I really want to do better than my two previous miserable failures, and I have been told that it is easier if you engage in the community events. Problem being, I'm not going to have the energy or gas money to get into SA more than once or twice a week [especially considering my frustrating and embarrassing tendency to get horribly lost when I drive there]. Anyone in and around Seguin and New Braunfels? Interested in mid-week write-ins in the evenings? If not, I'll [hopefully] use the online forums and such, but it is much nicer to be around actual people [especially ones who are middle school and high school students that I'm subbing for].

Not me, but (as per the Forum Folkses thread) I'm in Universal City. Is the Forum still too far, or would you be able to make the possible write-in there? It's literally right off of I-35.

I'll consider it, as it is better than where most of the events are scheduled, but it's nearly a 30 minute drive to get to I-35 in New Braunfels, then the drive from there to the Forum.

I know, I live in the utter boondocks. It kinda sucks sometimes.

Yeah, sorry! My grandma lives in New Braunfels -- though lucky for me she's near the highway -- so I know it's a bit of a trek. Hopefully someone closer will come out of the woodwork.

I'm in Seguin and have been a miserable NaNoWriMo failure for the past 4 years. Perhaps a local group would inspire; I'm open to suggestions. Chirojava in Seguin is a possible place to meet. Thoughts?

There are Wrimos in Seguin?! Why didn't I know this??

I go to school at TLU and usually live on campus. Unfortunately I had to drop out this semester because of health issues, but fortunately I live only 30 minutes away and have been making trips to Seguin anyway. I'd love to have a write in with people and not have to drive all the way across town!

I'm also in Seguin, as is a good friend who's also doing Nanowrimo. ChiroJava definitely leaps to mind. There's also the Crosswalk Cafe in NB. I'd be interested in meeting locally.

I'd totally be up for ChiroJava. I'm glad to know there are some WriMos in Seguin :-)

Y'all planning on attending the meet and greet on Sunday?

I am planning on it. Final decision will depend on how Sunday afternoon goes. I currently have guests visiting.

Oooohhh goody! Hey you guys! I'm in Schertz and my friend is also Nano-ing and she lives in New B. We were thinking of trying to throw together a couple of Sat or Sun daytime write ins at Gruene Coffee Haus in Gruene? (exit 191 off I35)
Any of ya'll interested in meeting up with us? I'd like to try and make it to the main San Antonio kickoff and would be more than happy to arrange carpooling to the Forum area or to Gruene or to come to Seguin too. I'm at exit 175 3009 by the HEB.
I am a multi year Nano alum, my friend Dee is a 1st timer. What genre are you thinking about doing? I'm usually chicklit but leaning toward historical this year...still contemplating. Feel free to add me as a writing buddy and let's make some plans for Nov!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all,

I just joined a few days ago. While I've heard of Nanowrimo several years ago, I always remember something about it sometime in November, this time I finally got it all together in October.

Anyways, I'm also in New Braunfels and also looking for a writer's group closer than San Antonio.

Do we want to schedule one day/time per week for a write-in in Seguin [probably Chiro Java] and another day/time for New Braunfels [location to be decided by people who know NB far better than I do]? That way the semi-ambitious can make two write-ins per week but still not have to schlepp all the way into SA.

If we can pick a couple times/places, we can probably talk our fearless ML Toggy into putting them on the official calendar for any Seguin/New Braunfels folks who might not have checked this thread, or for those who just want to try to make it to everything humanly possible.

My two cents on Seguin write-ins - Chiro Java is open late [till 11] Thu/Fri/Sat. We could meet Thursday or Friday evening, starting as people get off work and continuing until they close or we're ready to defenestrate things. People can, of course, come and go as they have time to be there. I'm thinking Thursday, but all of this is up for veto. In the interest of full disclosure, we may have minor problems with distraction on Thursdays as there's a college Bible study that meets from 8-9. I don't think it will be a huge problem, especially since there are tables outside, but I felt it best to add that information to your cogitating.

And don't worry that only coming to local write-ins means you won't get stickers. Toggy gave me some to distribute, so we won't feel left out. :-)

I'm pretty much open to whatever as long as its in the evenings. Chiro Java in Seguin sounds good.

I'd rather it not be Thursdays since that's when the Forum people are going to meet. And that's when all my favorite clubs on campus meet too, which I'd like to drop in on eventually (and I never even went to that particular Bible study).

Yeh, I didn't read the calendar until after I posted. I realized then that Thursday might be a problem. That leaves us Friday or Saturday if we want both evening and at Chiro Java [which makes the most sense to me]. Preferences? I would vote for Friday then, as then there will be a chance I will already be in town for work and not have to make a special trip.

Darnit, I forgot to ask about stickers for the Forum crowd. I'll have to snag some at the kickoff.

(Hmm, and there's an outside chance I might actually be in NB some days in November...I might have to crash y'all's party. ;) )

Sorry I missed y'all at the Meet&Greet--company stayed longer than expected.

Any of the days at Chiro Java works fine for me, and are equally likely to be hit or miss due to other commitments.

I'm up for meeting and ChiroJava sounds great. I'm going to put in a bid for Saturday's since I only work 2 of those in November (as opposed to 3 Fridays). I'm just glad to know there are more of us out there.

I didn't know there was another Wrimo on campus! Too bad I had to withdraw this semester, but I'm coming up tomorrow to see the play and go to Coffee House. Are you going to be around?

I also take it you're the one who friended me on LJ?

I wish I had checked this before. I would have gone to coffee house. Maybe another time.
Where is the first write-in gonna be after all?

I think I'm going to tell Toggy to go ahead and put a Chiro Java write in on the calendar for Friday evening [after people get off work] because it is a) in the evening which people seemed to be in favor of and b) a day when there aren't other events scheduled already. I hope that will work okay for most of you.

I'm going to aim to get to Chiro Java between 5 and 6 on Friday. Hope to see some of you there.

If I don't hear anything from anyone to the contrary by this evening, we'll plan on tomorrow night at Chiro Java around six like last week.
