I'd like to do something on this side of town again. Yea, nay? NaNo goodness without the crazy amounts of driving.

What times would work for people:
Monday/Tuesday/Thursday evening?
Friday afternoon/evening?
Saturday afternoon?
(some other time I can't do?)
** I'd like not to conflict with the other scheduled events, in case people want to do both.

Places:
Semmes library -- plenty of space, plug-ins, handy research. Less craziness than usual write-ins, so possibly more words happening?
**or, how far north are we all? brand-new Schertz library, maybe?

Hearthstone -- plenty of seats, plenty of plug-ins, not particularly crowded when I went, coffee & munchies handy, ok with more goofiness
** I think we should at least try for the Thursday fundraiser, if we can get the official-type paperwork done**

Borders -- some space, coffee/munchies, a few plug-ins. Lots of distractions!

Other? Plenty of options; these are just the obvious.

Also, how about car-pooling to some of the other events? Somewhere at the Forum might make a good meeting spot.

What say ye?

I am on this side of town also. Northern Hills, round Thousand Oaks and Perrin Beitel. The Forum is soooo much closer as is the library. However, with the new little one, we will avoid the library as she is rather talkative in her gibberish and does not understand 'shhh' :) There is not a specific time that works for me. As a new mommy, I have learned to wing it, but if something is set up and baby is cooperative, we are in.

I'm definitely up for it - the Semmes library is quite close to me, but I'm willing to try and make it to the Schertz library if that's better for more people. Either of the non-library coffee-and-munchies place sounds good.

Sundays are really bad for me this year, as are Saturdays except before noon. Afternoons and evenings of non-Monday weekdays are good.

I could be interested in carpooling, but I'm not really able to be a driver - getting on the highway still scares me, even after being here two years now, and I don't think that makes for a good carpool driver :p

I'm right near I-35 & 3009, so anywhere is pretty good. I'll be going to the other write-ins and socials, but any that don't conflict I'm game for. I don't work or have kids, so any time thats good w/ everyone else is good for me.

Yes! This is just what I need. Writer's workshops are expensive, and I've only set aside time to write in the summers. Help me find that internal motivation amidst the enormous teaching workload.

I live inside the 410 loop so I can get myself anywhere. My favorite place to write is Candlelight Cafe on N. St. Mary's, but it's rather small for 400+ folks. Really looking forward to meeting you all.

Cheers,
Karen

Very cool! Let's say -- for now -- Thursday evenings at Hearthstone. Time is up to when people can get there (5 or 5:30 for me, most days). They close at 9:00. Thanksgiving week we can either cancel or re-schedule.

Yay!

I live near 281 & 1604, but I'm over by the Forum quite often (taking classes at Northeast Lakeview), so I may drop by some of your Schertz-area events sometime, if that's peachy :)

The more the merrier! Looks like the Thursday evening will be the main one for now, unless something else comes up later.

Sorry I've come in late in this conversation.

I live just up the street from Semmes, so that is good for me, though I like the idea of Hearthstone and would love to try it. I may be shuttling my son to/from either Robotics or Karate on Thursdays, depending on the time but I might be able to work my way around that. Friday nights are generally good and just about any time on Saturday. Sunday's are generally busy, though I might be able to squeeze in a couple of hours in the afternoon if we have one on Sunday.

Last year I was only able to make it to the kick-off write-in and the Semmes write-in because of time/distances involved, so I'm looking forward to having a group closer to home.

If Thursdays don't work, we can probably shift to Fridays, since it sounds like most everyone is flexible. And yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to a closer group. (And thrilled about the Seguin/NB possible group, too.)

I'm going to start a carpool thread too, if anyone wants to share rides to the Meet'n'Greet or any of the early events.

I live less then 5 mins. from Both Semmes and the Forum, so either would be great for me! I've never been able to do write ins before, so I am VERY excited to meet some new people, and fellow writers at that! I have very few writing friends at present and it's a lonely world. I am very flexible, schedule-wise. Pretty much any weekday, day or evening and most saturday evenings. I've never met anyone in the region because Sundays don't work at all for me, and that seems to be when most regional activities are held :-( Highly looking forward to this year's extravagansa! Happy writing, all.

