any of the libraries on Saturdays?

ha that was why I called you. I won't know about my full schedule for November until probably late October, but I'd like to leave these saturday mornings free for this. In the case I can't make one, would you mind going anyway, so the show can go on? Also: I can give you a ride to the ones I'm going to.

Ok, now I'm never going to call you back. Now I can sit (protecting the machine) and just write you. Ha!

I would appreciate the rides and am willing to buy you gas. If you'd like to have one every Saturday I can act as backup host. I'm quite dependable when it comes to weekly or biweekly events. I just sketched out November and I have something for every night of the week except Tue/Thu. Phew!

I think I've seen for plugs for those little tables that are all tall and pushed to the side. A big group table? I have no idea. Isn't there a meeting room people can reserve? Shouldn't that have plugs? I seem to remember going to a pizza themed bookclub in it a few times.

I read through the Third Place Commons info and it seems as if the meeting room is a no go. Meeting rooms at libraries are always nice. Are the ones around Lake Forest Park as easily accessible as Third Place?

I've got the answer!
We should/are going to meet at Laughing Ladies (formerly Hotwire Coffee) on 15th.
It's perfect! Big tables, outlet strips, and coffee. Also, they say it's not too busy saturday mornings.

It's better than Libraries meeting rooms because 1) we don't have to reserve the space 2) libraries only let you reserve once a quarter 3) there's food and drink allowed

My libraries experience differs but I think being 10 feet from a lady who will sell me more caffeine is good idea. Unlike Third Place we won't have to worry about writing during some sort of kids concert. Dino Rap is only good sometimes.

I should be there on the Saturdays I don't work! (Which hopefully will be most of them, as I usually don't work weekends, but as the holidays pick up it's possible I may have to work a Saturday or two.) And even if I do have to work a Saturday, I may be able to make it there a little later, since I work early in the morning.

Great! I will see you Laughing Ladies in November.

Shadawyn and LHS Flute- See you guys at Laughing Ladies as well! You will know our group, as per usual, by the fact we will have rubber ducks at our tables.

If anyone has an extra power strip, please bring it just in case!

I went to the cafe today and they actually have power strips between the tables. I was one of several people plugged into my strip and there were plenty of outlets to spare.

I know- that's why I picked them. However, an extra outlet is always welcome, especially if we take up more than one table.

Okay so some shit happened in my schedule, and I might move the write-in from 9-1 on Saturdays to 2-5 on Saturdays if people think they could still make it.

What are your thoughts on this, fellow LFP/Shoreline/North Seattle-ers? I know some people had said they would have preferred a later time...

I am *so* not a morning person. Until I read the post about possibly changing it to later, I was thinking, "So, I show up at 11:30, and stay later than the so-called official end-time of the write-in, what are they going to do, take away my Neo? They'd have to pry it from my cold, dead hands!" (Okay, I'm dramatic. I'm a novelist, what did you expect? LOL!)

That said, I'm not likely to make it every week (I already have plans for the 1st, for example), so if more people want the morning time-slot, I'll just show up when I show up, and leave when I feel like it, and write with anyone else who cares to stay later. :)

I'll be there too. I'm a Laughing Ladies regular anyway. You might want to change the description in your google calendar to say 2-5 pm instead of 10-1. I couldn't tell which time was correct until I came to this forum.

yeah, I told the calendar lady about the time change, but I didn't think to tell her to change the description as well. i guess that's why they have you link to the forum thread.

I will see you at Laughing Ladies!

Woot! Woot! Woot!

That's my coffee place (they're not *quite* in the lobby of my apartment building, but darned close), and the perfect time of days for me! I'll be there with fresh batteries in my Neo and my Coffee Punch Card pasted to my forehead! :)

Do any of the regulars know if we'll have trouble grabbing an entire table (or two) to ourselves? I've been to LL before, but I'm definitely not a regular. Perhaps we should arm out earliest birds with lots of ducks to stake out a defensive front. :D

Oh good! That actually works really well for me because I got a surprise scheduling at work on the 7th, but I'm off at 12:30. And this way, if they have any other surprises in store I'll still be able to make it. :D (I generally only work early mornings.)

If someone could show up 30 minutes early and grab us a table I would be eternally grateful. I work until 1 in Mukilteo, so I will probably only be arriving about 15 minutes early at most. bring a duck (or in the case of ducklessness, a sign or a picture of a duck) so we can figure out you are with the cool kids :)

If I ever get a Saturday off, I'm in. The 10-1 would work, but 2-5 doesn't unfortunately. Perhaps we shall see if the people give me a Saturday off... otherwise I'm open to other times/days as well if anyone's interested.

Actually, Third Place Books was just the kicking off discussion point. If you read further (It is a thrilling discussion) you will find that we move the write in from Third Place Books to Laughing Ladies Cafe in Shoreline because there were no plugs and the space is so loud and busy. It is also from 2-5 now, not 10-1.

See you there!