Semmes worked great for me although they close early on the weekends. I like the fact that we have resources for research fairly immediately available and there is usually a quiet space available.

I could try Hearthstone as well though.

I guess I'm coming in kind of late, but I'm good most nights except Tuesdays. I live just up the street from Semmes, but any of those locations work for me.

Hey, I'm in Schertz off 3009 as well. I work various evenings during the week but would love to meet ya'll wherever, whenever I can. I have a friend in New Braunfels doing this too and I'm sure she would be up for write ins at Hearthstone or Schertz library. I'm not sure where Semmes is but I can find it. If we can put out a schedule I will for sure try and join in. I am hoping to go to the kickoff once I find out my work schedule for Nov 1. So exciting! (I am also planning 1 or 2 write ins at the Gruene Coffee Haus in Gruene. Just need to set them up but they will be weekend morning/daytimes.) Looking forward to meeting everyone!

So is the final decision that the meetings will be Thursday evening at Hearthstone (and does everyone mean Hearthstone Bakery?) Its not super close, but there is no way I can make the Saturday morning writeins.

The current plan is Thursday evenings at Hearthstone Bakery. If we need to change, we can.

If people want to meet more often/at different times, that's great too. Tiffany/Toggy was suggesting a weekend write-in on our side of town, so possibly Saturday afternoons as well? Or a different time if somebody wants to pull it together. (I won't be able to do Saturday mornings or Sundays.)

TeamSA Assemble!

Saturday and sundays (all day) are the days that work best for me (school and other stuff the other five day of the week).

I've no car so I don't how I can make it to the write ins unless they're close to me -- I live near 410 & Broaday, a few miles northeast-ish of the Quarry.

Probably the Forum ones won't work for you, then. What about the regular Saturday write-ins? (see calendar) Also check out the carpooling thread.

My schedule is pretty hectic. Anything during the week except Wednesday is right out, and Saturday and Sunday mornings are also booked. Some Saturday afternoons will be out as well, depending on my son's soccer schedule. So, evenings on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday work best for me.

As to places, Semmes library is great. Borders at the Forum is OK, too.

I was curious if anyone would be interested in meeting during the week, during the daytime. I live on the Northeast part of town, but am willing to drive if anyone is willing to meet before 2 p.m. during the week. I work evenings.

I'm @ West Ave and Blanco Rd but I'm not too concerned about the drive to the Forum or the library.

Hey all! Like msweet and rthurt I can do almost any time, because I HAVE NO LIFE.

Well its true.

Anywhoo, I live 15/ 20 minutes from the Forum, so if anyone wants to do a casual write in anytime I'd be happy to. I'll of course be making both the Thursday Forum write-ins and the Saturday regional write-ins.

If anyone wants to do casual write-ins during the week, drop me a NaNomail and I'll send you my cell # and we can do it on the fly.

Oh man I'm coming into this so late but the fourm would work best for me. Its less the 15 mintes away from me and since my work is so hectic with my schedule I can never tell when a good time is. However, during the week I work mostly during the mornings, there is school but that's easy to work around. I'd feel most comfortable driving up there though, because I know where it is and I can get there in the dark. (I really don't like driving in the dark.)

I also noticed a few other students at Northeast Lakeview! Maybe we could do a Nano!Sudent get together?

I was thinking that since I'm child-free on tuesdays, I'll plan to write at Semmes Library. Anyone who is available around noon, when they open, is welcome to join me. I'll try to arrive as soon after 12:00 as I can and will stay until my fetus demands that I eat or sleep or otherwise pay attention to it. It's not a great place for chatting, but maybe that'll make us more productive. So come one, come all as your schedules allow. Again, that's Tuesdays at noon, at Semmes Library.

False alarm on the Tuesday afternoons at Semmes. My mother in law, who takes my daughter on tuesdays is sick, and will probably remain so all month. So I'll be stuck writing at home. I'm still hoping to make it Thursday night, though. See ya'll there!

Bill and I have tomorrow off so we were talking about doing a little write-in at Hearthstone in the AM if anyone is free and available and want someone to write with.
